Default I need an accountant now.

After doing my own taxes with turbo tax for the 2 years I've been dancing, I think it's time to hire an accountant. I want to buy a house.

The thing is, I'm terrified to deal with an accountant. I look at the yellow pages and have no idea who to call or how much they will charge. It's getting to a point now where I have dancing income, paycheck jobs, dancing in different states, etc.

My goal is to save/invest as much money as I possibly can and pay as little taxes as possible by taking deductions on said expenses (like 401(k) plan) without cheating on my taxes.

If anyone in Portland can recommend a good, honest, helpful accountant please let me know...

And anyone else, how should I choose an accountant?

Ask dancers at work or the manager/owner.... at my club in Sac theres a flyer for an accountant that does dancers taxes.

Hah, asking dancers at your club for an accountant is usually like asking a goldfish for a bicycle pump...

sc, I used Lauka & Associates to file my tax returns last year. They're located on Milwaukie in Sellwood, like a block south of Brooklyn Park. I just gave them some papers with my bank deposits for the year listed and all of the receipts for my dedutions and then got a big ass folder back including the envelopes & invoices for paying quarterly for the next year. It cost $125 for everything. I'd call them and set up an appointment. They didn't charge for the consultation.

Yeah ^ I was thinking that, too. I am scared to talk to most people I work with anyway. But thanks for the tax returns. That's really convenient for me.
