(snip)"Warning letters delivered to thousands of Jewish families in Iran advise them to leave the country without delay

    October 17, 2007, 11:04 PM (GMT+02:00)

The letters, according to DEBKAfile’s Iranian sources, have been posted to Jewish families in Tehran (where the community numbers some 13,000), Isfahan (under 2,000) and Shiraz (some 4,000). They are captioned: Danger! Danger! Danger! and tell recipients to try and reach the West with all possible speed. Iranian Jews like the rest of the population face grave danger from impending events, the anonymous writers warn.

Wednesay, Oct. 17, President George W. Bush spoke of World War Three if Iran which seeks to destroy Israel gains a nuclear bomb. He said those who helped the Islamic Republic would be held responsible, a broad hint at Russia and China.

The Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert’s sudden trip to Moscow Thursday, Oct. 18, for one day there and back, and the two hours President Vladimir Putin has allotted for their conversation, tie in with these events.

DEBKAfile’s sources report that the meeting was requested by Olmert after he conferred with US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice on the last day of her Middle East shuttle, and with Washington. The prime minister is seeking Putin’s assurance that Russia will not complete construction of Iran’s nuclear reactor at Bushehr or supply the fuel for its activation.

Sources in Washington and Jerusalem decided to strike while the iron is hot, namely straight after Putin’s return from Tehran and before his final commitment to Tehran, in the hope of gaining his personal pledge to leave the reactor unfinished. This would be an important obstacle to Iran’s nuclear plans.

But our sources in Moscow judge these calculations are unrealistic. If Putin did not show his cards to the Iranian leaders in Tehran, they say, there is no chance of him giving Olmert any commitments. The Russian president is playing the world leader to the hilt. He will emphasize to the Israeli prime minister that Moscow has its own interests in the Middle East, just like the US and Israel.

The letters posted to Iranian Jews, our sources report, are not signed; they were postmarked from different towns in America and Europe and from private addresses so as not to raise the suspicions of Iranian security services. "(snip)

and from a professional investor BBS

(snip)"The TIC data indicating net selling of USD assets, circuitous reference to Iran pricing oil in non-USD FXs... looks like the USD as reserve FX is definitely being questioned... funny how Paulson didn't mention a strong dollar policy.
"Illicit transactions" is a direct reference to pricing oil/energy in non-USD FXs.

link to Paulson's statement after G7 meeting -->

""We reaffirmed our commitment to vigorously counter money laundering, terrorist and proliferation financing in order to promote economic development and safeguard the integrity of the global financial system. We discussed ways to deal with Iran's pursuit of a nuclear capability and ballistic missiles, the regime's vast financial support to lethal terrorist groups, and the deceptive financial tactics employed by Iran to evade sanctions and mask illicit transactions. We welcomed the recent statement by the Financial Action Task Force highlighting the significant threat Iran's illicit conduct poses to the international financial system.""

The Financial Action Task Force's statement has put the international financial system on notice about the threat that Iran poses to the security and stability of the international financial system. I urge financial institutions everywhere to take FATF's action into account as they evaluate whether handling Iran-related business is worth the risk."(snip)

yawn. More anti-semitic bullshit. The sooner the rest of you face that the jews run the world and are happy with universal equality, the better everyone will be! Ok, that's my hope anyway. The world would be a better place with a moderate jewish philosophy being the widespread world view. Fight me? Debate me? Read up on that worldview and you will also see that it fucking rocks!

well if you're up for Machiavellian theories, combine ...

(snip)"The Bush about-face, which leaves Israel high and dry against a regime committed to wipe the Jewish state off the map, may be designed to draw attention from the happy communion between the Saudi monarch and Iranian president in Doha and other policy debacles.

After years of foot-dragging, Tehran has decided it has nothing to fear from the US and so why bother with further engagement over its nuclear program? Deputy foreign minister Saeed Jalili, the dour official who took over negotiations from the urbane Ali Larijani, did not mince his words with the Solana. According to the New York Times , Ahmadinejad’s close ally said: ‘Everything in the past is past, and with me, you start over,’” He added: ‘None of your proposals has any standing.’”

