Default Pounds, Euros, and Canadian Dollars and PDX tips

Portland dancers (and anyone else with stage-dominant clubs), check this out:

There's some kind of Intel thing going on now in Portland and a lot of Brits and Irish guys are coming around. Well, our money is damn cheap for those folks now, and I said so the other day -- "Hey, our dollars are nothing to you guys -- you can afford to tip twice as much!" Amazingly, they took me at my word, and one started flinging $20s on the stage. I mean, the $100 he tossed would probably get your cover, a drink, and one dance at your average London club, you know? We've also had Canadians tipping better than usual. A caveat: you sometimes have to politely let them know that stage tipping is proper etiquette. Don't get pissed if they aren't right off the bat because it's coming from sheer ignorance, not asshattery.

So as long as the dollar stays weak I am going to joke with every single UK/Canadian/Euro visitor about this and see how well it works.

Boy, I do wish they would tip us actually in pounds, that would rock.

Yes, do that enough, and maybe the Canuks will bring their tipping behaviour back North. The lessons they could learn...

heh, and the other day when an American gave me southern cash for the dance, I very nearly said "actually, it's twenty dollars, not 19.99 or whatever", but I resisted (because not too long ago so many would act like I was getting some big fat favour by getting paid in their superior currency). It seems many Americans still haven't realized they are no longer getting 'deals' with our dances, so I'm not one to remind them. I mean, we do get all the way naked with cheaper beers. So it's still sort of a deal.

    Off topic but related.

I hate when I get a bunch of Canadian money and take it to the bank and they want me to fill out some foreign money anti-terrorist form. Like $20 Canadian makes me a terrorist!

Luckily, you can spend Canadian money at Fred Meyers, cause I refuse to fill out that fucking form.

Susan, I read this *right* before work. Sure enough, my first customer for a dance was British! I made sure to say this:

And this convinced him to ditch the $20 dance and go VIP.

    Love it!

I was gonna recommend this too! Last night a bunch of British and Irish guys were in the club....and holy crap they were very excited about the exchange rate. They said everything was pretty much half price for them. They spent like crazy!

However, they told me that tipping was not customary in Great Britain so just KINDLY remind them that is is very appreciated here

Always take the foreign currency! It will be worth even more when the Fed cuts rates on Wednesday!

Ah yes - we get a lot of Brits n Irish in Australia too where the exchange rate is great for them. I have always found them to be good customers!
