hi,gwen here aka morgan, burned out and quit dancing a year ago,was in it for over 10 years. Thinking about going back so I can get my own business going.Im having a really hard time finding a good job now,I am working as a bartender in a bikini bar,it just kills me when the girls come up to the bar with apike of money I am really struggling with money issues,I wonder though am I too old? I am 42 now but most people say I look 30ish
When a dancer looks her age, or older than her age, it's time to quit. If a dancer is 45 and looks 35, great, she will probably do well as guys like older dances who are well kept and friendly, as most good spenders are in their 40's and 50's.
If on the other hand a dancer is 40-45, prematurely wrinkled and worn out looking from heavy smoking and a hard life, she needs to go.
There are two obviously over-40 dancers at my club and they do OK. (There may be more who just don't look their age.) I don't know exactly how old they are, but they do show their age somewhat. One has an amazing, slim body and fake boobs, but looks older in the face. She's a wannadance kind of girl who never seems to have too much trouble finding customers. The other has some lines in the face, and some cellulite, too. She does really well finding one guy to sit with her and spend money all night. So, neither is perfect-looking, but both do OK.
In the non-dancer world, a friend who is mid forties and (if you look carefully) looks it, but looks VERY good for her age, attracts way more attention from the types of guys that you'd want as custies than the younger ones, both due to looks and personality. I have no doubt she'd make a killing as a dancer. I'd go beyond what Tina says, and say that the key is to look good for your age, which doesn't necessarily mean younger, just way better than average.
My friend attracts a lot of attention from middle-aged guys (50+) who want to be with a "hottie" but don't want to look like a child molester. She's a definitely a hottie, and she doesn't look like their daughter. There are apparently a lot of guys looking for a woman like that, and the supply is highly limited. A lot of these guys have money, and I'll bet that unconsciously, their preferences carry over into the club. Guess who they'll go for?
Thanks for the support people! I was kinda thinking the same thing, now I just need to find a spot, did atlanta for 6 years, think I'll try the carolinas. Anyone now of a place that's nice,I prefer smaller laid back clubs, but would love to go to another "evening gown" type club like Elans of Conn.

Hey, I work in a fancy Atlanta club with a 44-year-old stripper. She's looks great, no work done (or very good work ), and does well. I'm quite in awe of her.
It really all depends on how good you still look and the lighting of the club. BUT being older now and wiser makes it soooooooo hard to deal with stupid customers, young and old, especially the young cheap ass ones. And serouisly the money is not there like it used to be, there are more girls and less guys, and guys want more now -alot more [extras]. If you have been bartending that's great, why don't you try a upscale hotel bar, you will make more flirting with those customers and you will get to keep your clothes on and hotels have great perks.
