Default Getting rid of the brassy hue

I colored my hair a medium ash brown (I've done it before) and I noticed this time a reddish brassy hue to the color. What can I do to get rid of it? Toner? Or should I suck it up and go have a consult with a colorist?

    Thanks ladies.

Oh, that's easy. Go to Sally Beauty Supply and get a little thing of Red Gold Remover. It looks like a tiny plastic pillow with a nozzle on it, full of purple liquid, and it costs 99 cents. Mix that into a handful of shampoo and work it through your hair. Let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse. And when you color your hair again, mix another thing of it into the dye, and you won't be brassy.

Natural Instincts also makes a new thing called "Brass free brunette"; it's a semi-permanant dye and last for a month.

I always dye my hair a medium ashy brown,a nd after a few weeks, it starts getting reddish. I use this dye, and my hair is red free for a month. It only takes 10 minutes, it's awesome.

I tried that the last time I colored. My hair still has a reddish tint but not as bad as with the regular ash brown. I'm going to try the red gold stuff that Yek mentioned when I color tomorrow

a really easy fix... no need to see a colorist as long as you don't try to correct it with a permanent color.

I'm going to go to Sally's today and get that Red Gold remover stuff Yek suggested. How much of the Red Gold remover do you put into a handful of shampoo? The whole thing? How many times do you have to use it? Thx.

Just one little pillow should do it, but mix it into plenty of shampoo. It works best if you mix it into the dye itself. If your hair starts to get brassy later after you dye it, you can also add a thing of Red Gold Remover to your shampoo bottle and mix it up, so that you get a little every time you wash your hair.

By a "handful," I mean a handful. Mix it into plenty of shampoo. You can stir it up in a bowl if you want. There's about a half teaspoon of liquid in the little pillow.

Good! That stuff is a little miracle!

I used to bleach my hair really blonde and it always turned orange until I started adding this stuff to the dye. I don't know how it works but it really does!
