    Default Tonalin and Anxiety

my tonalin arrived today. my anxiety has been really bad lately, and i'm wondering if there's anything in tonalin (like caffeine or guarana type stuff) that might mess with my anxiety? have any of my fellow anxiety sufferers taken tonalin and had any bad reactions, or have you been fine?

    thanks!

Tonalin CLA is an oil. It is NOT packaged as a themogenic and does not have lots of extra stuff.

    FROM THE WEBSITE:

    Does TONALIN® CLA contain ephedra?

TONALIN® CLA is derived from safflower oil, which is a natural 100% lipid product. TONALIN® CLA does not contain any natural or artificial ephedra.
What is the Isomer profile of TONALIN® CLA?

TONALIN® CLA is derived from safflower oil, which is a natural product. The linoleic acid in safflower oil varies from lot to lot. This variation limits the amount of linoleic acid that can be converted into the conjugated form, thus varying the potency of the CLA in TONALIN® CLA between 78% and 85%. However, our typical batch is 80% since we control our raw material. TONALIN® CLA contains on average 39% each of the two active isomers 18:2 c9,t11 and 18:2 t10,c12 and less than 1% each of the inactive isomers c9,c11, CLA c10,c12 and CLA t,t, 9,11 +10,12. TONALIN® CLA also contains less than 4% Palmitic acid, less than 4% stearic acid, less than 3% linoleic acid and 10 to 20% oleic acid, which are the other natural fatty acids found
    in safflower oil.
Can I take TONALIN® CLA with my prescription drug?

No clinical studies have been performed on the interactions of TONALIN® CLA with medications. Please consult your physician before starting any dietary supplementation.
    How is TONALIN® CLA made?

TONALIN® CLA is made from a proprietary process that converts linoleic acid from safflowers into conjugated linoleic acid. (Safflower is the best source of linoleic acid.)
We take pride in the precise manufacturing and scientific standards used to create TONALIN® CLA. Our proprietary processing ensures the lowest levels of non-naturally occurring isomers (impurities) in our final product.

Someone on another thread said it could hinder some absorption of vitamins/ possibly BC, though. So good question, as I am a fellow anxiety sufferer. As someone said on the other thread if you take them as far apart as possible it should be fine, but ask a doc!

I take a ton of Tonalin and no anxiety. (Then again, I have an Rx for Xannax for when I do get a rare anxiety attack.)

It's fat, pure and simple. If you eat grass-fed cows, you're eating CLA. If you're good with cowmeats, CLA should be just fine.

Our brain is surrounded by a network of capillaries called the blood brain barrier which allows certain substances in the brain (like glucose and other fat soluble substances) and keeps others out.

Your anxiety meds need a precursor to get inside your brain (think of it as a "disguise" to sneak through the barrier) and these are often fat soluble.

My guess is that since Tonalin's job is to decrease fat cells, it can actually affect the absorption of your anxiety medicine.

I actually feel anxious when I don't take it. My body has gotten used to the fats I guess. I would talk to your doctor to be on the safe side. I've taken it off and on for a very, very, very long time and never had any problem with it reacting with medications..My doctor did tell me to stop taking all vitamins when I went through cancer treatments, that was the only time I've stopped taking it for a long period of time.

Sidenote: Tonalin does not decrease fat cells. That's sort of, um, impossible. It works to improve lean muscle mass, which causes you to burn more calories.

"That’s why so many people are turning to Tonalin. Clinical studies have shown it can increase muscle mass while decreasing abdominal fat, fat storage and total body fat cells. There are lots of CLA supplements out there, but there are several distinct advantages with Jigsaw Health Tonalin, including..."

That's the way they advertise the product, Rozz.

The thing is, other than lipo and apoptosis, fat cells don't decrease in number. Adipose tissue is always there. The amount of fat inside the cell may be decreased, but the number remains relatively constant. The advertising is rather misleading, IMO.
