Default I want to see my family!!

And this morning, my sister called me. She has been missing me terribly and devised a plan for me to go to Idaho to visit. It would include me and The Baby being gone from home for Thanksgiving, which is my and my sister's favorite holiday. She said she would drive down here on Friday and take me and The Baby back with her on Saturday and then would bring us back home around the 30th. Boyfriend said no, that he wants to be with his family for Tday. I don't know if he means his family as in us, or as in his family that lives near us who we already get to be around the rest of the year. Boyfriend works all the time, I'm home all that time with The Baby and doing nothing. I can't understand why the hell he wants me to continue sitting at home when I could go visit my sister, her 4 girls and see a ton of my friends in Idaho, all of whom (except my sister) haven't met The Baby yet. And on top of it all he may have to work his 2nd job (he's a server at a restaurant) on Tday anyway!!

    End rant.

Awwwwww, Glam! Sorry honey! When will he know for sure that he works on Tday? Couldn't you spend Tday with your folks and Christmas/Chanukah with him?

I say go visit your family and friends in Idaho! If your sister offered to pick you up and everything, I'd go for sure especially since you said they haven't seen the baby yet! Like you said, you're around his family year-round so he should understand and let you go.

If I can make enough money to buy myself a plane ticket across the country, I want to go visit my family for Christmas but not on the actual day. My man doesn't want me to go. I haven't seen my family for months and I miss them terribly. My sisters miss me like crazy too. On top of all of that, I'm pregnant for the first time with the first grandbaby! Ahh so I really want to go. Why do men have to be so difficult?

Thats a tough situation. I couldnt imagine having a baby in a carseat for that long of a drive either. Why cant you celebrate Thanksgiving a bit early or late so you can do that with him and still see your family?

Well, we will be going up there for Christmas. That visit will only be like 3-4 days tops, though.

And check this out...I had a MySpace message from my sister's BF that he wanted me to call to see if we could work out a way to get me and The Baby up there as a surprise for my sis. He has some frequent flyer miles on United and they're running a special right now and he could get me a round trip ticket from SFO to Boise. I'm gonna talk to Boyfriend and see if he'll change his mind if we're flying vs. driving...and maybe staying less days.

It is hard when couples have to divide out hoildays. For what ever reason that may come across! Yet you have to communicate with him and stand your ground. How important it is you guys share hoildays with both families. It is not fair that you guys are putting your family off to the side. Your family have not had a chance to see the baby. His parents are there already! So thanks giving with his family unless they are jews. Christmas with your family. A good grandmother and aunts deserve to see the new unit of the family.

If they're running a special right now, take it! I know I would. Like AudreyLeigh said you could always celebrate the holidays twice. If I can make it to my family's, I'll celebrate it with them and then do it again with my man once I got back. No big deal..at least I think so.

Thanks I hope everything works out for the best and I can go. I know my mom would want to see my belly and feel the baby. My 4-year-old sister would probably freak lol

Well it's a really long story but basically he thinks we should go together. He's really clingy. I'd invite him but my family doesn't like him much and plus he'd be a huge distraction if he came along as bad as that sounds. The last time I invited him along, he just..he never knows when to stop talking. I barely got a word in with my family and got to relax. So I'd go alone to get the most out of the trip since I'll only be able to see them like once a year if even that.

Listen to your own advice! If you can afford the time off and all, goooooooooooooooo! Sure, his feelings will probably be hurt for a while but your happiness comes first. If Mommy is happy then the rest of the household will be happy.

    We have reached an agreement!!!

Provided my sister's BF can get it booked, I will be flying up there on Saturday and returning Thanksgiving afternoon!! We are going to have Tday dinner around noon at my sister's house and Boyfriend's family will be having dinner around 5. This is going to be awesome, because it's my favorite holiday and I get to celebrate it with everyone!!

you know what..... that statement really made me think.....

my family is probably only going to be judgemental and make me feel icky. I'm sure they won't approve of me living with my boyfriend, and i'm not confident they'd make him feel welcome, or even let me stay in the same room with him.

Besides he doesn't have a lot of time off of work..... just that thurs and friday.
We'd end up getting a hotel and renting a car to go for just 2 days, so i'd really not even see them a lot of the time... and i don't wanna go without him, even if i could stay longer. I can't drive on the interstate that far alone anyhow, i get anxiety really bad.

I think I'll just cook my own thanksgiving dinner, and we'll invite people we really want to be around. I'll just tell my family i can't get away from work, so they don't feel snubbed.

I'm really happy woth this decission now

I'm nervous to cook than ksgiving dinner myself though! but it'll be small. Probably just 4-8 people. Not too much responsibility, not more then i can handle.

Well, I'm glad I could help!!

As far as Tday dinner, if you're gonna do turkey, I saw some ready to cook turkey commercial. I think it's the Jennie-O brand? Anyway, I've never cooked a turkey before and if I was going to try, that's the route I'd take. Luckily, my sister is an awesome cook and always has an amazing Tday spread.

Let us know how dinner turns out!!
