Can they do this?!
I just filled out an application for Ulta.
It goes thru the normal stuff
Then asks for permission for a background check. Asks about felonies, blah blah. Normal stuff but a lot more intense.
Then has a 120 question 'personality test'. Fine, ok. Cept that they have 4 questions per page and its a pain in the ass.
THEN it goes on to this:
Work Opportunity Tax Credit
The following questions are voluntary and pertain only to the Work Opportunity Tax Credit Program. The information collected will not be available to the hiring manager and will not be used to determine employment eligibility.
Yet theres no way to NOT answer these voluntary questions
Heres some of the questions
It goes on to ask about have you ever been on AFDC, have you ever gotten food stamps... all kinds of questions about this... over and over for like 20 pages of questions about AFDC.Are you a foster child on behalf of whom state or local government payments are made?
How many members are in your immediate family?
What was your family income over the last 6 months?
They SAY its voluntary but theres no way to not answer them. Theres not a 'Would you like to continue and do the Work Opportunity Tax Credit questionaire 'yes' 'no' like there is on other questions.
Ive NEVER EVER EVER seen this on any other application. Ever. Is this even legal?
It irked me because I got welfare for a few months when i was 18 but this was YEARS ago and see no relevance to welfare that i got 6 years ago and a job im applying for now. I filled it out because I didnt want to lie to a potential employer but WTF?! It made me feel like crap to have gotten welfare but i was 18 and had a full time job but was making min wage. Was on a few mos til i started dancing... is it even legal to ask this?
They SAY its voluntary but its NOT... theres no way around it. You click exit to not answer and you cant finish the application.
What IS this?
