    Default I weigh 100kg!

Not happy. I knew that Id put on a bit of weight over winter but I got the shock of my life the other night.

Yes it was after dinner and I was fully clothed (and monthly bloating) but I nearly died when I jumped on the scales and they went up to 100kg before settling at 97. Which isnt much better, but its a little.

I wieghed again properly 2 days later and my true weight is 95kg. Im 6 foot tall, but Im still 15-20 over my usual weight, and 10kg over my highest comfortable stripping weight. In my adult life I have weighed 1/3 of what I weigh now(admittedly I was very sick, at 35kg)but the weight fluctuations arent good at all. Medically Im supposed to be around 70-75 kg, depending on how active I am. Not allowed to get below 65 or they start to tell me off.

If I were working out 5 days a week and musclular, the high weight doesnt bother me. But this is 90% fat atm. I even have a gut.

Size-wise my jeans are a bit tight, but the rest of my stuff still fits, but not very well. I didnt even notice the weight creeping on over winter.

Im going back for Chinese New Year, and my husbands family will be shocked at my size. They last saw my at our traditional wedding ceremony, where I was much lighter and fitter.

So I have put on just over 1kg each week over winter, now to lose it by xmas, so I can get a Cheong Sam made for CNY.

Im regretting quitting the creepy illegal brothel strip place I was at. I dont think that I would have put on the weight if I were dancing. But it wasnt safe there anymore.

Ill update on my progress. I really hope that I can get the weight back off.

Has anyone else ever had to lose so much wieght? Id appreciate any advice.

    Luv C

Yeah. I was 83kg in late 2003 - early 2004, got back down to 49kg after spending many months eating 1500 calories (I'm 161cm tall, by the way), gained back to 75kg in early 2006 after getting in an accident and now I hover around 48-ish, give or take the odd half kilo (though I'm currently scale-less, so I don't know the exact number, but my measurements tend to be constant). The biggest thing for me was learning to love exercise. Before that I did calorie counting and the Shangri-La diet and, though I still do Shangri-La (which just involves taking a few tablespoons of extra light olive oil right in the middle of a two hour period during which I consume nothing with a flavour, including toothpaste, gum and liquids other than water- this encourages the body to defend a lower weight since flavourless calories drive down the set point), I no longer calorie count or even watch what I eat. I eat and drink whatever I feel like, as long as I begin hungry/thirsty and I stop as soon as that hunger or thirst is satisfied. I exercise for at least an hour most days (generally walking) and some days I go for two hour walks. I do weights sometimes and run when I'm in the mood. My body has become quite toned, and I've really learned to look forward to exercise.

Oh, this is not really my business, so feel very free to not answer if you don't care to, but were you 35kg as a result of anorexia? Reason I ask is because it may have screwed both your metabolism and your fat/muscle ratio. I got to 83kg (highest weight I've ever been and medically obese for my height) right after a period of anorexia during which I dropped to 37kg, mainly by fasting. Six months after I started taking in food, my weight had more than doubled, and since I'd lost so much muscle, my body fat percentage was higher than ever before.

Really the only way to even begin to correct the metabolic and body composition problems anorexia causes is to eat properly- regular meals and snacks- plus exercise to rebuild muscle, including strength training.

Yeah it was an eating disorder, which started due to illness.

I was really ill with pneumonia and a viral infection and couldnt eat successfully for 3 weeks. I got scared of the food, as every time I ate I was sick, so I didnt eat.
I now suffer from emetophobia (fear of vomiting) and not eating was a good way not to vomit.

As a result of this illness I ended up not wanting to eat, in case I vomited.
Now I have a messed up hunger function. Most people get hungry, eat, then feel full. Sometimes I dont feel full no matter how much I eat, and other times I dont get hungry for days on end.

I was on meds earlier this year, to increase my appetite, and to supress on the days when I just didnt stop being hungry. It worked, and I was really healthy for a bit, but I stopped them with the whole cancer thing, and I dont want to take meds for my whole life anyways.

