Default I Chickened Out coming Out of the Stripper Closet

Last night I told my self and my ex that I'm not going to lie about being a dancer anymore. I'm proud of what I do, I'm proud that I have the body, ability and mindset to do it, and I'm not going to hide it. Next time somebody asks me what I do, I'm going to tell them.
then I was in the car with this girl (granted I hardly know her and she dated my ex for years) and she asks what I do and i just stammered "oh um...waitress".
Though she may know anyway because her bf witnessed the huge breakup fight where friends from work picked me up and I said something like "I just went out with some friends but oh yeah, I'm a stripper so obviously I humped everyone in sight and did lots of drugs".
I was so pissed at myself. After the words came out of my mouth I really wanted to say "wait I lied I'm a stripper."

Better than getting found out by your bf's cousin's bf coming into the club then telling your family about it. It still made him look bad not me, but I wanted to be the one telling them when I was ready. Not some fucktard asshat who'll spend money at the club and not buying his daughter diapers.
I tell people where I work. If they ask I say I work at the Plaza, straight and simple, then they give me a look, and I smile. I don't tell them I'm a stripper, they just figure it out.

I totally lied to my dad last night about starting dancing next month on the phone last night. I told him I was moving to a place where I could make a lot more money, and when he asked me what I was going to do, I said ".....ummm... I'm gonna be a waitress". I felt bad for lying

It sucks that most people wont understand. I'm really nervous about it, too.

I lied to my dad for a long time.
Finally I lost my job at one club and was stressing about where to go next. My step-mom kept suggesting restaurants and stores to apply at. I finally got so annoyed with it that I blurted out "I'm a dancer!"
Of course she told my daddy. A few days later he asked, "so are you a topless dancer or something?" I said yes and he shook his head a walked away. End of conversation.
Every once in a while if I had a bomb-ass night I will say something but I can tell he doesn't want to talk about it.

Taylorlila, it's cool that you've decided to be upfront about it, but it sounds like this is someone who you probably weren't comfortable with being your first test subject. Sometimes it's cool to tell and sometimes not. Besides, most people understand if later down the road you tell them. I've never had any one question why I had lied at first.

yeah my family all knows, and my good friends, but it was kept on the DL otherwise. I think if I hadn't been alone with her and there weren't 15 minutes left to the car ride, I would have told her....but man that would have been an akward carride.
