    Default Squeeeee!

    My laptop came in!

It's pretty huge but that's OK because I wanted cheap + buttloads of space for all my perfectly legally downloaded music and naughty pictures. 120 GB, 1.5 GHz, DVD burner, all nice and shiny and fabulous!

    Soo...uh....what do I do now?

....no, seriously. If it's supposed to have Windows XP pre-installed, that means I should have Microsoft Word and stuff, right? "Search" is finding me no Word. Gahh I hate feeling dumb with computers.

It should have mircosoft office - my computer has Windows Vista and it came with Microsoft Word but I could not use it after 60 days unless I bought it. If youre a student youll want to buy the Microsoft Office student edition ($99 I think) I know its cheaper than Regular Mic Office. otherwise its or else you wont be able to get to your stuff after 60 days!

I feel like I got ripped off...this system should have more than Notepad on it! From the item description:

Windows Or Operating System - Windows XP Professional Pre installed, With COA (Certificate of Authenticity) on this product

Right? I'm about to call the Customer Support line and be like WTF but I want to be sure I'm supposed to have an OS complete with Word, Excel, etc already.

Not unless it specified it, XP doesn't come with Office unless you request it...

Windows is the operating system. Its what makes you be able to use a mouse and point and click to open stuff.

Before there was Windows you had to type in C:/folder/program to get to the program you wanted to use. All it was was a black screen with green typing.

Microsoft Office is a program. Theyre 2 completely different things.

A program - like a game - or any other program you put on your computer.

Your computer HAS the OP system - Its Windows.

You have to buy Microsoft Office. Some computers get a free trial of 60 days on their computer but you have to buy it either way. It is not free and is not a part of Windows.

Does this make sense to you?

Frick. Well, that answers my question. I assumed it would actually be ready to use when it said "ready to use." Thank you for answering my dumbass so I wasn't an ignorant bitch to Customer Support.

Guess that kind of took the "eee" out of my "squeee," too. Oh well, once it's pampered and installed and shit, yay I got a laptop. Woo.

Note : Do a search for WordPad - should be in Accessories under Programs. Its what I use and is better than NotePad

There are many options for Microsoft Office

    Home and Student - $149.99
    Standard - $399.99
    Professional - $499.99

For now just use Open Office.

For all intents and purposes its so close to Microsoft Office you wouldn't know the difference. Plus its free.
Guy #1: I'd totally hit that.
Guy #2: Dude, I'd hit that so hard whoever could pull me out would become the King of England.

Just pick the "Download" link at the top, then the download link in the green box after that, then pick the version that coincides with what operating system you are using.
