Default Waitressing in Chicago's clubs to get started?

    hello!

I read all of the threads on the chicago strip clubs, but they were old.

Here's the thing..I thought about maybe waitressing or being a shot girl at a strip club first just to see if I can be okay in the atmosphere....I called blackjacks in Elgin (the lady who picked up sounded kind of rude and the area looks ghetto), and I thought about maybe trying out Diamond's or VIP's. Word has it that Diamond's currently the top notch strip club..What else is good?

I'm curious about dancing, but I don't want to jump in right away due to some situations at the moment..Maybe later on next year or something..I just want to get all my information straight first. Will I be able to waitress, or do these clubs only hire strippers and don't take the waitressing/shot girls jobs seriously? Will the server girl jobs make decent income?

I've been reading a lot about the race factor on here. I'm East Indian, which is rare in this type of industry. Will that be appealing to the management or a turn-off?

    Thanks for your help.

Servers and dancer's alike make great money. Of course dancers may make a little more, actually alot more. However there could be nights that you make more depending on the customers. Some customers prefer some waitresses over the dancers. You said you're of East Indian heritage? I think that would be an advantage, guys like the exotic look. I myself don't work in Chicago, I have danced down there a few times tho. And I've noticed so many different ethnicities from, Russian to Polish to Indian to everything! Go for it! I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised

First...Diamonds is not exactly "top notch"

Are you over 21? Because Scores and VIPS are the nicest clubs, they serve alcohol.....so that would probably be better moneywise.

Funny coincidence, I just had a conversation with someone yesterday about they wished there were more middle eastern dancers. I've only ever run into one other one and she was Saudi.

Being different is your friend, especially since you're of an ethnicity that is so rare is this industry. Rock it. You're of a small demographic.

Well, while Score's and VIP's are the top clubs in Chicago...they are also the hardest to get a waitressing job in. The gals at VIP's have been there, on average, of 5 years...at least. One has been there for 10 (well, she started when it was Crazy Horse).

Diamonds is the best suburb club. Blackjacks, the employees are just assholes. A bunch of teens who like to pretend they're "all that". Diamonds, however, rarely hires waitresses, as well. Their dancer turnover isn't that high...but their waitress turnover is even lower.

Same with Scores and with VIPs. Of course, you should always just go and put in an application/talk with the manager. You never know.

Yeah, I'm 24.....Thanks for the info..I will probably stop in at VIP's just to see how it is.

My friend said scores is in a bad neighborhood though.

I was a waitress at a club when I was 21. I only made average money ( $150-$200 weekends, $50 or so weekdays... sometimes even less on the weekdays on a bad night to be honest). Of course, that is in Utah. Everything is SO cheap here ( including the people !).

Does anyone know what the cocktail server outfits at Heavenly Bodies look like?

I called them, and they said they're hiring right now for sure. Might as well stop in and see how it is. This is the one in Elk Grove village.

I decided to not to go to Blackjack's since my internship supervisor lives in Elgin and I wouldn't be surprised if he's a customer.

You will notice a big difference between Heavenly Bodies and VIPs.

In Chicago, you have a limited selection of good clubs. Score's and VIP's are great topless clubs. Diamond's if you want to go nude.

I'd say skip the waitressing, go dance.

^I would rather stay away from diamonds because I know a lot of people who go there, and it's fairly close to where I live. I just found out that my ex's family goes to HB,. and the Elk Grove Village HB is close to my school.

The farther a club is, the better for me.

I don't want to start dancing right away for my own personal reasons (still living with parents, etc). I'm seriously considering just applying for a waitressing job at BlackJack's or AllStar's. Club O is hiring waitresses and doesn't require experience, but I heard that it's in a bad area as well. I don't mind putting up with assholes if BlackJack's is filled with them.......I just need money ASAP and a night job that works well with my school schedule. I feel awful because I got turned down by 4 mainstream jobs (restaurant waitress, hospital positions, etc), due to me not having enough experience or not being able to work the schedule they want.

EDIT: About my previous comment about my supervisor going to BJ's, I take that back..I'm just so upset that I don't have a job. If they BJ's hires me, I will take it.

