Default What are your slow months?

I travel. Roughly every two months, I pick up and head to the next stop on my circuit. And it seems like everywhere I go, regardless of how content I am with my earnings, a majority of girls are complaining that "this is such a crappy time of year to dance around here." I discounted it as sour grapes and burned out chicks at first, but I know I'm making less than I was when I started a year ago, too, and I still love it.

Is this just pessimism, clubs going downhill, the whole industry going down, or what?

But what I really want to know (for my own selfish travel planning reasons, of course ), is: what are the slow times of year to dance where you are?

Some people will respond that the industry is dying...personally, I've never experienced typical "slow seasons". In my experience my money depends on what's going on inside me, not external factors. When I'm refreshed and energized and in a good place, those are my "good seasons." When I'm burnt out and desperate and in a rut and mindfucking myself into negativity...those are my slow months. I can be banking in a club where everyone else is crying about there being no money during the summer. I can also go home broke after most shifts even during the typically "busy" fall season b/c I'm burnt out and my mind and attitude are not in the right place. (Like right now.)

I definitely see the arguement about making more when you're not working while burnt but desperate.

But that's not all, for me. When I got to Denver this year, I was broke, and so disheartened by my experience in Dallas (it took forever to find a club I liked and I still made the worst money I've ever worked for in my life), I was really ready to take a break for a month or two, "right after I go and make enough to get through the week." And I loved Denver and did well. And hell, I got to Dallas in the first place in a happy enough mood after having done all right on the outskirts of Phoenix.

Where I'm at, Christmas is very very busy. It's January-Feb that's slow but I still make over a grand a week. A couple weeks ago I was at ~3000 for the week, so I know busy season has taken off. I'm busily saving everything now so I can survive when I get those rare $600 weeks (yes, I'm aware I'm spoiled).

My summer was great but since September hit its been pretty shitty. This is also Maine, Vacationland, so it makes since that it would be better in the summer. Everything here is better in the summer.

Without fail, Janurary. Australia likes to combine the double whammy of summer and the post Christmas slump all in one.

Texas here. To me it seems like October thru April are pretty good months, peaking in December and January. Summer is slow. This years it seems like it has taken a long time for the busy season to take off though. Might have something to do with the weather being too nice.

I think August and January are the slowest two months of the year almost anywhere, what with slumps after a lot of activity and weather. But a couple of years ago I started taking most of both of them off so I can't say with certainty anymore.

Actually, January is pretty good in Phx and Vegas.

Most places I've worked summer is the slow time. December was really good for me in Detroit, but that's not the case out west.

here in tampa it seems like it's been slow (and i mean lack of spending customers -not- just how much "i" make) since about april/may. i thought for sure it would pick up in october like last year, but it still hasn't.

I'd agree with this! When I feel burnt out and like I have to force myself I usually don't do so well, but when I am energetic and happy I bank and everyone eles could be complaining what a slow night it was...so I guess every day is different...not necessarily months or whatever. One thing I've learned now is it really only takes one guy to make your night...when I first started dancing I really didn't like conversation much and just wanted to do dances and get on with it..but now I'd much rather conversate in a private room getting paid...I think because I'm 26 now my chances of running into guys that are willing to pay for my company is greatly improved over just running from guy to guy asking for dances..although I don't mind that but with less guys in the club nowadays your ways of making money that way are limited.

I worked at four different clubs in Dallas (well, 3 in Dallas, 1 in Arlington). It took a while to find the one I liked, which was Clubhouse. Some of it was just a problem of fit. The club in Arlington was WAY too high contact for me. The next club I tried had an average of 20 girls on day shift, with frequently only 5 guys all day, and told me I was too fat to work night shift (granted, I'm not rock hard muscle with giant boobs, but I'm not chubby in the least, either, and some of the girls who DID work nights there were NOT as fit as me).

The third club was Dallas Gentleman's Club. The only thing I have against it was that in the three days I was there, Spice (she's so fun to talk to!) was the only girl to speak to me. Literally. However, being a "skinny white girl" as one custie pointed out, and a rocker chick, DGC wasn't for me.

But yeah, this was around April-May. And even at Clubhouse, I still had the defect of being a Yankee.

December was great for me in Jersey last year; I hope it's even half as good this year. January, on the other hand... And I made out nicely just outside PHX this past March.

Well here in Finland (I doubt you'll visit here tho!) we have two slumps. The worst is January and February. January is after Christmas, after New Year's, and it's traditional in my parts of the world to spend January sober (just to prove that you can) so the bar and club industry does poorly in January in general, not just strip clubs. I think it starts to get better late March when the sun starts shining again. And then we have another slump in late August and early September, after the summer holidays. I think both of these slumps have a lot to do with a) people partying a lot during Christmas and summer and b) them having to pay the credit card bills caused by the partying. I've found these slumps to be true, and the club owner has confirmed this for me. The liquor sales go down too.

The high times are summer and a month or two before Christmas (it's starting to climb up after summer now). The people coming in before Christmas tend to be company parties though, and since you can't reduce lap dances in taxing it's hell working those people. Still, if you've got enough patience you can get them to spend the money to dances out of pocket.

I'm in Portland. August and early September have been the worst times of the year for me all three years that I've been keeping records. I do really well in December, and also May.

I agree with this. The only time I have slow times is when I've been burnt out or otherwise sick of the job. Sure, it's a little slower in Jan., Feb., but that's never stopped me from making money.

Summers are actually not that bad here. Not fantastic, but not dismal. I find january and february to be the worst. Holiday season is good...but coldness keeps everyone locked up. Except during the hockey games.

Dallas here. My slow months are pretty consistent July through September/October. I take them off, and focus on my company. It's refreshing to not deal day to day bad nights.

I work at a club in the small section of west virginia between pennsylvania and ohio. Right near wheeling wv. Football season is very bad for us because we are close to pittsburgh (men in pittsburgh are obviously crazy about the steelers), and west virginia university (people are crazy about wvu football). So we are either dead, or every guy that is in the club is watching the football game on the tv at the bar.
It is also slow right before and right after christmas for obvious reasons.

But one interesting thing is, most businesses are busier in the summer and slower in the winter, but i have found that clubs in this area are busier in the winter because there isnt much of anything else to do because it is so cold.
Summer time is usually slow, you get a lot of bachelor parties because of the weddings in the summer, but parties are usually young guys that dont spend much money.

I personally think that the whole strip club business is slowly declining though.
