Well, it just figures. I waited tables for almost three years and my parents never once came to "visit" me at work. I figured they wouldn't at my fake job that I tell them about to cover dancing, right?
No such luck.
My mom came down to the restaurant where I'm supposedly working tonight to come and see me, and called me asking why I wasn't there and why no one seemed to know who I am... I made up some BS about switching shifts with a girl who wanted to go out Saturday, and how there's been a lot of turnover lately. I don't think she bought it. Crap.
Must come clean. Reeeeally don't want to. And just before the holidays, too.
*sigh* Any advice on how to make this is quick and painless as possible?![]()

But don't sweat it. I'm not really sure how to start the conversation, but try mentioning that your job makes you feel good about yourself and empowered, or something along those lines. Let her know that you're really happy about what you're doing, or that you weren't happy with life before you became a dancer.