I would stay away from Heavenly Bodies ... it and Industrial Strip filthy, sorry if anybody works there!! I did very very well at VIPS..... why don't you just go dance there? Otherwise Scores is okay. I know at a lot of the upscalle clubs you can't go from waitress to dancer without taking a mandatory six months off

I've taken public transport to Scores for audition... I didn't get hired tho, how rediculous. I don't think I had the look they wanted, or enough makeup on at least, I'm a girl who looks like she's 12 I think they go for like the big boob plasticy deal w/ crazy makeup and ritzy looking.

VIP's seemed easy to get hired at, me and a friend got hired at the same time, we went together. I also didn't get hired at PoleKatz, I think the management disliked me they were very disrespectful to me. All supposedly good tho.

Scores is like off of a highway, not much neighborhood to have! lol but people like it bc it is classy and nice, guys can drink, its grinding, the place is big with lots of different little rooms and areas to wander off to, looks pretty and ritzy inside, and a lot of bored custies traveling for business go there bc it's closest to O'hare Airport! Only thing was their dressing room was like the size of a closet and there was no room for the girl, and it was a total sh*thole in there! Like the club looked great but I got scared in the dressing room! lol.

I worked at blackjacks... I agree the management and people running the place are retarted, there's a bitchy ass lady Annie who is the mother of the son who runs the club (IF I recall correctly) the sons parents technically own it still so it's like a mom and pop strip club. And man she's a b*tch! She's the one you have to deal with to get a job there.

When I said I had another job she screamed at me "I NEED 3 SHIFTS! You can't not work 3 shifts!" I mean, I understand, but please don't scream it in my ear. On the phone I was just like, ookaaaayyy.... talking to her like a little kid lol.

Blackjacks is kinda a small lil dive, it looks yucky inside too, and I hate being a grind machine... I actually WALKED OUT of blackjacks and took a cab to the metra to home (I don't have a car!) when something bad happened.... Ceaser the head bouncer or whatever didn't even care..... I don't wanna discuss in public what happened but I ran out crying.

I decided not to go to strip clubs that look like sheds or factories ever again out in the middle of nowhere where they are touchy feely and require you to grind ever again. Not trying to discourage, just saying from what I've endured.

So once again I vote - VIP's! VIP'S! HOURLY PAY!! lol. 6.50/hr plus tips and if you wanna work at 4 pm house is $40 - even to come a bit later house isn't that much more. And hey, dual income is never bad!

I made $1000 in the middle of winter during a 4pm - 10pm shift once, It ruled!!!!!

I didn't stay for long though because I have 2 new jobs now.

A friend's dad owned a shop there. If you hear nothing bad happening around the scores area, I might as well give it a try I guess.

I hate to sound like such a fun spoiler, but VIP's is also next to the club where a lot of people I know go! I think it's Crobar and Zentra that's near it? I have a lot of friends that go to UIC, who frequent those places.

I drove by blackjacks' and had a weird feeling up my spine (women's intuition kind of thing). It's telling me to stay away, even though the manager Chris said come on over and he will train me for having no waitressing experience.

The guy who picked up at PoleKazt sounded nonchalant as well. I might check out allstars just to see what it looks like. Tree said to come on in for a waitressing position.

Silver Saloon (or something like that) isn't too bad of a drive..I drive an hour to school everyday anyhow. Any recent thoughts on that?

The older threads said it was a good place though.

Scores neighborhood isn't the greatest, but it does attract a pretty good clientele. You can also make pretty good money waitressing at a regular club, or a hotel bar if you are not intrested in dancing. Sorry but I wouldn't check out Allstars. I have went as a customer and the club was small, dead, and I did not really like the area.

yeah dont do any of the clubs you mentioned except for SCORES and POLEKATZ. Allstars is icky too. Very yucky and dumpy.

PoleKatz.... Scores... They both have money, and are very big, ritzy, and nice. The others are just little dumpy crapholes, you won't like them, trust me. And man, if you just walked into Blackjacks you'd walk back out like ewwwwww why did I just go in there!

yes VIP's is right next to a bunch of nightclubs, I guess that would be kinda risky in your case if you know a lot of people but it's very good money.

