Default make up is giving me very dry eyes.

Was wondering if anyone else gets this problem.. my eye area gets soooo dry from foundation and eyeshadow, eyeliner etc.. and forget about eye creams I am highly sensitive to them, I feel like my eyes are on fire when I use them.

what can I use to protect my eye area from all the makeup?

I use organic coconut oil / butter. You can buy jars of it at health food stores for around AU$10

Do you use it right on your eye area without any irritation?
I will give it a try!

I use almay moisturizing eye makeup remover pads and that helps me. I have never tried the coconut oil on my eyes, but I have used it in my hair and it works well, hmmm, now I want to try it on my eyes. I use cocoa butter on my eyes too, but I don't know how well that would work for you since you said you are sensitive to creams. Perhaps a switchup in makeup brands might be helpful too.

I have dry eyes as well. Make-up or the dry weather can cause it. Feels like sand in my eyes at times. I use Genteal (oil based cream drops) in my eyes. AHH it works. For a few minutes things may be a bit blurry, but that part goes away quick. This stuff i use twice a day, and i can tell when i missed it.

Good luck. You can buy this stuff at any store pretty much Walgreens, Walmart, etc.

that happened to me when i started using mac shadows. after one or two nights use my eyelids would get really flaky and i would peel it making it worse...becoming all red and puffy and irritated. probably for like 2 months. i kept wearing it like the dumbass like i am but somehow eventually it went away (i had to get used to it i guess?) and i have never had a problem since. now i just put jergens lotion on and its fine

    Yeah, this is true.

I use a lot fo "natural" moisturizers because they tend to work better for me than a lot fo the expensive stuff and you're less likely to get irritation. Olive oil, shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa butter--all are good.

This works for me as well. I'm very fair and my skin is so sensitive. I use a lot of the Cetophil products; they're super gentle and non-irritating. Make sure you are hydrated all the time or you will dry out faster.

i use johnson's baby oil to remove my eye makeup and i see no more dryness, but when i was in high school i had dry eyes. so maybe the baby oil helps? i get name brand though ($4) just in case the off brand hurts me.

Yep, I use it underneath make-up and also as a make-up remover, no irritation at all. I hope it works for you!

Vasoline, baby oil both contain petrochemicals so probably its best to avoid them.

I just got some silica gel and blackmores hair skin and nail minerals from the drug store, my hair dresser said it will help too so I am going to try this and see what happens..
I was told to avoid sugar because that makes you get wrinkles!! who knew???

have you tried using the ponds cold cream as an eye make-up remover. My mum has always used it. I cannot use most eye make-up removers because my eye area goes red and dry but that ponds stuff (it's the one in the round jar) is so gentle. I don't use it for my whole face coz it's far too oily and greasy and it makes me break out but it's perfect for eye make-up removal.

When the skin under my eyes get dry, I apply Vaseline to the skin when I go to bed and problem solved the next day. Try it.

Also when removing makeup use jojoba oil.

My post-work ritual for taking care of makeup and soreness.

Come home. Prepare a cup of hot tea. Drink tea. remove eye makeup, lashes, etc. with a loooooong bath. I use an acne scrub, because when I'mw orking and wearing makeup, it tends to make me breakout. Dry off, put some moisturizer on the face. My skin is slightly dry, so i use aveda allsensitive moisturizer. my face is VERY sensitive to lotions. Next, take the teabag, gt a cup of warm water, and place it over eye area or irritated spots, until it cools down. Dip it in the water, squeeze it out, and pic a new spot.

From my understanding, the heat makes irritants rise to the surface, opens the pores, and soothes.

But it works well enough for me....

I just did a bit of research on using Vaseline around my eye area and apparently it's really bad... "because not only will it make the skin under your eyes more dry it will also speed up the aging process (the opposite of what you want!) Vaseline is pure petroleum jelly. Petroleum jelly (like mineral oil) is a by-product of crude oil, in other words it is the garbage left over after gasoline and motor oil are made from crude oil. These products are occlusive, which basically means they sit on the surface of the skin and block moisture and nutrients from entering the skin and block toxins from exiting. Gross, huh? The fact is that many skin care products are made from this stuff. Why? Because it's cheap!

    hmmm..

On another note, I just got a hold of some organic coconut oil and put it under my eyes and so far no irritation but I usually get burning after a few days of using a product. I put some in my hair and WOW! this is the best (and cheapest, $ thing I have ever used! my hair has never felt better!!

Umm, y'all should totally be using an eye cream!! The skin around your eyes is the most sensitive and the thinnest on your body. Even if you're not dry, you should be using one. You'll thank yourself later.
