Default To share or not to share!!

I've noticed that alot of the girls trade clothes and I just feel that is gross! Any way you look at it each outfit is lingerie and it is just nasty! I made an announcment to all the girls in the dressing room that I thought it was nasty and for them to never ask me for my clothes because I certainly wouldn't be asking for theirs! My friend seems to think its ok and she trades with the other girls, so quite naturally she just thinks its ok to wear my stuff because we've lived together before. She has became a habitual line stepper! She'll even go so far as to take the clothes that I wore to work and leave the clothes that she wore to work for me to put on! And that's not the half of it, she's a bit bigger than me! Not only does she take my shit without permission, but she'll cut it up to fit her! What the hell can I do with it after she does that to it? It has clearly gotten out of hand! I feel that she's nasty and she doesn't know how to respect peoples personal things! I've cursed her out and she still does it! I would love to keep her as a friend, but I'm gonna have to whoop her ass! What should I do!

Well, it's definitely not cool for her to take shit without asking, and especially not to cut it up and ruin it. Buy a lock for your suitcase/dance bag, and keep it locked all the time.

I don't think sharing clothes is gross (except t-backs, ew), but I have to know the person REALLY well, and know that they aren't gonna ruin what I lend them.

I feel that same way! T-backs are an ultimate no no! Think of it this way, she's got her ass in your outfit, sweating, rubbing it on other guys and the only water she's seen in a day or two is a baby wipe! She's nasty and since she started cutting my shit up everytime I do let her borrow (rent) something I charge her what I paid for it to wear it just incase she tries to alter it!

Yeah....I sort of agree. Showgirls trade and buy/sell costumes to each other all the time, so I don't really think its gross. Only two of my stage costumes are brand new, all the others were second-hand castoffs. Good Lord, if we had to buy everything brand new we're all be broke as fuck, since showgirl stuff is all custom made and very expensive. If I buy a costume from a girl I know pretty well I just wash the underpieces really well in hot water, or if I don't know her at all I have new underpieces made to match the costume.

However, if girls are just swapping shit around without washing it or anything then that's gross. But if its clean....oh well. And that's fucked up that your friend is just helping herself to your stuff and then cutting it up. I'd bitchslap her.

I really hated it when girls asked to borrow outfits, especially ones I barely even knew. Often we would leave at different times and I never saw it again. I don't think they necessarily stole it, just forgot and stuffed it into their bags by instinct. I've done the same. One time a girl actually did steal my outfit.

It was propogated by another girl who was always borrowing my shit. Alltogether, there was only one friend I would lend stuff to, and that's if we were going to be somewhere together. Plus, she would give me outfits she didn't want anymore, or that were more flattering on me.

For the most part, its a crappy thing to do. Outfits are all unique, and if anyone is like me, you spend time finding things that look a little different and original.

There are very few girls that I'll let borrow my outfits, girls I've known for years. But I NEVER let anyone borrow my t-bars!

I've seen to many girls forget to return stuff to other girls, I want to make sure I get my stuff back.

I would only let my good friend that I knew BEFORE we were dancers borrow my stuff. I have had outfits blatantly stolen before, and girls that borrowed things and never gave them back. (they conviniently forgot them every single day. Hmm, wonder where they went?)

I've lent out clothes at work two times. First time, a top was returned to me broken. Second time, a top was stained with a drink. I don't let girls borrow shit from me anymore. As far as your friend goes...umm...What is she thinking? You've confronted her and she STILL does it??? That's straight up disrespectful...I could not live with someone like that. This is one of the many reasons I can not have female roomies.

This is why when a girl asks to borrow an outfit from me I have her give me something as collateral. And I typically pick the outfit (one she wears a lot and presumable likes)

But for the OP - I dont see anything wrong with sharing outfits but would NEVER share a thong (even if it is freshly washed)

me and my friends share work clothes all the time. but we're a pretty tight knit group. i mean, we don't share g-strings or anything, but we share everything else. i've never really seen it as a big deal. there's a few of us who just openly let each other sift through our lockers and wear whatever we want. i mean, i'd be pissed if it was some girl i didn't know, but most of us are really close friends so it doesn't bother me. half my clothes are in other peoples lockers, and half the stuff in mine doesn't actually belong to me *shrug*

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.
