    Default Hooters...

Sometimes I feel like working at Hooters just because theres one right down the road from me and I have a good friend that works there and makes good money and said it was easy.

    Does it suck horribly there?

I'd considered working there and then just stripping on the weekends.

But I don't really know why. Stripping is fine too. Just seems like itd be easier to work right down the road and know for sure I'd leave with money.

But it wouldn't be stripper money.

    Hmm.

    Thoughts?

    Experience?

How about you go apply for hooters and try working there. You could still dance a little. If you don't like it you can quite there.

I think Hooters will fire you if they find out you are a stripper. So I've heard.

One of my girlfriends just quit her job at Hooters. I'm glad because all she ever did was bitch about the working conditions and that she was making no money. I look at it this way..if you are going to get sexually harassed anyway, why wear orange shorts(gross) and panty hose for $100 when you can make $500 in a thong and not leave smelling like clam strips and beer ?

I worked at a Hooters as a 2nd job on the weekends for about a year. It had pros and cons. Mostly I didn't like because guys would go there almost expecting you to be giving them lap dances when in reality you are just their waitress. If you got rauncy with customers then they fired you. One girl got fired for dancing on a table...haha! I don't think alot of the customers realized it was just a restaurant. Also I got a lot of families that would come in and the wives would give me dagger eyes and try to find things wrong with my service so they could talk their husbands into not giving me a good tip. It was fun some days...I met a lot of cool people and I made pretty good tips but the work was exhausting and the managers were so lame. If you have visable tatts you have to cover them. PM me if you have questions. Also check their website...it has come information about the company and what not. I say give it shot and if you don't like it then quit. I hear each location is very different...just like strip clubs your experience will vary from one Hooters to another. And yes I still have my old uniforms...hehe!

    Thumbs down Re: Hooters...

I wouldn't do it, simply because I hate food service work. Plus, combined with a lot of the same BS we have to deal with stripping for far less money!? No thanks!

There was some waitress at my old club that got a day job at Hooters. She had to quit cuz they have some kind of company policy that you can't work in a strip club if you work at Hooters, also. Even if you're not a stripper, they don't want their employees working in the strip club, period.

And there's no money like titty bar money, you already know that.

I won't eat at Hooters. The gimmick is just not sufficient to compensate for the terrible food. Also, it is a form of mediocrity at it's finest. If I want to see strippers, then I'll go to a strip club. If I want to eat, I'll go to a restaurant I enjoy. Hooters is a case of doing two things badly rather then doing either thing well.

I think their "stripper policy" is fucked.

What you do on your own time off is none of their business. I had a prior company I worked for try and pull the same shit by telling us what we couldn't do on our time off....I sued them and won.

yeah I went there once and the food and the service sucked. but we had a great time trying to figure out if the 6 foot tall waitress with fake boobs was a transexual or not.

I had a salad with spicy grilled chicken strips. That particular dish was pretty good, actually. I had about five different cute waitresses come by the table and sign the tab like they were autographing for me or something, but I had a hard time getting anyone to come by and refill the water or actually deliver the check. I was being polite and courteous. I wasn't even in The Trance. It was a little weird.

But to get to PookaShell's question, I left my customary tip, about 20%, because the service wasn't exactly stellar. So they didn't make any more than any other waitress, and apparently they were splitting the tips? From my own perspective, I don't see it as a gold mine.

i worked there before i danced and i loved it. yeah, its true you cant work there and dance at the same time, but thats only if its corporate. 1/2 the hooters are corp and 1/2 are franchise. franchise has very diff rules and the uniforms are even slightly different. i dont know why everyone bashes it, i had a blast when i worked there!

as for that.. i dont know about that particular location but we made more than reg waitresses. at most restaurants you tip out a lot. you only tip out 3% of your sales at hooters. and there ARE big spenders just like in a strip club. i had a guy tell me that if i remembered his name, he'd tip me $100. and he did. i had regulars that came in and constantly tipped me $100, whether the bill was $15 or $50. i certainly made more than regular waitresses. not stripping money, but much better money than i would assume regular waitresses make.

I think it depends on what regualr restraunt you're talking. I've only ever had to tip out ANYTHING at 1 restraunt out of many, and that was 10% of only alcohol sales to the bartender.
If you really want to make good money waitressing I'd try somewhere where you can waitress and cocktail. I used to work at a pub, where we served food until 11, then til 1 it was just cocktailing. I never left with under $300 on a weekend which is pretty good for not taking off your clothes, and never made less than $100 ever.

That is much more authoritative than my experience, then. And yeah, if they had actually paid a little attention to waitressing and flashed smiles and been cutesy friendly, the wallet would've opened up a lot more. no doubt. I'll confess to being a guy.

Well said! Hooters down the road from me is always dead, probably because the sick manager has a knack of hiring girls who look TWELVE!!!!

Trick from a Hooters girl: She said padded bras and wear two! LMAO!

