    Default New laws in Atlanta

A new law was passed in the city of Atlanta anyone under the age of 21 is not allowed to be in a place where alcohol is being served. So the means no more dancers under the age of 21 anymore.

That's not exactly true, and would never happen. Think of places like Chili's and Applebee's etc.

It applies to Strip clubs and Night clubs.

There is actually a movement brewing (excuse the pun) to drop the drinking age back down to 18. I saw a story on it from CNN. I would probably vote for it.

I wouldn't Ive seen what alcohol does to people you need to be more mature to drink. I think that the ordinance is a good thing you see alot of girls straight out of high school dancing andsome are not mature enough to handle the job. I wonder will it spread to Dekalb county there wont be any dancers in the club for sure.Dekalb is trying to roll back last call so i wonder if this will be next.

Ya know, I agree with you on this. I didn't always feel that way though, essentially b/c I was under 21 when I joined the military. I didn't think it was fair that an 18 year old could carry a lethal weapon, but not drink a beer legally (I was in Germany, so I could though).

Now, I've seen so much bullshit associated with drinking, I think that maybe a later start (at least with it being legal), would be good for teenagers.

I think it's a good thing. 18 is too fucking young for most girls to be stripping, or for most people in general to be working in bars. I know our younger members will probably disagree, but come back and tell me your opinion when you're a lil older

then should we just raise the genreal age of consent and all be under our parents custody till we're 30? Once youre a legal adult, youre a legal adult. The drinking age is bullshit.

Just because you're legally an adult doesn't mean you're truly an adult yet. I look back when I was 18 and I was still a kid! I didn't really start feeling like an adult until I hit about 25 and then it really started hitting me more around 27-28. I don't think they should change the drinking age to 18, there's enough DUI's as it is. And, having a legal drinking age of 18 would just increase more underage drinking (teenagers) because you're more likely to have as a teenager to have an 18 yo as friend than as a 21 yo. I was 18 when I was a senior in H.S. and so were others in my class. Think how many more drunk teenagers there would've been. Now, I understand that kids are still going to drink whether it's legal or not but it does make it harder to find a 21 yr old buyer than an 18 yr old buyer.

I didn't start dancing until I was 30 and I honestly don't think I would've been able to handle it at 18. 18, you're still a kid and IMO not mature enough to handle dancing. I know all you 18 yr olds are going to disagree with me, just as I know I would've at that age. When I was 18 I thought I knew everything and thought I was this big, smart adult and boy did I have a lot to learn. I think you'll think differently when you get a little older and when you look back you'll say to yourself, gosh, was I young and thought I knew everything when I knew nothing! Just as Bridgette said, now when she was 18 she probably thought she was an adult and realized it later on that 18 may be legally an adult but you still don't think like an adult. That's why it breaks my heart to see on TV 18 yr olds committing crimes and going to jail for the rest of their lives. I'm not saying they don't deserve to be punished, but at 18, you still think and behave more like a kid than you do as an adult. As an adult you have more of an ability to predict the consequences of your actions, as a kid, your brain isn't fully developed yet to make those decisions. Ok, I'm going way off topic, just trying to make my point.

i started at 19, but i am pretty mature for my age. however, i can understand what you are getting at, b. i cannot stand to see drunk 18 year olds that use the job as a party with a petty paycheck.

Im not saying an 18 year old is a full adult in the sense f maturity. far from it. But if they're old enough to go to war, they're old enough to go to a bar and have a drink when they get home.

Not that 18 yr olds in the military don't do stupid shit.....but if civilian 18 year olds went through boot camp, maybe they'd be responsible enough to drink, or scared/disciplined enough to drink responsibly.

I always heard in countries where the drinking age is lower they have far less issues with alcohol, alcohol related crimes, alcohol poisening and stuff like that.

Well I'm 19 so obviously I disagree a little bit but I can see where you are coming from. I grew up i the restraunt business o I've been around bars fr a long time, and I've also been through alot and would say I'm more mature than most girls my age. I see alot of girls my age dancing that just hang out and have fun and don't work, and I'm actually doing pretty well for myself. I by no means know everything, but I think I am in a pretty good frame of mind to be doing what I'm doing.
Sorry I know you didn't want to hear my opinion until I was older.

Like I said, come back to this subject when you're a lil older. We ALL think we've got it all figured out at 18 or so, and it's not til a few years down the road that we realize just how much we did NOT have it figured out.

Every single 18yo on the planet thinks the same thing: *I* know exactly what I'm doing - you old farts just don't know what you're talking about. I'm different. I'm mature. Etc etc etc.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it. Hell no. It's part of growing up and perfectly normal. But I do wish girls couldn't dance at 18 because 99.99% of 18yo girls are simply not mature enough to handle it. It IS a rough place to be and it gets worse and worse as the industry degrades and degenerates into more and more sleaze. 18yos just don't have enough life experience to know how to cope with this shit properly. Yall have to admit this is true.

I thought the same things you girls think when I was your age. Everyone does. This is how we know you'll realize later that you're really not mature enough at this age.

I agree 100% that you should be 21 to dance. If you have to be 21 to get in the club, you should have to be 21 to work there. There's a girl at my club who dances and she's 18...still in highschool! That's...strange.

Most of the under 21s that dance tend to give A WHOLE LOT more contact than those over 21. Why? Because they don't know how to say no. They say that they are mature for their age, whatever that means.

As for drinking, I'm for lowering the drinking age or outright having no drinking age. For stripping, I'll be glad to see the girls who are fresh out of puberty stop encouraging the pervs.

Dekalb is trying to have all liquor establishments close at 2 am instead of 4 am. *That* worries me more than the 21 law.

Yea, my club had a petition for us all to sign (for that law not to be passed) and the manager was gonna take it to some county meeting pertaining to that.
