Most clubs in the northeast US do not require a dancer's license - however they are becoming increasingly restrictive in terms of scheduled shifts. The problem seems to be that club business levels are not increasing (or actually declining), such that many clubs will no longer allow an unknown number of dancers to simply show up and start working which would reduce earnings potential for all dancers in the club. However, this is not always the case, and there are many clubs that are perfectly happy charging each dancer a high stage fee / tipout without regard to whether or not she can earn enough money to cover the stage fee / tipout and still afford a cab ride home.
