I started working at a club that three weeks ago: I bought the expensive adult entertainer's license, have obeyed all the rules, been nice to management as well as the rest of the staff and I have not been gossipy, I even pay the outlandish tip-out which is usually more than half I make all night (it's a VERY slow time right now)...I've done this all with a big smile on my face since I've started but this week it just got to be too much. Tuesday it was freezing inside the club (the heat was broken) and there were NO customers in the club for the first four hours. I ended up going home with $2 dollars in my pocket after tip-out and having to freeze my ass off all night.
So, Wednesday I came into work, took my time getting ready because I thought it would be like the previous night. Well I get called up on stage rotation even though I was clearly not ready (no one even bothered to inform me that I was expected to go on stage ready or not.) So, I let them skip me...no big deal I think because well, I can't perform if I'm not ready and there were only about 3 customers anyways. Well, I hurry and get ready then hit the floor, do a table dance and the bartender/dancer manager tells me to get ready before I get to work if I can't be ready to go on stage. I smile and say "okay." The stage rotation starts again and I wait and wait for my name to be called because I don't want to be accused of missing my stage time again...and then the rotation starts yet again and I have still not gone on stage. I go see the dj and he tells me that he was told to skip me the second time because I wasn't ready the first time. I immediately pack up my things and go see the club manager who I assume knew nothing about this because he was working the door. I tell him I need to go home and hand him my tip-out (some of which I had to compensate for using my own money from my other job.) I told him that there was no point in being at work if I was going to be treated like a second-class citizen and not be able to work. He told me to call him the next day if I wanted to talk about it.
I may have overreacted to the whole situation but considering how little money there is to be made at the club, the heat being broken, and being skipped on rotation I had really just had it. I can either call the manager and further explain what happened or I can just go in and pretend that nothing happened. I didn't make a scene or anything and quitting after paying for that damn license is just not an option unfortunately at this time.