So far, I've been turned down for not having any experience at regular places. I will keep trying though. Strip clubs seem to be more lax on that.

I still would check out VIP's sometime as a female custy. The girls look amazing on the website!

Just watch yourself with Tree from Allstars. He can be the biggest asshole ever. He also likes to tell you one thing and then do another. I knew him before and if he hasn't changed...just don't get on his bad side...but don't kiss his ass, either.

Who cares if people go to the clubs? I met several people I knew while I was dancing and I could have cared less. Why? Because I was banking. I made more money in one night than most of them made in 2 weeks of working their "respectable" 9-5 jobs. LOL

Just go talk to the guys at VIP's. Bob is the best manager EVER there and if you can talk with him, that's the way to go. I know that they have a guy (I don't remember who) doing the hiring now, but just go see what you can do. Oh, and never, ever tell a club you don't have experience. You have plenty of experience cocktail waitressing...just go in knowing you can do the job. You can tell them that you cocktail waitressed at a small town bar and you mostly served beer and well drinks so you'll need to refresh on the "hot" drinks (and, honestly, the strangest mixed drink I've heard ordered at VIP's was a cobre libre--rum and coke with a lime...LOL). It's so easy...you'll pick it up.

Good luck, and please let us know how it goes.

VP, is Cali still at VIP's? She's awesome. I loved working with her!!

Bob is on saturdays, you said in another post? I called VIP's just to ask if they're hiring waitresses. They just said "We're taking applications," which usually doesn't mean they're hiring ASAP lol.

Okay one more question..what if you don't have enough money to invest in gowns, manicures, pedicures when you start as a dancer? That's another thing that's intimidating me a bit from jumping into dancing. I never get manicures. I just keep my nails short and neat.

Thanks for the tip on not disclosing about having no waitressing experience, lol. I figured honesty was the best policy.

Thank God! The city has been trying shut down VIPs/Crazy Horse/Dollhouse for forever. The high house fees and funny money exchange is almost justified so that the club can pay its legal fees.

I vote to skip waitressing and work at VIPs. A mani-pedi is about $50 including tip. You can buy a used gown from one of the girls in the dressing room for about $40. The shoes will be about $40. Really, you are looking at a less than $150 investment.

IMO, I think waitressing is more difficult than dancer. Waitresses are harassed by customers, must multi-task, and aren't paid as much so easily. Also, if a dancer needs a breather from the crowd, she can take a break in the dressing room or bathroom. A waitress must be on point at all times.

Scores. Scores is a nice club. Dances on the floor are no contact. In champagne rooms and private dance areas, well, it's different. The house fees and tipouts are low. It's drawbacks are that it's far from downtown, the dressing room is a closet with 10 lockers, and at times you feel like cattle.

    Here's the update!

I stopped by at heavenly bodies and polekatz to fill out apps. PoleKatz's interior is clean and classy, and the staff was very friendly to me (I got a good vibe from them), but the surrounding bridgeview area looks dead and kind of creepy. I don't know how safe Bridgeview is?

HB's wasn't too bad, IMO. They took my picture (yikes), which I wasn't prepared for, and said they had to show everything to the owner. I also had to take a mini math quiz lol. Some of the female office workers seemed bitchy (sorry), but the girl who interviewed me seemed like she liked me. They said they would call me in a week, but who knows. Since I had a secretary interview in the morning, I wasn't dressed sexy and I had my hair up, but it seemed like the staff at both places found me attractive. I presented myself as confident, even though I wasn't looking my absolute best. I hope that helped.

Diamonds e-mailed me and told me they were interviewing waitresses, so I wil stop there this week as well.

StrayStripper-I think I need more practice when it comes to dancing in high heels first!

Do you have to audition in a gown at VIP's? Otherwise, I will let you ladies know if I get hired anywhere....If nothing happens, I figure I can go back and audition as a dancer again once I feel "ready." I'm getting excited just thinking about this, hah.