When Solana said that he was under the assumption that there would be continuity in the talks, Mr. Jalili told him he was wrong

The French official described the meeting as “a disaster,” adding “Jalili essentially said: ‘Everything that Larijani has proposed is a dead letter and we have to start from zero.’”

The Iranian official is also quoted as saying: “There is no longer an Iranian nuclear problem,” and the only interlocutor recognized by Iran from now on would be the International Atomic Energy Agency, with whom he claimed Tehran had solved all its problems.

The London conversation took place as the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany met in Paris over the weekend to discuss a third sanctions resolution. The Chinese delegate agreed for the first time to join a sanctions motion, but the meeting was unable to agree on the nature of those penalties or the degree of their harshness.

From the posture adopted by Jalili in London, it is clear that Iran is no longer willing to heed international pressure for halting its drive for nuclear arms – especially since the Bush administration is clearly short of backing from the “moderate” Arab front.

In these circumstances, the White House has opted for minimizing the Iranian nuclear arms threat rather than confronting it."(snip)

(snip)"Monday, too, even the “moderate” Arab turnout at the Middle East conference proved to be an illusion when Saudi King Abdullah walked into the GCC conference hall in Doha hand in hand with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The Iranian president was invited to the Gulf summit for the first time. The “moderate” Arab front against Iran, proudly presented by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and prime minister Ehud Olmert, melted away to nothing."(snip)

... with the fact that Arab Oil Sheiks just rescued Citicorp (and by implication all of the other big US investment banks) from insolvency !

... and by the wildest of sheer coincidences ...

(snip)"MOSCOW — Russia dispatched an 11-ship aircraft carrier group to the Mediterranean Sea, the defense minister said Wednesday _ part of what he said was an effort to resume regular Russian naval patrols on the world's oceans.

The announcement by Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov is the latest move by Russia to expand its military presence internationally and flex growing economic and military strength.

Speaking at a Kremlin meeting with President Vladimir Putin, Serdyukov said an aircraft carrier, two anti-submarine ships, a guided missile cruiser along with refueling ships from Russia's Northern and Black Sea fleets and 47 aircraft would be part of the group in the Mediterranean.

He said the group would conduct three tactical exercises with real and simulated launches of sea- and air-based missiles and make nearly a dozen port calls.

"The expedition is aimed at ensuring a naval presence and establishing conditions for secure Russian navigation," Serdyukov said in televised comments."(snip)

... reportedly, these Russian naval 'tactical exercises' will also involve the participation of Iranian submarines and warships !

All of this could lead to a 'tin foil hat' conclusion that the US has decided that unconditional support for Israel now involves more negatives than positives ... that the US badly needs the reinvestment of Middle Eastern Sovereign Wealth (a.k.a. petrodollars) to avoid a depression ... that public / media support for any US anti-Iranian campaign based on the supposed development of nukes must be proven but is impossible to prove until a mushroom cloud rises ... and that Bush's belligerent posture toward Iran would die with his replacement after next year's presidential election in any case.

Of course, if a mushroom cloud does wind up rising, the Israelis will then be able to prove that their 'hard line' intelligence was correct. Unfortunately, at that point, the Russian navy will be standing between the US and/or Israeli military and strategic nuclear facility targets in Iran.

What I get from this is that debka.com was predicting an imminent bombing/invasion of Iran by the U.S.

Now the U.S. is quieting its alarms, and debka is pissed and claiming that Iran is ready to hatch The Bomb.

Based on their predictive accuracy that I'm seeing, I'm not worried.

I don't think anyone in Jerusalem is on a mission to kill all the Sunnis and Shiites, LOL. I can't imagine why ANY Jew would willingly live in a Muslim country, especially Iran.

I can't imagine why ANY Jew would willingly live in a Muslim country, especially Iran.
then again, the Syrians / Iranians / Palestinians probably have exactly the same point of view regarding Jews continuing to live in "western Palestine" ... which WAS a muslim country until the majority of muslims were driven out by force or 'eliminated'.

However I take your point about the practical wisdom of Jews continuing to live in Iran under possible threat of being driven out by force or 'eliminated'. However, their roots probably go back hundreds of years.
