Default What are the best ways to reduce chances of scarring?

I had a mole removed from my clitoral hood today. (Yeah I know weaird place to have a mole, but I assure you that's what it was), anyway, it was a small excission and the doc didn't use stitches or anything, but told me that there was a risk of some scarring. Now that it's been a couple of hours the tiony hole is now a bit swollen and looks much bigger and gaping. I'm wondering if it's all in my head or if I should go back and make him put a stich or two. How do I reduce my chances of scarring?

Congrats on finally having the mole removed. I remember reading previous posts of yours where it was a concern of yours.

Did he give you prescription antibiotic ointment? You could use polysporin with vitamin e if he didn't, but be careful not to irritate it too much. I had a mole removed down there as well, and my doc recommended showering with mild soap two times a day, and I used prescription antibiotic ointment. I was swollen for awhile, but I had stitches.

I doubt it's in your head. I had a small mole removed from my lower back and it left a gaping crater sized scar for years. You can still see it but its nowhere near as bad as it was 15 years ago.

Fawn, as a certified medical doctor, I will have to give your clitoral hood a thorough inspection. After all, a second opinion is the ethical solution. My results forthecoming.

As long as it's pure vitamin E (not in the form of a topical cream), I think it should be fine. Just break a vitamin E capsule and apply it over the healed scar.

I like pure vitamin E oil also. I had a burn scar that should be miserably noticable, but as it healed I applied E and it's barely there at all.
I have read to drink tons of water. And an aloe plant helps as well! Not just for burns.
Check out this site, it seems very helpful.
