    Default MyGoGlamGirl.com

Yup thats MY web domain. I bought it. I OWN it.

Ive been brainstorming SO MANY ideas for businesses. SO MANY. Opening a hair salon, a tanning salon, just ANYTHING to work for myself. I came up with something thats gonna work and has little overhead (just networking!)

    My Go Glam Girl!!!

We come to your home/hotel and do your hair and makeup for 21st birthday parties, bachelorette party or just a girls' night out.

My girlfriend Autumn is on board to be one my my go glam girls...

want to eventually charge $75/head and the stylist keeps $50. So Im makin some MONEY. Ill start out with just Autumn and I doing it.

Im sure its been done - Ive seen things like it before and dont know why I didnt think to do this before.

Anything anyone can think to add to the business

Ive thought of offering discounts to larger parties
    Offering discounts on rebooks
    Bring a bottle of champagne?

I would LOVE to get in with local bars/clubs and have girls put on guest/vip list. I can even start networking thru MySpace....

Dunno - anyone that can think of anything would be greatly appreciated.

Ill FINALLY be putting my damn cosmo license to work and do something FUN

Heres a copy of what I want to send to bars/clubs

Make sure you do ample advertising too. Give all the local strip clubs and night clubs your card. Also put a ad in your local entertainment/what to do guide.

And low start up - I think thats the best part.

I looked into tanning salon - over $100K on start up - ouch....

This I can easily get really going for less than $5K (this includes EVERYTHING)

    No soccermom - gymnasts mom

I'd also offer make over services if I were you..There is one in the city called Gorilla Make-over, they do very well. One has to confirm wih a credit card in case of cancelations that'll help protect your time..
You should also leave cards in bridal shops and advertise to brides . Gyms too, women who are changing their bodies are always in search of fresh new looks..Congrats by the way !

Another thought came to mind..You're a mom right ?? Network with the other moms at the school..This thought comes to mind..I'm not sure if the school has fund raisers but, if they do why don't you donate a package for people to win/bid on. That'll get you exposure and a possible write off. Also get a magnetic thingy ( I can't remember the name) with your website and contact info to post on your car. Do the same with a license plate frame.

I'll post more ideas when/if they come up.

This just came to mind you can use the same fundraiser idea for the gymnastic group. My nieces are ballerinas and the school is always having fundraisers..I usually donate a dress or 2. It helps the school and gives me exposure.

^^^ Yea but that involves cuts and color and all that crap... I dont want to do that... just quick and easy updos/curls/flat iron some hairspray bobby pins - makeup and good to go...

Oh,okay..Well you can still use the advertising tips unless you already have your own ideas, just cross off the make-over part and everthing else can be used.

sort out some sort of package for hens nights- group bookings, i love the champage option.

great business idea btw, you could probably get alot of other salon workers to go in on this too for extra money....and if you act as an agent, you may not have to do alot of the work yourself, just organise and deligate.

    genius!!

Oh sorry - the other ideas were great.

The reason Im leaning towards something like this is because Im scared sh*tless that I'll screw up someones hair (cutting) Color I dont mind, cutting I hate so I came up with this idea so I can do what Im good at which is updos/styling and makeup.... Which is why makeovers dont appeal to me....

No worries..I like mermaid's idea too..You wouldn't have to do most of the work if you follow what she's saying..The only thing is you're going to have to be the best at what you do. You know when others get wind of your idea, esp. if you're successful you're going to have tons of copy cats on your coat tails. Maybe you should have your employees sign something stating they won't steal your clients..etc.

Thats exactly what my dad said - get a lawyer.

So this *idea* I thought was going to be easy and cheap to set up is turning into a business more and more because I want to do it RIGHT. I dont want the idea stolen and made better so I have to do it correctly and LAUNCH it as the best.

Also mentioned mass mailings... my mom does this (shes a hairdresser) You can pay to get 500 local addresses and they mass mail a flyer out with all the other crap mail you get.

Im thinking a 3x5 card flyer or something.

I think my thoughts of starting under $1K have turned to around $5K but thats still not bad for a business.

And I was thinking of expanding in say 3 years or so into a salon BUT a smaller salon that is only for this - groups come in, have a drink get their updos done and makeup done with music - a kind of pre party atmosphere... could even offer mini mani and pedi then...

    Hmmmmmm

Great business idea, good luck with it. One thing that really stuck out in the paragraph to me is the "21st birthdays." It just sounds odd to me, why not just put plain birthdays! It doesn't have to be your 21st to be special!!!

because theyd be on a guestlist/vip list and all the places around here are 21 over. Not to mention the places wouldnt want to put them on a guestlist for free if they werent going to spend money i.e. BOOZE.

Im just going to put b-day parties but wont be able to offer the VIP admittance to those parties with under 21ers.

I also eventually want to offer hair/makeup for prom - i dont want to do weddings. I dont know why but - think because weddings are all about perfection and everyone is so stressed. A bunch of young girls getting ready for prom would be fun... obviously no champagne for them!

I just want it to be FUN
