OMG, I'm so glad you're okay!! Good thing you're smart enough to wear protection when you ride!
OMG, I'm so glad you're okay!! Good thing you're smart enough to wear protection when you ride!

thanks everyone for the good wishes... soooo.... I spoke extensively w/ Geico... the woman was kind of taken aback- obviously this is a situation like none other, and although I won't be able to recover any damages (she said they'll try, though) from Mr. Asshole, I WAS listed as Not At FAult... which is SUPER-RARE for a single vehicle motorcycle.... normally when a rider goes down it's "at-fault" because of rider error & loss of control, but since that was not the case.... the most I'll end up paying is the 500 deductible for collision. Eh.... it could be worse, I suppose. Now I wait to hear from my claims adjuster.
and sulk.Truthfully, I am grateful for a lot of things. Yeah, I crashed hardcore- but a.) I walked away TOTALLY unscathed (this is so fucking rare....) b.) NO ONE ran Me OVER!!!! and I was able to scramble up and stop traffic to get everything out of the way c.) People have been understanding.
Is it rEALLy bad that I'm thinking of giving that cop a call for other reasons???When he called me again last night he was definitely a little more... empathetic .... than I felt was professionally necessary....
(I'm such a shamless flirt for men on bikes!!!!)
Glad you are ok and they should hang the guy up by the balls.
My friends husband that I posted about before...was killed by an uninsured driver who hit him on his motercycle. It isnt fair that htey get away scot free after they did something wrong..then caused an accident. It is fucking illegal to drive uninsured...there should be mandatory jail time if you cause an accident WHILE driving uninsured.
On a lighter note...you should DEF. go out with the cop. If for no other reason then that you have a great "how we met" story!!

I was sitting here thinking that as I was reading this thread, and then I saw this. I'm sorry hun. Perfect example of why the whole illegal immigration thing needs to be fucking stopped. But that's another thread. I'm glad you're ok and your insurance will cover you at least. Or maybe it would cost you less to pay for the repairs yourself and not file a claim? I fucking hate the insurance industry because they punish you for making a claim on the damn coverage you pay for, but that's also another thread. ugh
At least you're ok and able to work, go to school and ride another day!

Glad your okay Embyr.
Out here in PA the fucktards who go by the title "PENDOT" have a habit of filling in cracks in the road with some black slick shit. I've seen more then one motorcyclist down due to slipping on that shit.

Deportation? That maybe inconveniences the douche for 24 hours and $500 dollars.
Glad your ok and that you got a no fault resolution. Thank the Cop it was probably his written report that got you the no fault.
Now try the pushup bra and half unzipped leathers at the body shop. Tell them you brought some real work this tiem, then strike a pose.![]()

^^ This guy has a lot more to account for than MY accident... he just had a hit and run dui! unlicensed, uninsured, 1 direct accident, 1 indirect, & drunk?? i think it might be a bit more serious than a fine.
The lady @ insurance didn't even see the accident report yet... but thanks for the EXCELLent excuse to call him back!!! *MUAH!!!!*![]()
hehe unfortunately i have to go to a ducati shop... which means waiting, waiting, waiting, for people in I-taly to ship the parts.... so no matter what I do it's going to take forEVER. at least I won't be paying out the wazoo.
Sorry to hear about this, but I am glad that you are ok. And call the cop.
Damn. Glad you are ok.

well... so it turns out i have a witness to the scene.... my awesome bouncer from my club was right behind me and saw everything...
BUT... *new development* I WILL be placing a call, not to the cop, but to a lawyer... JUST to see. The first thing my bouncer said to me when I walked in the club today was, "embyr, you should sue the city. If they put down absorbent & sectioned off the area AFTER you crashed, then they are at fault for failing to do so beforehand." I think he's right.
Plus... the cop, cute as he was, sounded VERY much like he was witholding information.. i.e.... he knows the dept. fucked up by not covering up the spill soon enough. WHen I asked about the accident reports, he immediately went into how it was not worth my time and large amount of money to get it. He said "three weeks processing time, expensive." Uhhh... It takes 1 week AT MOST, and is only 10 bucks!!! WTF???? WHy wouldn't he want me to have my accident report?? Like hell I'm not gonna go down to the station and get a copy!!!
ALSO.... he said that the best I could hope for was that the insurance company would say I "lost control of the bike." I.e. "at-fault" .... which was NOT the case. I was NOT listed as being at fault, and was NOT written down as having lost control.... obviously this is the difference between being able to recover damages and having to pay out of pocket. sounds to me like someone is covering something up. NOT FUCKING COOL.

