Default Running pain-too much too fast

I took up running again and I think I overdid it this week, I did like 15 miles in 4 days after working out really inconsistently for ages. now my glutes hurt, not sore, but the impact from each foot hitting the ground when I start jogging really hurts my whole lower butt, back of thigh area. But just moving around and stretch I am not sore.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I guess I will stick to fast walking and the bike until it doesn't hurt so bad, but I really like running as a stress reliever. Obviously I was really stressed last week, lol.

well, as long as it's muscle pain, and not joint or connective tissue pain, I wouldn't sweat it. It doesn't really sound like too much too soon, more like your body saying, "uh... what the hell are you doing??" Wait a day or two, make sure you stretch and rub your legs down, and get back out there!!

You could try mixing it up until you start to get back into the groove. Go longer one day, and shorter the next. It'll give you a good workout and exercise, but will give your muscles a chance to recoup while still being pushed some.