Ive started counting calories again, but for me the solution is exercise. If Im exercising I feel hungry, and can usually feel full after eating.

Im off to see a nutritionist next week, and Ill go back to the doc for some more advice.

But I cant stay this heavy, even without stripping. It'll put too much strain on my body. Plus I hate how I look right now, I have lovehandles and a real gut.

Im sure I can be healthy again, I have before.

100 kg is 220lb, but Im really at 209lbs, which is overweight for my height.

Im supposed to be around 70-75 kg, (165lbs) depending on muscle mass, but Im not allowed to get lower than 65kg (143lbs or a BMI or 21) (the doctor yells at me)
So Ive got 20 kg to lose, about 45 pounds, and I want it off by Chinese New Year.
3 months to lose 20 kg is a bit too quick, but Id settle for 10 kg in that time.

Thank gods school is nearly over, Ill have so much more time to work out properly.

I used to be 165 about two years ago (I'm 5'6), and I was alway trying to lose it without success. (I actually had been 130-140 my whole life, I'd just got fat at the time). Then I was like 'fuck this, I'm a happy fatty I'll have to live with that'. Believe it or not, after I stopped obsessing about my weight, I started losing it. Not because of a milagre or anything like that hehheh but I wasn't thinking in black or white anymore. For example before that, I'd eat like 5000 calories a day, but then I'd starve for the following three days. And I wasn't always succesfull at that. When I decided that I was happy the way I was, I realized that I didn't have to eat those 5000 calories today, because I wouldn't have to starve the following day. It's kinda hard to explain especially when English isn't your native language (sorry!).
I guess what I'm trying to say is that try to not obsess about your weight. It'd just be harder to lose it, and you'll probably gain it back.
At least that's what worked for me. I'm 120 now (125 when I'm bloated) but I can assure you that I haven't dieted in a long time. I just eat what I want, and stop when I'm not hungry anymore. If I obsess about my weight, I get anxious, and eat more, (or struggle more to not eat).

20 kg in 3 months it's a lot. I know it's hard but just try to go for something more realistic. If you say 'i have to lose 20 kg in 3 months', maybe you WILL lose it, but then you'll gain it back ( or you won't but you'll be miserable)

Well this was my $0.02 I hope there was something useful there, I'm not good at expressing myself.
    Good luck

I had a similar problem regarding hunger and fullness thanks to too many years of eating disorders myself. Daily exercise helped me a lot when it came to getting in touch with my appetite. Regular eating helped too. I started to get hungry a number of times a day once I'd been eating regularly for a while.

A bit of a thread-bump, but I wanted to update, without having to go through the situation again.

Thanks guys for your advice. I really mean it *hugs*

Ive been to a nutritionist and gotten some really good advice. I thought that my ED was gone, but with the extra support (and 10 years of maturity) I can beat it now.

Ive lost 5 kg since this thread started. Im so happy, and I FEEL healthier!
And as a bonus hubbie has been working out with me, and helping watch my food and lost an inch around his tummy.

Im using the calorie king Australian site (my FIL went to uni/med school with the founder, he was saying) and being really honest.

The days when Im HEAPS under I force myself to get back in the range, even if Im not hungry.

Im eating 3 regular meals and 3 snacks (loving the fruits, mmmmmm mangos). MY metabolism seems to be evening out, and Im not even using the hunger-stabilising meds.

Been taking tonalin as well, and its certainly not hurting!

Im on track to having a stable weight range. By Chinese New Year (and my birthday) I will be at the top of my 'safe' range. My reward (and test) is no recording for two weeks, while we are away, to see how I go without the constant monitoring.

My hubbies Ah Ma (grandmother) actually got teary when I told her about all this, and they have promised to support me, and not encourage the bad habits again, while we are over there. And on the whole, the comments have stopped.

Id better eat my brekkie and get to this exam. After today Im 2/3 of the way there!