Embyr is spot on the mark with the advice: wear leathers.
I'm kinda amazed that there are no after-crash bruises or soreness or pains cause even a low speed accident can be very unkind to a body. I'm still affected by a low speed slam I took from a tree while mountain biking. Some people have a knack for taking a fall.
Embry? Did the pavement nearly eat a hole in your leathers?

no, amazingly my boot and my knee puck *(which is meant to be slid on) took all the impact/slidey motion. I was lucky and went down with the bike, bike took all the force of the fall, then we separated and I slid after it. not even sore the next day.... yeah..... i know....![]()

Accident reports from the cops are pretty fucking slow.I'm still going through the legal battle with the dude who damn near ended my beautiful life.
Pursue it though, it really can't hurt.
You can't love something you think is flawless - me

" I asked for recruits drunk at the bar NOT FRUITS"
" well sir I majored in art, I can draw a mustache on this guy here and he will look just like Hightower "
Ahh I love that movie.
Embyr Glad to hear you are ok and didnt get hurt. I would agree about talking to a lawyer, and seeing if the city has any responsibility for the condition of the road.

Will you swear on your life, that no one will cry at my Funeral!

Just put a crash cage on your Ducati.
As a fellow motorcyclist I feel your pain though, there's too many four-wheeled butt-muffins out there. Every time someone takes my right of way, I wanna pummel them silly, shred their license and throw the car keys in the nearest sewer.![]()

Glad you're okay. Sounds scary. Try to get that accident report from the previous one, sounds like your bouncer guy has a point.

grahhh.... so... no case there, apparently there needed to be ample time for people to get there, so the attorney i spoke to (more out of curiosity than accusatory sue-silly craziness) said he agreed with the cop that pursuing this would be unreasonable and pointless. i suppose i'm just grateful, then, that I'm ok.
However... TOTAL FUCKING LOSS.....![]()

NEW BIKE???? WHAT SHOULD I GET??????

I am really, really glad to hear you're ok.
The accident my ex got into (where the girl he was with at the time lost part of her hand) was also caused because of another driver's recklessness.
I know you're already careful, but please be hyper-vigilant from now. It would suck if something happened to you because some fucktard came out of nowhere.
"She has written so well, and marvellously well, that I was completely ashamed of myself as a writer...But this girl, who is to my knowledge very unpleasant and we might even say a high-grade bitch, can write rings around all of us who consider ourselves as writers"
Ernest Hemingway on writer, aviation pioneer and horse trainer Beryl Markham

hehe the insurance check is 5000, not 15000 silly!!! I'll sell the stock exhaust and seat, which probably will get me another few hundred. I'm gonna try to see if I can find a Monster 900 with lower mileage. MMM thAT DRYYYY CLUTCH RATTLE!!!
Nina, thank you- I read what happened in one of your posts... yeah, I take all the precautions I can, and especially after this, will really try to be hyper vigilant and scan surface areas better, esp. at night.

A Kwacker???? meeeh..... those were being test-ridden at femmoto track day in vegas... no one gave them especially good reports. I like the naked look, yes, but if I went with a naked non-ducati I'd spend an extra G and go with the triumph street triple. oh my, this is turning into the moto-thread. ehe

omg girl, so glad you are okay.
Just saw this thread...
Similar thing happened to me in Az(construction road dust), but I woke in the hospital on a backboard and neck brace.
The new bike was the positive result tho.
Have fun finding the new bike!
(I wasn't wearing leathers, thankfully chicks dig scars)
