    Default my comeback sucked...boohoo

soooo i jumped back on the saddle and danced for a few days at my old club... it was pretty hard getting back into it.

    the good:
-- my boobs went from a solid A to a solid C..so got a lot of compliments and possibly attention from customers who before wouldn't have wanted dances because of nonexistent tits.
-- one of my regulars came in, reminded me that i actually had regulars. we talked business and kids, which is always a nice change from "hurh hurh, them are some nice boobs you got there"
-- low to no drama w/females i previously had drama with...
-- got away with not paying house 3 out of 4 days cuz of dead-ness.
-- can't drink, so very clear recollection of the week's events.

    the bad:
-- dead, dead, dead club. the smoking ban really took a toll in this town.
-- hardly any girls around, so lots and lots of 3-song sets....ouch.
-- being away from my baby for that amount of time about broke my heart.
-- can't drink, so very clear recollection of the week's events.

    the ugly:
-- this random guy tipping me two $5s onstage and then assuring me i wouldn't make any money that night...fucker jinxed me.
-- forgetting i had cotton pads in my dress and having them fall out on stage...............TWICE!!!!
-- sitting there with a guy, almost guaranteed a few dances and having to bolt downstairs because my right nipple has suddenly begun to spray milk all over inside my cocktail dress... uh, yeah...
-- pumping in the dressing room and telling other dancers my prego/labor/lactation horror stories, convincing the childless to stay childless.
-- hearing about the staph scare for the first time in a tiny dressing room packed full of flipped out strippers screamming at the top of their lungs and petitioning to get a girl fired because someone thinks she has it ...... UGH.

anyone following this deadly staph scare? they're closing schools. :/ bad news for this industry. bad news in general, i think. i keep asking people if they heard about the plague and everyone knows i am referring to the staph....

Is there a staph problem in your area? Yikes. Just last night a girl was telling us about how she got a staph infection in her belly button ring hole. It was healed up though, and she had it covered. How contagious is that shit?

the staph infection thing is going around md and va.. people have died because this strain is resistant to antibiotics. counties are closing schools to clean from top to bottom there was also an outbreak at a firehouse or something.. its scary.

It's pretty contagious. Best to take precautions, such as not coming into contact with anybody else's open cuts (duh) an keeping any cuts, nicks or wounds covered, wash your hands with soap and water like its going out of style!! Staph wasn't always so bad, but the bacteria has become resistant to nearly all antibiotics. When I had a staph infection 2 years ago, I had to have surgery (like major surgery--general anesthesia and all) to drain 2 abcesses on my thighs...that was October 2005...I had to take 3 total different courses of antibiotics before it cleared completely. Now, I have 3 lovely scars (I had a second large owie on the front of my thigh--looks like I was shot) and a mountain of unpaid medical debt.

    Threadjack...

To the OP--Nipples spraying and pumping in the dressing room...damn, you're much more brave than I!! I just started giving my baby bottle/formula in preparation for my return to work. Good for you for going that extra mile for your baby!

How sore are you overall after being gone from work? How long has it been since you had worked?

To OP-Good luck to you. It sounds like your comeback had a lot of positive things going on. Be careful of the staph thing.

Glamazon-OMG!! Seriously?? I'm going to do more research on this stuff. My mom manged a laboratory for quite a while. She used to talk about the trends of different types of viruses that people had when coming into the hospital where she worked. I remember staph being one of them. As a result, she is a compulsive clean freak.

    Sorry for threadjack

i know next to nothing about staph, never had any experience with, but from what i've just learned it is actually pretty contagious. and deadly. one of the girls at my work claimed that one of her relatives had just died from it. she wasn't one of those compulsive-liar types either....she wouldn't have just said that. :/

^ all strains arent deadly. they vary so much. some right now are killing people, but ive never heard of that before this. some can be treated very easily. and some are in the middle.

Do you get staph just from skin-on-skin contact, or does there have to be some kind of open cut or wound?

