When do we need to place our orders by? I'll order a few mixed batches for gifts before I head out to Memphis.

    Another update!

I was out shopping tonight and was trying to figure out the best way to giftwrap orders. I found some tupperware boxes that I should be able to wrap with just paper and put a pretty ribbon onto, which is the most cost effective option. I'm still searching for giftboxes that would be an appropriate size to fit the tupperware into as well that could be wrapped and ribboned, but that would be more costly. Which option would work best for those of you wanting giftwrapped orders?

srick them on the package, and enclose an order form for reorders...

as for the packaging, option 1 is fine by me. Wrap ther tupperware put it in a plain box.

I'm designing some sort of reorder flyer this weekend to enclose with the cookies that I'm sending out. Hopefully it will bring me some repeat business!

I use vegetable shortening in all the cookies except for the ginger and oatmeal raisin - I use butter or margarine for those. The difference I've found between using butter and shortening is that the cookies that use butter is the texture of the dough. If you take too long to get cookies containing butter into the oven, the dough becomes thinner and spreads more before baking even starts and doesn't get as much height. Shortening doesn't melt as quickly, so there is more leeway in terms of how quickly you've got to get those suckers in the oven.

There *is* a secret ingredient, but it has nothing to do with butter or shortening.

Hahaha If you've got pictures like that in your head, you'll be sorely disappointed by what my apartment *really* looks like! Old brick building, very plain looking. And the inside... well, our interior design consists of hanging model cars up on the walls and on all the bookshelves! Ask Cally, my place is super-lame. Oh, except for our couch. It is the world's best sleeping couch!
