    Default Headaches

hmm...Is it silly to see a doctor for a headache? Or when would a headache warrent a doctor visit?

I'm not prone to headaches, never had a migrane, nothing that 2 ibuprofin couldn't handle.

But the past 2 weeks or so, I've had pretty bad headaches almost every day.
Yesterday, nothing would make it go away. I took 4 ibuprofin and 4 excedrin migrane and that finally eased it up, but didn't make it go away. Today I have another headache, although it isn't severe at all.

I concider seeng a doc, but I think it may be related to my birth control...and I don't have insurance and diagnosing the cause of a headache is probably pretty expensive.

So when does a headache warrent a trip to the doctor?
And what can be done for a terrible heqadache that won't go away with OTC pain relievers? Any alternative remedies?

Have you had your eyes checked? Some eye problems can cause headaches and can be corrected with lenses.

I have headaches almost every day due to extreme sinus problems. Are you sure it might not be sinus related?

make sure you are drinking plenty of water. sometimes a caffeine shock works. drink a cup of hot coffee. also a hot towel on the face or a hot shower will help.

Get a new eye doctor. Seriously. That could totally be giving you headaches. Other than that, you're probably right, it's probably hormone related. It could also be related to caffeine.

This is why I don't wear contacts. They don't correct my vision properly and my eye muscles overexert themselves resulting in blinding headaches.

You might want to try lenses. I know they suck, but I've learned to embrace them and use them as an accessory. At least talk to an opthamologist about it. (not an optician)

It could also be minor dehydration.

    ^ Dehydration.
My pee has been very yellow and very strong smelling lately, which would point to dehydration.
The scale also said I lost 4 lbs over night.

So dehydration is plausible...but why? I have been drinking more water lately, not less. So that's odd.

    As for my eyes:
I have a minor astigmatism. Dr says i don't even need corrective lenses for it, it's not that bad. I can never see well with my contacts in, but he says my script hasn't changed. I don't get it.
I have glasses I wear at home, but I look ugly with them. They are very cheap, bought just s a backup or home use.
My eyes aren't even that bad -1.75
I can still see, it's just blurry, and I can't drive because I don't have depth perception without my contacts. I can't tell how far away a car is, or if the median divider is raised or flush with the road.

I don't know guys..something is going on. the left side of my chesthurts to. sometimes its sharp pain, other times it's aching pain.
But I hate having tons of wierd symptoms and feelign like a hypochondriac.

The headaches could also be caused by the fact that I have a cavity that has been hurting me. It's getting progressivly worse. But I can't go to the dentist. When it gets bad enough, I'll have to get it pulled out. That depresses me. I have beautiful, perfect, straight, white teeth. But I've had several pulled cause I can't afford to fill cavities.

Blah. I need to be able to strip. desperatly.

I feel for you. I wonder, are there any applied kinesiologists in your area? a holistic medical professiona? Or maybe someone in Chinese Medicine?

When your systems are out of whack, sometimes regular doctors can only detect and get rid of the symptoms. Try to find someone who checks out the organs, various systems and things. You might just need to take time off to completely destress???

I don't know. But you should definitely get checked out by a professional.

What birth control are you on, and for how long? Anything with estrogen in it can increase headaches, as can a sudden hormonal shift.

Based on your other posts, I'd say your birth control is probably causing all of these problems, could even be causing the problems with your contacts. Birth control pills can change your blood pressure (i think this is how it works) which in turn can change the shape of your eye. There's a warning in most pill leaflets.

The headaches can definitely be caused by the pill. It could just be dehydration especially since your pee is so yellow, so drink a lot of water first, but I would guess it's the pill. Especially if the dose is too low for you, your hormones might be fluctuating a lot and causing the headache.

Normally there are a couple signs that you should go to a doctor for a headache, and I think they might be listed on aspirin jars. Dizziness, blurry vision, high fever, etc. If I were you I would just stop taking that pill today, have a period even though it sucks, and see if these weird symptoms go away.
