Default "21 Pounds in 21 Days"

My manager went on this diet....and she looks freakin fabulous! It's a book called "21 Pounds in 21 Days". She really lost 20 pounds....skin cleared up,felt more energetic, did I mention she just looks amazing?

It's marketed as a diet, but I guess it's really more of a detox program.

Has anybody read/done this particular program?

I know the subject of detoxing has been brought up before, this isn't a fast or a scam (i know that's come up as well). This one involves drinking nutrient-dense green and antioxident drinks, eating fresh veggie soups and juices, and drinking lot of water. No artificial foods, smoking, alchohol, sweets, etc.

It sounds super super healthy, and after years of drinking like only a stripper can LOL and poor eating (mcdonalds at 3 am? Sounds great!) I feel like a detox may be in order.

The program has 3, 7, or the full 21 day schedule. The problem is.....I want to do the full 21 day program, but I am worried about how it will effect work. I do enjoy (need? ) a cocktail or two at night....plus I make most of my money in the champange room....how do you sell bottles if you aren't going to be drinking them?

Soooo.....has anyone done it? Or any similer program? Did you continue to work? Did the detox effect your schedule or $$$? And for those at alcohol/champange clubs, how did you avoid drinking or continue to sell champange rooms?

I drink sparkling grape juice. It comes in bottles that look like champagne. Try that, or talk your waitress into popping the bottle then pouring in apple juice before she brings it to you.

21 pounds of what? I can tell you that if the loss is meant to take place in three weeks, it's not fat. If the diet is a detox (ie involves a partial fast) I can tell you that most of that loss will be water, glycogen and muscle. You''ll lose some fat but will gain back more fat than you lost when the fast is over, since the muscle lost won't be readily replaced, leaving you with a higher overall body fat percentage.

    Not cool.

Sounds interesting but I think I could handle a 21 day fast..

*cK thinks back to that time she tried to do a water fast and failed horribly within hours*

Subtitled the "Martha's Vineyard" plan, right? I believe this detox CAN work (though it's definitely not ALL fat you're losing), and that the detoxing properties of it are very high quality. Robin Quivers of the Howard Stern Show did it not long ago and has been thrilled with the results.

HOWEVER. Be warned. This is an EXTREMELY involved diet, and an expensive one too. I picked up the book, and it looked like it was a solid and well-planned regime, but to follow it would be just . . . well, I already have several jobs. This would be like having another. To give you an idea, Robin's success was huge, but she had the author of the book literally move in with her for the duration of the plan so she could follow all the components of it properly (another example of why celebrities can do these things so much more easily than mere mortals can).

IF I had the time and resources I'd love to do this plan someday.

i've been wanting to try it, but i've got to get a juicer first.

in the book, the author warns people that at first, they'll be just blissfully happy, then they'll get pissy, then they'll even out.

yeah, read the book and decide for yourself.

How thin was she before she went on this diet? I'm 5'6 and 120-125, I'd like to go on a detox diet but I wouldn't want to lose so many pounds. I know I could only do it for like five days instead of 21 but I really would like to know how this works, especially since I also need one or two drinks to work (which is kinda ironic considering it's a detox program lol

I read the book in one sitting...and yes it seems super super involved. Doing the 21 day program (or even the shorter ones!) call for a total lifestyle change. It sounds worth it...but then again, I'd hate to do it, then go right back to my old habits.
The author really moved in with her? *sigh* to be rich and famous !
Apperently, there are a few online support groups for the diet, I can see why.

She was only a little bit overweight....155 down to about 135 now. The biggest thing besides the weight loss was just how GREAT she looked. I mean, literally, glowing. I don't need to lose that much weight myself, maybe 5-10 lbs at the most. (In the diet, they recommend protien drinks for people who don't need to lose weight).
Oh and the not wanting to quit drinking for the program? That's my big obsticle too. When I heard about it I was like....THAT kind of detox? Ohhh hell no
