Default Has anyone developed a drinkin habit?

Hi ladies! As I've said before I haven't been doing that well, but tonight it was really different! I had a fairly descent night! If I haven't already told you girls, I am always sober when I work! Tonight, I had a guy buying me jager bombs and it really loosened me up. After I tossed back three of those I was approaching everyone without hesitation! Is it really that bad to drink on the job? Because I'm thinking about trying that out for a while to see if it really helps my earnings. Is it easier for you girls to work a little intoxicated? What do you girls think about that?

Well, of course it's easier to make money when your drunk. Your loosened up, less inhibitions..
But do the benefits outweigh the risks?
    - although you might make more money, you also have a higher chance of losing the money cause yoru to drunk to keep track
    - Less inhibitions= looser lapdances. So many clean girls accidentially do naughty things they otherwise would not do sober. dum,b mistake, yes, but still. You can lose yrou job, get arrested, go to jail....worth it?
    - less inhibitions= less caution. A guy may try to take advantage of you.
    - less inhibitions= dumb choices ( like getting in your car, going home with a hot guy customer...ect.)

    - Drinking at work is a slippery slope to start. Because you feel more loose and open, and money seems easier, you begin to feel like you must drink to make money. Soon, you can't work without drinking.
Do you really want to develop conditions in order to work? You don't nee a crutch to do your job.

    Bottom line-drinking to make money=bad
A few drinks now and then in VIP or with a good customer, I see no problem with. Just don't make it anightly condition you need to do in order to work.

Better method- Embrace your drunk feelings. Pretend. Draw up that liquid courage without the liquid. Yeah..not as easy as it sounds...but just...if you got the confidance drunk, you got it sober to! You just gotta find it.

Hon, it's not that I blame you for wondering, and so cool to hear that you started out sober....for me it was not that way, I used to drink so much @ work (I'm no sloppy drunk tho) when I could. Now I work in a state where it's actually illegal for dancers to drink, and it's 1,000x better, I look back now and seriously feel so much better than I used to (at the end of the nite, during, etc.) and know that I'd never go back to it. Feh, it seems like a waste of a fun alcohol-fueled evening now. OTOH, I started in NYC.....crazy fucking contact....can kind of see how I didn't always stick to not drinking...

I made excellent $$ then, tho right now I know for a fact I'm the top earner at my lil hometown club, and I know that has to do with how efficiently I'm executing my strategy, instead of getting st00pid.

Basically you will still make the same $$ and more, and with drinking there's a huge risk of making LESS money (and crossing your boundaries) based solely on the alcohol factor.

^^^ Idk I wasn't new when I started drinking. I started at eighteen, never had a drink. No kidding not a drop at work. It wasn't until I turned 21 that I discovered the joys of working while intoxicated. Unfortunately it wasn't til I was 22 that I discovered the pitfalls.

Yes it can be easier to make money while drinking but no it's not worth it. There's nothing worse than waking up in the mornig and knowing you crossed your boundries. Nothing.

Of course, I wouldn't expect you to do anything other than try it out for yrself and see. (Isn't that how we all are?)

So my words of advice are: Be careful and I hope if you 'experiment' it won't last long. Please do not drive, don't let yrself be groped, don't get so drunk that you stay around chatting at the end of the nite while getting your shit together, (which is seeming to take forever) --gotta minimize that dr time---and the obvious---drinking too many nites out of the week is bad for your skin and weight.

Please be careful lady, that is all.

Don't make a habit of it! Seriously. I know what you mean about making more when you drink. I get a few drinks in me and I'm better on stage, I'm more flirty, I'm more confident in my approach to customers....but its not worth it in the long run. Even when youre throwing them back without hesitation, sometimes it all hits you real fast when you don't think your drinking that much. And yeah, easy to lose your money. I did this the other night, had a few shots, didn't drink that much for me, but I forgot my stomach was pretty empty and ended up trashed. I'm really lucky I got a safe ride home and nothing bad happened. However my car got towed and I'm lucky it wasn't broken into becasue I left my money thrown everywhere in it.
Nothings wrong with having a couple drinks now and then, or doing a CR and drinking some bubbly, but don't make a habit of it, and monitor yourself. It's bad for you anyway.

I am very new, but I am great onstage now! I've gotten over that stage fright thing now. I actually look foward to going on stage! Its the hustling part that kills me though, when I'm under the influence its easier for me to spark up a convo and keep it going! However, I have never been a heavy drinker, in fact I hate drinking so I could never picture myself stupid drunk! I hate it when girls get drunk to the point their just loud and beligerate for no reason and thats part of the reason I don't drink at work! Lastnight was the first night me trying it and It was kinda fun, I only drunk three shots of jager and it was more so a happy drunk! My job actually turned into fun for a split second!

