Default are you seeing cutbacks in club customer spending ?

I'm not exactly sure if this is the right place to raise this issue, but ...

there were a number of financial news stories out today about retail sales and profits being WAY below average for the past month of October. Since clubs are a form of retail sales, and involve the sale of a 'non-essential' or even 'luxury' service, I'm wondering if the recent club earnings potential situation appears to be following the same downward trend as the retail stores.

    honestly no.

my october earnings were the most i had ever made, and that was with having 'indy' week off (the most lucritive week of the year here!) in saying that i am also working more nights and putting in more effort then i ever have.

    ill go with no.

I've had a great couple of weeks, although it's seemed a bit harder to make money.

Here in Maryland October sloed don a bit compared to september and the summer. There haven't been as many patrons and it's been harder to make money...I've never paid attention before though if this typically happens around this time of year or not.

I think so. This time last year I was making a ton of money easily and now I feel like even though the club is busy, they aren't buying dances and I have to really hustle for about half of what was basically thrown at me last year.

I agree. Even when its busy its not a spendy crowd. And is not just the club. Shops around here, restraunts aren't doing as great, people are aking out more loans, oh and the price of gas shot up like a bat outta hell.

I know for a fact that it is either the new law (which by the way my club wasn't following) or if they just don't have the money due to financial factor.

I just quit dancing and am going to start working on finding a "normal" job.

No, but I had a slow-ish summer (August-September anyways) so things are actually picking up.

Since I'm new and don't know, I'll just say what I've been told by the other girls here, yes, big time. They are getting very frustrated over the guys being hard to sell to. Since I've started when it was slow, I think it's going to be great for me when custies get spendy again, cuz then I'll have such a killer hustle, they'll just have to say yes and not even be able to think no!! haha! Some of the girls I've talked to say that I make great money because of my hustle (thank you girls!!) and they tell me they just don't have that drive and times were much easier last year.

I don't know why but the last two months have been uncharacteristically slow at my club. The summer was really good and usually it's the opposite. The worst thing about the slow times is not only fewer customers, but the dancer rollover that happens when nightly goals aren't being met. Like a dancer who usually counts on $600 in a shift makes $200 then has to show up three nights in a row to make her goal. Which leads to 26 dancers showing up to work at 3:00 on a Tuesday afternoon!

    Yes yes and yes.

The club has been pretty full, but you look around and see maybe three or four dances going at a time, and sometimes, not one!

    That's crazy!

And usually I could sell at least 5 dances to a guy in a row. Now I'm lucky if a guy agrees to two!!!!

OMG exactly! Its so much slower with twice as many dancers, which makes it even more frustrating. There have been sooooo many times lately where there have been AT LEAST twice as many dancers as there were customers.

Yes, yes, yes. Fewer customers, and the ones who do come inare cheaper. And I've had to deal with a lot more non-tippers trying to worm up to the rack.

But strangely, the summer was really good. Not sure why it's slowing down now.

My October earnings were pretty good...but do you have to figure in how many guys you dance for? I wonder if that factors in when you judge how spending is..because on my money nights I usually make money off of one or two guys that spend lots of time with me in VIP. It seems when I am forced to work the floor I am limited in how much I can make because it is usually a thin crowd and you can sometimes only get one or two dances per guy and then have to spend more time finding another one which sometimes can be time consuming.

And that is another thing! Do people tip on stage anymore???? Seriously, five years ago I used to at least make some money when I would do a stage set but now it isn't uncommon to do a set and not make a dollar!! People just sit there!! Do they think we get paid salary to dance there or something????

omfg I know. For the 1st 4 months I danced I NEVER did a stage without at least making sometimes, now it happens at least once a night. grrrr .

Do you know what the mother fuckers do now? They'll sit there, take their stack of ones with it, fiddle with it like they're going to tip you, so you dance for them, then refuse to tip you! I had 3 guys do that last night.

My club has its ups and downs no matter what time of the year it is. It goes in cycles. I am still able to hold my own though.

I was watching the news and they were talking about how the US dollar keeps dropping. Now gas prices shooting up again and in some parts of CA its close to $4/gal. Its about $3.15/gal where I am and hope it doesn't go any higher.

Other than the above I haven't had any bad nights since November started. I'm keeping my hopes up anyways.

Yes. Of course some clubs fare better than others but Pheasant Season in South Dakota has seen a big drop in head count and dance buying customers. The hotels are full or near full but guys aren't coming to the clubs except on the weekends and they seem tighter with their money.

I'm not seeing as many decent nights in a week. If we have one night where most of the girls are selling 15-25 dances, then the next two nights or the two nights prior girls aren't selling much unless they have regulars.

In our costume selling business, in many clubs we visit lots of the girls have no money, and few prospects within the club to get it from. Less older customers who are there alone, and more of the guys who are there in groups to drink and maybe tip a few dollars on stage. Girls want several outfits, but only have money for one, so that tells you LOTS of dancers aren't even clearing $100 or $150 a night.

No, it's been business as usual here. I made less money last year at this time, actually. But I'm in Canada, so I dunno.

Most of the gas stations in the vicinity of where I live in San Fernando Valley are charging $3.33/gallon for regular unleaded.....or higher. As for my club and its business, late Oct and early Nov have proved to be better than Sep/Oct in regard to spenders and earning potential but not by much.

I "see cutbacks" only when I go to work with a shitty attitude and/or when I feel fat and my confidence is down. Never when I'm on my game. The time of year has always had zero effect on my money--my earnings depend on internal factors, for better or for worse.
