Default Anyone know how to quick tile a shower?

Ok...my stand up shower floor is old and ugly. A lot of the tiles have come off and it's just icky.

We have the tiles to re-do it...but it will take several days at least during which we cant shower (the tub/shower in the other bathroom is currently housing a fake BBQ fire and skulls/corpses for Halloween)

We'll have guests this weekend and they will have to use my master bath to shower..it's embarrassing.

Any way to make the floor presentable quickly? Like a cpl hours worth of work?

The easiest way to do a quickie patch job that will cosmetically get you thru is to regrout. Make sure to buy extra latex additive ( just an example...) as this will give grout the adhesion and strength to last a lil' longer than usual....till you can really replace. Make sure you clean well and fast as that stuff can be a nightmare to clean if you let sit too long.

Can I stick new tiles on by doing that? Theres a big chunk where tiles are missing.

I've done it in my shower, but I lost track of the hours spent putting it up. Unfortunately it required removing all of the old wallboard and putting up sheetrock (waterproof wall board); I used a lighter equivalent product. It was a lot of work. Once the wallboard is replaced, then re-tiling is relatively straight forward.

^^Well, thankfully I dont need to do all that. It's just the floor that needs to be re-done

Yes, hence the EXTRA latex additive in addition to buying a grout made with latex additive. If its a big chunk use sanded grout instead of the unsanded as this will provide a lil' more strength. NOTE...this is just a band aid measure...

Oh, well as long as there is no water damage just remove the tiles, get some new ones, and replace them. You can use the same mastic used for a full job, same grout, same procedure as putting in new tiles.

Yeah I figured anything would be a band aid until we can do it for real. I just dont want to be embarrassed by my shower this weekend. I'll try this thanks!

You could do the whole thing in thos cheap stick on tiles, or just roll out some vinyl flooring and tack it around the edges so you can pull it up and redo it when they leave.

Use some white silicon caulk to stick the tile back then use the same caulk for the space between the tiles ( the grout line ) too. Once it sets overnight it will hold and be relatively water proof too. But its definately a band-aid. U can get a small hand squeeze tube so u want have to buy a caulk gun either... THats what I'd do.. THen Id rip it all down and do it right after the party is over