If you're new, and don't like your job, and drinking turns your job "fun for a second," RUN. You're headed for nothing good if you continue like this.

You say that you can't imagine yourself becoming a stupid drunk. Does anyone? Alcohalism is such a sneaky disease. I think that it's SO important to distunguish yourself as a sober or drinking dancer. early. from the gate. For years, I had to be buzzed to get naked. listen to the ladies here. If you need to drink to work you shouldn't be doing your job.

You may not like drinking now but you will start to once you think your making more money under the influence.

In the end you will end up owing the bar money at the end of the night(so add a hefty tab on top of huge tip outs) you will get sloppy drunk, you will be 'that girl'(not something you want) and customers will take advantage of you and its just a bad thing... never mind you will find yourself in the stripper hall of shame thread lol.

Anyway seriously don't use alcohol to loosen you up. Its just a bad road to travel down.

I went through a phase of drinking a bottle of wine before work every time. It started off as "just a wee glass" before my audition for dutch courage which worked a treat. Then it was a few glasses, then i had a bad night and the next night i finished off a bottle. One night i drank a bottle of wine and took a bottle of vodka in my bag to work, slipping in every now and then for a drink.
As you can see once you start its easy to escalate.
One night i worked sober and saw my usual dressing room drinking buddy stumbling around the room making an arse out of herself. Mid way through the night she sold her first (and only) LD room and proceeded to fumble around wildly, tripping over her dress, in some attempt at a lap dance.
Then she spent the rest of the night being sick in the bathroom. I found her outside at the end of the night contemplating going home with one particularly scary guy for a "party".I put her in a taxi before she did something she would regret.
It made me wonder how others view me when i am drunk and the daft things i do: like the time i went on stage drunk, and slipped-injuring my toe and not realising until an hour later when i noticed a trail of blood on the dressing room floor.
Long story short-a drunk lady is not attractive, it hurts your money,an hinders you from carrying out your job properly. Don't get me wrong a nice glass of bubbly in the CR every now and then is a nice treat, but when you start downing bottles of vodka in the toilets, you know it's got out of hand.

I am pretty much an alcoholic. However, I would seldomly get drunk while dancing. I never had a fear of the stage or hustling. Still, eventually my tolerance got really strong and I could sip on drinks all night and barely feel a buzz. Be careful, as its hard to get out of that mindset when you quit. After I retired, I was so used to drinking often and heavily that it took me a long time to realize I couldn't continue to live that way if I wanted to be successful in the professional world.

If you wouldn't drink at an office or cashiers job, don't do it at a strip club. If you must drink, have maybe one MIXED drink. Guys try to get us drunk all the time. You HAVE to turn down drinks. Order bottled water if someone wants to buy you a drink. Tell the customers you're diabetic.

You've GOT to approach customers readily and make conversation and ask for dances sober. It's not hard to do. The guys are just people. They don't bite. Some you will sell and others you won't. Just move on to the next guy when someone isn't interested. This is a selling job. Some people will buy and some won't.

    That's it.

    Good luck.

I count myself lucky that I can't drink very much before I get deathly ill. (I'm a lightweight and have IBS/IC) Has kept me from acquiring a drinking problem.

Another reason not to drink: your health and your looks. One of my BFF was telling me that she gets pains in her lower back when she starts drinking.

You know what that is? Her kidneys. It usually will hit your liver first. She is 31, btw.

I also work w/ a dancer who just turned 22. She would knock back pitchers of beer during her shift. She just had gall stones or kidney stones removed (can't remember wich). She is not allowed to drink anymore. Anywhere. Because she CAN'T.

It depletes your vitamin C in a big way also.

    Just be careful.

in all honesty, i'd probably get drunk a lot more at work if a) i wasn't a stage performer and b) i didn't drive to work every night. if i'm drunk and have to go on stage it really fucks with my anxiety, and i refuse to drive home drunk.

but yeah, if i'm not either drunk or high on ritalin, i don't ever really make money. i can do great stage performances when straight, but i don't have any confidence to be able to talk to people and ask for dances when i'm not fucked up.

