    Default "You know you're pretty"

What do you say to a guy that says this to you? I mean the guys that will be like "Wow you're beautiful. But you know that. Admit it, you know you're pretty."

It creates the most awkward situation! I would normally ignore an annoying nonspending guy, but these guys do spend money!

I get this all the time, and I just say yes, thank you. I DO know I'm pretty, no need to lie about that! Most guys like it I think, and I've only ever had a couple turned off by my sheer confidence, vs hundreds that like it.

I usually say "flattery will get you everywhere", so they don't realize how corny they are , or "you're gonna make a Black girl blush", to show them I can be cornier.

Just today my last customer was going on and one like that "you know you have a great smile. You know it." "You do know you're pretty, right?" It was obnoxious because I didn't know what to say. I mean what kind of question is that even? I like the lines you ladies have. I'll have to remember those.

He was an awesome custy money wise though, so, I can't complain.

I just say thank you like I would with any other compliment. I don't know what they are wanting from us when they say that shit.

    I love that!

I get the 'pretty' word a lot, well noticeably more than 'hot' or 'cute', and I just take it in my stride.. usually accompanied by a sweet smile or wink. I used to act coy and bashful when it came to receiving compliments, but nowadays I seem to get more positive reactions from guys this way. Self-confidence with modesty works better for me instead of insecurity and shyness.

I always say, "Wow thanks! I guess the $40,000 of plastic surgery was worth it!" Seriously, most of them think I'm serious, WTF?!

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

"wow, you are pretty" certainly beats the comments I get- "you look like my secretary/neighbor/mother". I guess I'm no glamour puss.
The most comment about how I reminded them of Princess Fiona (Shrek) had me swinging between horror and laughter. I only wish I had been quick and gutsy enough to respond with "no I'm more like DONKEY!" whilst spinning around and kicking them in the balls.

I think I've used most of the lines everyone else has posted: "Flattery will get you everywhere", "Yes, but I never get tired of hearing it", "You have good taste", "Good thing you're dancing with me then" etc. etc.

In general, I think they want to hear a positive, confident answer, rather than a bashful or self-deprecating one. If you try to deflect the compliment, that's when they get insistent or go on and on about it. Just accepting the compliment is gracious, and a good way to end that part of the conversation.

"Wow, you're really pretty. But you already know that don't you?/But you hear that all night long don't you?/But yuou don't need me to tell you that, do you?"

    (same answer every single time)

"My grandmother used to say 'The day I get tired of hearing a compliment is the day I don't get out of bed.' I have no idea what that means, but I think it means I should dance for you more."

If a custy goes on and on like that though I usually take it as a sign that he wants to talk about himself a little, so I'll start picking out things on him I can compliment him on... ofcourse, this is with spending custies.

    LOLOLOL!!

You must be an absolute crackup!!

I'm so damn boring when I get this question. I just say something like, "Well, I'm mainly lucky. I guess we both owe my parents a thank-you!"

Well, considering that I used to look REALLY geeky when I was younger, I calmly explain to them that, no, I don't know it because I really haven't been that pretty for very long, but thank you for the compliment.

I get 99% compliments about my body and also they say 'but you know that' i still don't know how to react, i just get shy and say thank you.
It would be nice to also hear i am pretty, i mean pretty in the face or in total but don't get that a lot they always mention specific my body, or i hear you have a sexy look in your eyes but your body is amazing....

    Well yea can't have everything

Corgan, I love you, and not in an air kiss way. I also went through a ten year awkward phase, but I'd kill a kitten to look like you!
"She held me close and whispered in my ear how wonderful I was. Since I'm not wonderful. I was pretty sure this was a trap. So I figured I'd better grope her as much as I could before they sprung the trap. You've got to take what you can get in this life. I read that in a magazine. So I started smearing kisses on her and pawing the front of her dress, trying to get my money's worth before somebody bashed my head in." John Swartzwelder

my standard response is to shrug, get embarassed and say, "um, i'm okay, i guess". that's just being honest.
