Default New to this site, new to dancing.

First of all I have to say what a great place this is! I have had so many questions and didn't think there was anyone to answer them. This is perfect.

I wanted to say hi to everyone as I am new to this site, but not completely new to the idea of dancing. My name is Amy, but I have thought a lot about the stage name thing and have decided that Taylor is probably the one that best suits me. I'm a 29 year old (usually mistaken for 22-25) loan processor. The mortgage business stinks right now and just isn't paying the bills. I am definitely not looking at dancing as a permanent fix, but as a way of bettering my life right now. I have never danced in a club before and am just a little nervous about it. I have heard that totally nude dancers usually make more, but I am kind of considering just topless for now. I live in the Los Angeles area, so I know that there are a lot of clubs to consider. I've been doing my research. I have to admit that I am excited about the thought of dancing and being paid for it as it is what I really love to do. Any time I go out to a dance club women always ask where I learned to dance... I always tell them, "Any one can dance, you just have to find your inner stripper."

Any how... That's a little bit about me. So if anyone has any great advice on technique, make up, clothing, etc. I would love it. I have read a ton of these threads and am just so happy I stumbled across this site. Have a great day!

    Taylor

PS I am 5'3", 110 lbs, 34b (natural and perky), brunette. Any advice on the best clothing to flatter my petite frame?

As far as clothing goes I would recommend sticking to outfits that come in sizes. Meaning things that are sized Small...

One Size fits most things are advertised as fitting people 90 lbs to 160 lbs. However... I find them to be on the larger side, I can rarely fit O/S things and I am larger than even you are.

Choose things that can come on/off quickly. Time = Money and you don't want to be wasting either buttoning an elaborate outfit.

Go to which ever clubs interest you and check out the scene. See what the girls are wearing, see how they are dancing, get the feel for the whole vibe. Shopping will be a lot easier. Get a few outfits that will make you seem like you fit in. Then get a few to make you stand out.

FWIW it's not always true that nude makes more money. in fact, i make more topless than i do when nude. i find (in my experience) that the gentlemen in this area tend to go to topless clubs vs full nude, as some have told me they like to leave something to the imagination.

start looking at what flatters your frame in person, not just online. go to a stripper store and try on as much as you can but only buy 1-2 outfits. if you dont like the new job you dont want to have 4 outfits you'll never use again.

    Love it!

I think used to think that it would be a permanent fix, and I stopped my accounting job because there's no point in wasting time trying to make four grand a month doing accounting for 30-40 hrs, to getting it in one week. I haven't broken that much just yet, but I know many many girls that do. Oh, and don't worry about the outfit because you seem to be slim enough. High platforms slim your body, so if you can sport them, try it. Also, try on all kinds of outfits, the weirdest one on the rack could be the best one for your body, you never know until you try it on. =)

I went to the club that I was most interested in. My boyfriend accompanied me. The girls acted bored and I actually watched them lose 4 guys who were obviously looking to chat with one of them. They hung out at the bar instead of working. The atmosphere with the other employees was awesome. I was there on a Thursday night, so it was rather slow. I actually like the idea of being able to go in on a slow night and be able to practice more then anything.

So I bought an outfit, shoes, and a spray tan. Tomorrow is the big day for me. I have been running around in my shoes, which I almost killed myself in the first time across the floor. I quickly learned that 6" stilettos and shag carpet do not mix well, but I guess if I can master the carpet anything will be easy. Luckily I have hard wood floors in my house and discovered that it was 100 times better. I turned on the music and practiced getting down and up off the floor. I have one question... Will my knees ever get used to the floor? I am feeling really confident right now about this and think that things will go good. I'm actually excited. Thank you ladies for your advice!!! Cross your fingers that I do well. I will get on here and let everyone know just how it went.
