Default I'm NOT having a heart attack!

WTF. For the past 3 weeks or so, off and on I get terrible shooting pains in my chest. Left side. Aside from the shooting pains, my left arm feels very weak, and just...tired, kinda soreish...By off and on I mean one day it hurts, the next week it don't. Then comes back for a day or two, then goes away for 6days...It's sevre pain, and it keeps me up all night long.

So I try to google, but of course left side chest pain all I get is heart attack.
I'm not having a freakin heart attack. So wtf is wrong?

I thought maybe a potassium deficiency? cause that can cause heart palpitations i know, but these aren't palpitations. My heart isn't racing or beating funny. it just hurts.
So google is useless. Dr.s for heartpain sounds expensive. no can do right now.
So my dear SWer's who know everything....any ideas why my heart hurts?

I've been having random chest pains also. It feels like someone is grabbing my heart tightly and then letting it go slowly a minute or so later.

    Could it possibly be this?

I have no idea about your left arm. I've never experienced pain/soreness in my arms besides ya know from being stupid and leaning on it for too long, carrying more than I can handle, carpal tunnel, etc.

Hmmm...I'd get that checked out just to be on the safe side. A guy that I work with (who's only 37 btw) is now out of work til the end of the month because of a heart attack. Don't really know if his pains were like what you're having but he walked around the office for a couple of weeks stretching & swinging his arm because he said his arm was sore. The chest pains he contributed to indigestion. So one day he felt like crap and tried to take a shower to feel better and it kept getting worse and worse. A friend of his came to his house and he had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance, and the doctor said that he made it just in time. Heart attacks don't always happen all of a sudden. Be careful

Doctor time, plain and simple. It costs $$s, but guessing about heart problems is dangerous. Could be minor, but guessing online is not wise. See a doctor please.

I am not discounting you go the doctor, you should go. However, I had the same symptom when I had my very first panic attack. The ER doc told me when women have heart attacks it feels as though someone is sitting on the center of their chest. He said you'll feel strong pressure in the center of your chest. I am not saying that a panic attack is what is wrong with you, I am only relating my personal experience to the situation at hand...

Never feel like a fool when you walk into the ED. I have NEVER gone to a doctors office when i have symptoms, BUT i do have a heart condition. The ED is equiped incase you do have a serious problem.

Also You mention Potassium Deficiency? THAT can cause heart faliure alone.

PLEASE PLESASE you could have a problem relted to the heart! You are never too young to have a heart condition.

They show up as we age most of the time. Or we get a blockage etc. All related.

Go see a doctor ASAP. My brother-in-law had a condition that caused pain in his abdomen/ chest area. It was non heart related. Well, apparently he also was developing coronary artery disease but the other thing was masking it. He thought the pain in his chest was the other issue. This summer he died at the age of 32*. He had advanced coronary artery disease, that's nothing to mess with. Get it checked.

I had a panic attack on an airplane that felt like that.. it was horrible... but a couple hours I got off the plane it stopped. I have a history of heart attacks in my family so I was freaking out and it was probably all in my head-- but you should go to the DR anyways and get it checked out.

just wanted to let you know that I once worked with a girl who went into cardiac arrest...on stage...butt naked...at age 24.

Sharp shooting chest pains and a sore, weak left arm = a doctor visit I don't care how young you are. What if you have an undiagnosed pre-existing condition?

Definitely go. It could be some other form of heart disease, like an infection. Don't fuck around with your heart, just go to the ER right now if you haven't already.

Every time I go to the ER, nothing is wrong with me. according to them./
I'm tired of getting embarassed going to the ERfor nothing.
When I had a miscarriage(confirmed by my gyn) They said I was never pregnant. ERven though my blood work at the er showed a different story. Even though the ultrasound showed a different story.

Once, for absolutly no reason at all, my legs stopped working. I was standing atthe sink doing dishes and just fell over. I could not stand up. My legs just wouldn' work. I went to the ER then, sounds like a good reason to go to the emergency room, right?
NOpe. They said nothing was wrong, go see an orthepedic surgeon in the next few days, here's some crutches. Little giood crutches do when you can't stand on yoru own.
Luckily the next mornig I woke up and my legs worked again. I assume I had pinched a nerve?

Every single time I have ever gone to an emergency room, nothign is wrong and I feel embarassed hypochondriac. Plus, i can't pay them and I'm ired of medical bills collection agencies sending me letters.

When I have money again I'll go to the normal doctor where they actually find stuff wrong when I say it is.

In the meantime, I find laying very still helps the pain to subside. And it'll go away again...it only lasts for a day or so before it stops for a while.

I get this all the time, too, Kaylinn. Sounds like you're having severe panic attacks. I know all about the heart pain and the numbness of the left arm. My left leg will twitch sometimes, too. Maybe you should see a psychologist. When I described these symptoms to the psychologist.... they figured out what was going on, and now I take Klonopin to help control them.

not a panic attack. I've had pretty severe panic attacks, and they do't give me this kind of pain.
Plus....I'm not stressed out right now. aside from common life stressors like being completly broke. How can an unstressed person have a panic attack lasting 2 days and the only symptom is chest pain?
Maybe an anxiety thing, because I am anxious, but it's not a panic attack.

I honestly don't really think it's a heart thing. There's lot of other organs in there around that area that could be fucked up.

I don't know. I wanted to start working out again on Sunday to, but while this shit is going on it's not really feasible.

I think you should go to the ER at a different hospital. Would you rather die than get a bill?

    Walk in Clinic...
Different ED. You need without a doubt (firts thing ED's do is EKG) amoung an X-Ray at best. MRI better...but.

Yea there are alot of organs in the area, but not right in the heart where you say the pain is.

I have known of a few people who had major gass blockage and even they needed the help of medicine by a doctor. It would not release.

I don't know...this could be anything. Pain is a symptom that something is wrong with the body.

I wish you well. PLease go to another ED, and DEMAND (you have that right) to have tests because your chest hurts.

I'm in the same boat as you sweety. I'll get chest pains and both of my arms will ache. I've been to the doctor and was told my heart is fine. Unexplainable. I also have anxiety and I contribute this to panic attacks. Yet I'm also a severe alcoholic. I understand that you're frustrated with these blase diagnoses, but I recommend you switch doctors/hospitals until you find out what you need to know. It's scary girl, believe me, I know. Also, mine's been going on for about 4 years. Sometimes chest pains aren't "heart attack" related and just are unexplainable. And I've also read up on women's health whereas we generally don't get the typical signs of an attack - we get back pain, nausea, and fatigue before an attack. Do some WEB MD research. Good luck.
