Default Needing to take time off

I'm going insane, seriously. I have too much schoolwork, a sewing committment and now I have the big scary dr's appt on the one day I have off all month. I really need to take time off work (because that's the only thing I feel I CAN take time off from-everything else is local) and I am so nervous to call and tell them I need to not come in until December if possible (we have a schedule). I'm afraid I'll be fired. Ideas, anyone? Should I just tell them about the health probs and not the rest? I don't really have the money to take off for too long and I don't want to have to go to yet another club.

I'm actually taking time off right now

What I did was first and formost...get your financial situations ready, if you really can afford to take the time off, are your bills covered this month or the month after (worst case scenerio)?

As for management, they shouldn't fire you if you let them know ahead of time and it's going to be a longer amount of time, as for explaining reasons yeah just meantion the health conditions because how could they say no to that?

If they do fire you, that's bullshit good riddance anyway.

I'm taking the month of November off right now Then when December comes I'll be all fresh and ready to make money.

Your club doesn't allow for vacations? At my club, it's pretty simple.. When you sign the schedule for the next week, you just write "vacation" and what your return date will be. Everyone needs vacations once in a while to prevent burnout. I've figured out that I can go about 3 months before I need 3 weeks off or so. I know some girls who work 6 months, take 3 months off, etc. Do whatever your finances will allow you to. Don't feel lazy -- in the long run, you'll be making more money than if you'd had a complete burnout and couldn't make money anymore period.

i'm sorry you're so overwhelmed. but you're really smart, and you've got good priorities. Everything will work out.

Just let the most nice/understanding mamager know you're dealing with a serious health issue and your doctor has told you it'd be best for you to take a few weeks off. offer to bring in a doc. note. Doctors give them pretty freely in my experience. i've gotten out of some major work drama with a note from my doctors. since it's a pretty intensly physical job, often with a smokey enviroment and really late hours, it's understanding that you'd need time.

We make our schedules for the month, so I don't know how they'll be about cancelling a week or two. I think I'll go in my next shift and talk to them in person. Most of the health stuff is just exhaustion, but I have to have tests (the lump post) done as well. I bet I could get a doc's note. I hate talking to mgmt!

I'm also going to talk to one of my profs and see if I can skip out on another field trip this weekend so I have Saturday off to sleep and get some stuff done.

I have such a prob with taking time off-I was so raised with the 'work till you die' ethic, even though I hate working for 'the man' I transfered that feeling onto stripping too! I did however, nc/ns Sunday (bad, I know), so obviously I can get over it.

    Thanks!

definitely tell them about the lump. honestly, and this is going to sound awful, but if you cry it might help matters. tell them you dont want to miss work but you're freaked out and could do with a week or two away from work. that when you get back you will happily work 6 day weeks or something. lord knows you dont HAVE to do that, but the offer is the thing that counts.

    Love it!

Rose they will let you take off. Explain to them it is a medical situation, and if you are going to the doctors, just get a note. They will understand. There are a couple girls RIGHT NOW who are taking a LOA. Tell them it is serious.........yeah and I second Chrissy's opinion that crying helps