Here's my 2 cents; I've been doing this (dancing) for ten years. I'm a full blown alcoholic. Didn't start that way, but that's where I ended up. I don't get sloppy drunk, I drink to calm my nerves and I generally maintain a set pace. But it SUCKS! I'm entering inpatient rehab here pretty soon. It's not even work anymore. I have a straight up vodka on the rocks once I wake up. I sleep like shit, I'm sweaty, and constantly shaky until I get some booze in me. I have a disease, I'm fully aware, and am ready to seek help. So I guess what I'm saying is that if you've gone this long sober thus far, STAY THAT WAY! Relying on booze for anything is so terribly destructive in every aspect of the word. Do it for your health and sanity.

When I first started I thought I had to drink to work. When I stopped drinking, I immediately started making more money, like 2x-3x more than when I was drinking.

The biggest misconception about the strip club industry is that it is not SALES. Work on your hustle instead. Break through the fear of approaching men and learn how to make cute, sexy conversation with them. Pay attention to your conversation flow. Don't lose track of your goal: get them to get dances.

Drinking at work is SOO tempting when you first start, because it loosens inhibitions. But if you instead work on your sales skills, you will be a lot better in the long run.

Default Re: Has anyone developed a drinkin habit?

The first club I danced at was in Hong Kong where we made the majority of our money off drink commissions ($25+/drink). Now we always had the option of ordering faux drinks, but it is a really small club and the customers catch on fast, and its the girls that drink for real with them that make the money. So under these conditions you really cannot turn down a drink. Nothing makes you develop a habit faster than convincing yourself it makes you money.

Now I've never had more fun in my life, but it was also a time when I saw/did more fucked up things than I care to remember. There were three girls that had been working there for years and it seemed almost weekly ended up in hospital for various accidents that happened while they were drunk/high. One of them couldn't even go ANY hopsital anymore because they were all chasing her for unpaid bills. Just one of many incidents was when an American girl ended up in the police station with NO PANTS, NO UNDERWEAR and NO PASSPORT while working without a visa and absolutly no idea how she got there.

All that aside it was one of the most addictive environments I've ever worked in. There was so much BIG money going around, and it seemed like everyone was always having a good time. It was only when I got back to Australia and sobered for more then 12 hours that I realise how fucked up it was. I would drink until I threw up 6 days a week. Imagine all the damage I caused to my teeth, liver, kidneys etc My time there has turned me into an 'all or nothing drinker' for life. I can no longer control how much I drink. I either don't drink at all, or I drink until I fall over.

Not long after I returned to Australia I developed a stomach ulcer which put me in hospital. I don't think Bicardi 151 goes down any better than it comes up. When I was discharged I psychically couldn't drink alcohol for around a month(not that I didn't try a few times). I was forced to go to work sober, and have pretty much stayed sober at work ever since with only a few exceptions. I honestly don't think I could work as much as I do if I drank. When I drink, I sleep poorly, eat badly, throw up, bruise and develop a really hollow complexion. The only way I can get into work mode if I've drunk the night before is to drink again.

I'm a more consistant earner now. I don't have either great nights or bad nights. Now I have good nights and great nights.

So my advice is this: Drinking will only make you money in the short term. In the long term you will make less $$$ and possibly perminently damage your body. It's not worth it.

I started dancing when I was twenty, so I had to wait a few months before I could even drink. When I started drinking though, I did the same thing as you, and saw a big improvement in $$. It loosened me up, let me say more naughty things, and the guys generally had more fun.

I hold liquor pretty well. And, I generally get into this super happy affectionate drunk state. For a long time, every one at my club didn't even realize how drunk I was every night because I wasn't passing out or getting sick like the other girls would.

Finally a few bouncers started noticing, then bartenders, then management. They all teased me really bad about it, (in a fun way) but it made me start to look at my own drinking.

I realized that yeah, the first few weeks I made more money, but after a while it made me into a very LAZY stripper. I would sit and wait for the waitress so I could get a drink rather than go do a lap dance, and other things like that.

Now, I enjoy drinking so I don't want to get to the point where I have to stop completely, so I'm changing how I look at it. Now, I always buy myself a Corona at the start of my shift. (I love Corona!) I won't drink until I've made $100. If I make 100, I'll have a drink and a shot. (I drink straight whiskey and a whiskey and peach shot, so that lasts me a while). If it's slow and I get into that "well tonight's slow, and I really want to drink", then I absolutely don't let myself have a drink until I've made my goal.

So far it's been working pretty well, and I've been leaving with only a slight buzz. Point is, drinking at work escalates really really quickly into a full blown problem. I'm lucky that I caught it before it spilled over into life outside the club. Just be careful, and know your limits. Maybe set a goal for when you can have a drink?