Pooka my love, there is a reason they call it Stripper JV. And you are already the captain of the varsity team.

There is way, way too much variability in money at Hooters. It does matter whether you work corporate or franchise, mostly because of the rules and the managers.

Most girls quit because of the management. Management treats them all like interchangeable commodities and eventually many of the girls move on to waitress at bars or strip clubs because the Hooters managers are dickless, clueless douchebags. Plus, they are always hitting on the girls, and they have the sophistication, physical appeal, sense of humor and social status of a beached whale. There's actually a strong physical resemblance, come to think of it.

Most of the customers, even in upscale locations, are not big spenders. It's not unusual for a girl to work a double (12 hours) and walk out with $150 after tipout, and that's at the suburban DC stores, where there should be money.

One thing Hooters shares with SCs is that there is an advantage to cultivating regulars. The girls who have regs, or enough seniority to have the pick of the best tables, will do much better than any waitress in a normal restaurant. With the sole exception of waitresses in strip clubs. Honestly, the hierarchy goes: Hooters waitress -> SC waitress -> SC dancer. The money increases with increasing rank on this scale.

There are exceptions. Big ones. You are so stunning that you may attract enough regulars to make it worthwhile. You will almost certainly attract manager attention, but you already know how to manage guys like that.

There are only 1 or 2 big spenders in any Hooters, and if he's a reg, the girls already know who he is and have probably cultivated their own relationship with him. I'll break a rule here by actually mentioning the money I spend, something I've tried to be more discreet about lately, but I think it's important for you to see the high end, which is extremely rare, before you sit for an interview and then have to go through all the training and take the stupid tests.

I usually tip the girl who has my table a flat $500. We usually hang out in clubs on weekends, and obviously this is a small, select group and something we set up in advance. I also take care of other crises in their lives, but that's old news on this site.

The other girls in the restaurant each get $100 or $200, depending on how awful their night has been. On nights where the managers will not cut until the girls have sold X number of calendars or a certain value of merch, I'll buy out all the calendars or buy shirts, tote bags or shoes for the girls equivalent to the merch requirement. The restaurant requires them to buy the shoes on their own, and will instruct them when to do it.

There are exceptions to these numbers, and a few events (mostly 21st birthdays) where I make an effort to make sure the waitress can go out with all her friends and have a fabulous time. You only turn 21 once in your life, so it should be memorable.

Hooters girls who have endured obnoxious, unpredictable management as well as abusive customers for at least two years wear a pair of 0.5 carat per earring Tiffany's diamond earrings, a testament to their ability to withstand treatment that would not be tolerated at most restaurants.

So my advice to you is to see if there is money in the store, and whether there are any big spenders there who takes care of the girls. If not, you are honestly much better off dancing or waitressing in the clubs. I say all this, recognizing that you would look impossibly adorable in the black uniforms (the orange and white is like a bad Disney nightmare).

im going to have to argue a few of these points. i did quit because of management, but that was over one thing. i went 8 months with zero problems with management.

i made more money at hooters than as a waitress in a strip club. i waitressed at 2 clubs and never made consistant money. and i dont know of any hooters that they pick tables based on senority. we always played silly games, or drew nametags, to get the order to pick tables.

again, not in my store. my store was the #1 store in sales in the region 8 years in a row. and there were MANY big spending regulars.

The black uniforms were really cute! I always loved my camo uniform the best...so did all the military guys that came in haha! I was so sad when they had us stop wearing those. The orange shorts are so ugly. The worst part is the pantyhose...god I hated wearing those.

I agree that you will probably make more waitessing at Hooters than waitressing at a lot of other places. That isn't true in all cases but when I waitressed at Hooters a lot of the girls said that they made the best money at Hooters as opposed to bars or other restaurants.

At my store you only had to tip out the bartender. If the bartender did a shitty job you didn't HAVE to tip her...but I always did.

I had a lot of regulars that came in which was cool. In fact one of my regulars was a family...they were so sweet! Their little boy was adorable and they always tipped really well.

I stayed drama free and got along with the other girls, cooks, and the managers. I just really didn't like the way the managers treated a lot of the other girls. They gave one girl so much crap because she had gained a little weight and needed to go from a size small to medium uniform .

I only worked there as a second job to save up some extra cash when my day job wasn't cutting it. I quit when I had enough money saved because I really think the managers played favorties WAY too often for my taste.

I think people either love it or hate it there. I personally had never been to a Hooters before I started working there and haven't been back since I quit. It was fun for a short time and I always have a halloween costume if I can't think of anything else to be haha!

I happen to like the food myself. The girls are rarely that hot to justify going there just on the merit of the waitresses.

I only eat the wings though. I get whatever number of wings I want + curly fries and drinks. They have my favorite buffalo wings of any restaurant.

San Diego has 3 Hooters within like a 10 mile radius and then another one 30 miles away in Oceanside. We love us some Hooters.
