Default A question about shea butter

I know there are a lot of threads, but I couldn't find an answer to this question.

How do you apply this stuff? Is it supposed to be so hard?? Are you not supposed to apply directly out of the shower?

I may try the brand that CK posted about in a previous thread. I have only tried two brands. One of them is from a company called 'Jason Organics' or something like that. It wasn't pure shea butter, but about 50%. It wasn't bad, but you didn't get very much for how expensive it was.

Now I have a brand from 'the butterman' from a company called 'The Keys of Nature'. It's unrefined, but still really hard.

I use almond oil when I get right out of the shower, then pat and use a body lotion. Could this be the reason the shea butter doesn't seem to want to spread?

    Let me know your thoughts.

Pure shea butter is hard but I find that it melts rapidly at body temperature. Maybe the almond oil makes your skin too slick for the shea butter to get a "grip" on your skin?

Have you tried applying it directly to your skin, right after you come out of the shower? My guess is the same as boxingdoc. The almond oil prob. makes your skin too slippery. Therefore the shea butter does not spread so easily.
