    Credit monitoring

Does anyone do this on a monthly basis? If so, does this lower your fico score by monitoring it? Also, how do you like the service?

I want to sign up for Experian's credit monitoring for $12.95 per month. First month is free. I'm wondering if this is a good idea.

I have it and love it. Have had it for over a year now. I always know whats going on with my CR and it sends me emails when anything changes - new inquiries, new accounts. Good way to know if someone steals your identity.

It doesnt lower your score by monitering. Its just a way to know whats going on with your CRAs. It sends me notice when changes happen to all 3 reporting bureaus, not just Experian. But I get free reports from Experian anytime (the other 2 cost) When you pull your reports yourself you get a soft inquiry (not hard like cards, loans, etc) - and I havent noticed my score going down from them.

Its worth the piece of mind and convenience to me.... and I dont even notice $13 a month is being spent (what Id spend on a couple of mochas!)

I use it. I like truecredit.com Its a division of TransUnion, but it monitors all 3 bureaus and it seems to have the most accurate credit score. Its 14.50/month or so, and you can get updated info once per day, totally worth it.

I was with some other service that was a dollar or two cheaper, but it's credit score was WAY off (so I found out when I applied for a mortgage ) and it only rechecked your info like once every 6 weeks! Screw them!

So, when you are looking for a service, take a good hard look at how they calculate your score and how often you can pull a fresh report.