^ i *think* that it can be either, but its worse if there's an open wound? i'm not 100% positive on that.

You can get it from so many things...I got mine from a poorly maintained swimming pool. I had some minor abrasions and took a dip in a friend's pool and voila...

I think you have to have an open wound or cut, but the bacteria is very hearty and can live on hard surfaces.

Many cases of food poisining are related to staph, BTW.

Thanks, it was totally a pain in the ass and I was a little freaked out about sterility...my bartender, who has like nine kids, was like "Germs are good for babies." I don't know about that so much though. That's pretty scary about your surgery, hwo did you know your abcesses were staph? I'm really glad you didn't die. (That probably sounds dumb but all the news articles i read are like "Little Bobby Jones got staph and TWELVE HOURS LATER HE WAS DEAD") I just can't believe how common it is... I worked in childcare for years and it was never stressed as super important for us to learn all about it. I certainly never heard that it "kills more people than AIDS."

I got a different job in February....so a little over 8 months. I am lucky, I didn't get really sore until I had to do 10 million 3-song sets, and then it was gone the next day and I worked again. I do take my shoes off at work a lot when I'm sitting and dancing and I stretch pretty good so that prob. has somethign to do with it.

The first day back my legs almost gave out a couple times, thighs weren't used to it. I got blisters in the usual places and some bad bruises on the knees, but my toes didn't go numb like when I first started dancing. That really scared me. Maybe I have better circulation now than I did then. Or shoes that actually fit.

People haven't started flowing here yet....but maybe they will. When did your city pass the smoking ban? Mine did July 1st, so all the bars on July 4th were smoke free. I was pregnant and designated drivering, and even though i quit smoking and I'm really happy about it, I thought it was kind of eerie.

I think it was July 15th. I was not working when it went in to effect b/c I was completing my internship. When I came back everyone said that it sucked ass the first month then people started coming back. I still think business is slightly off because of it. Well at least I missed the shitty times!!

No one has died from the MRSA staph infection here in Florida but a few kids in schools in Martin County......just north of Palm Beach contracted it, and now just recently a girl from Boca Raton in Palm Beach County was diagnosed. I know so far its only been young people in schools becoming ill with it but I can't help but feel a bit freaked.

I was feverishly washing my hands at work on Friday and I mentioned to one of the waitresses about MRSA and she just gave me a blank stare and told me she had no idea what I was talking about. I mentioned it was all over the news but she just continued with the blank stare. I guess ignorance is bliss. I wish I could live blissfully on ingnoramous land.

Oh well. All we can do is make sure we wash our hands frequently and thoroughly.

everyone keeps talking about washing your hands.. well if you are still dancing, and you have contact with customers, your hands arent the only thing that you should be worrying about. washing your hands will not protect you.

Most of the contact your body makes with a customer is skin to clothes. Your hands, however, may touch your customer's face, neck, and arms...washing your hands is your very first line of defense against bacteria that you come in contact with. And that goes with anywhere you are, weather it's in a strip club or cooking in your kitchen at home.

^ true, but as you said, staph can live on surfaces. so if youre touching chairs, clothes, etc, you should do more than just wash your hands.

    1) I had staph two years ago on my legs and I think I got it from laying in someone elses bed who had it because I wouldnt even touch her or sit on her toilet, just her bed :-(

    2) It took a few months after the smoke ban in my city for things to pick up but still never went back to normal. I guess once some of the smokers got the strip club out of their system they didnt want to go back :-( Anyways some of the clubs dont say anything to smokers anymore and a few of them have designated outdoors spots where you can still see the stage lol

Right, and in an earlier post, I mentioned keeping any cuts, nicks or wounds covered (with a band aid, or other wound dressing), because other than through food poisining, that is how the bacteria get into your system. If you're running around with owies that haven't been covered and you come in contact with the bacteria, you're putting yourself at a high risk to become infected. Washing your hands well and often will reduce your risk of picking up the bacteria on your hands and transferring it to an open cut, nick or wound on your body.

    Does that make more sense?
