Smiley saline vs.silicone unders & transax vs. nipple incision

    Hi Ladies,

I was going to get my boobies done from an A to b or small C several months before, but bailed out because I just wasn't ready to take the plunge, especially financially. Right now I have enough $ saved up, and already put a deposit on the surgery with the doctor. I would really appreciate your ladies' advice on this...
The doctor suggested I do silicone under-the-muscle with the nipple incision. He said it was because since my boobs are so small (AA), I have very little mammary creasing to begin with, and the nipple incision will create the best access to creating the breast pocket/fold. The doctor also does transax saline, which I originally wanted done, but he kept suggesting I do the silicone unders with nipple incision.
My dilemma: I'm worried about the nipple incision healing keeping me out of work for longer than the trans-armpit incision due to healing. I'm also worried about nipple sensation loss: Has any of you ladies heard or expetienced a lot of nipple sensation lost when the nipploe incision was done...or does sensation decrease in general if anyone has any kind of breast implant with any kind of incision?
-Will it really make a difference to do silicone under the muscle instead of saline under-the-muscle? I figure that if the saline is under the muscle, no rippling will be felt anyways, correct, so what's the need for silicone? Or am I wrong? I don't think I have done enough research on this, and could use all the advice I can get here from you wonderful ladies! Does the silicone feel softer and more real than saline...if it's under the muscle? Or is the difference so little that it doesn't make a difference?
-have you heard that if the woman has very small boobs to begin with, that doing the incision closer (like nipple or in the breast fold) helps make the placement more accurate, or is that just bs? can just as good a job of implant placement be done with through the armpit?
-Is healing on the nipple really good in general? Or will I have to use special make-up when I returnaback to dancing (ideally return to work after 2 or 3 weeks of taking off work)? Or is there possibility I will not heal well (I will stay away from smokers, and take my vitamins, apply vitamin E, and such)?

-If you were the judge, what would you choose and why: Silicone under the muscle, through the nipple, or saline under the muscle through the armpit? ...thinking of factors like feel, healing, loss of nipple sensation due to incision choice, healing time, the way it looks and bounces, etc?

P.S. The doctor doesn't like to do incision through the mammary fold becase it tendds to be visible when someone is looking up at you (especially since I only want to be a full B/small C). And because rif I ever want to go larger implants, then that i ncision will end up being on my actual breast...it gets moved up when you put in a larger implant, if that makes sense I hope.

I'd really appreciate any input from you ladiesd! thank you sooo much! This website has been soooo valuable to me!

There is a world of difference between saline through the armpit and silicone through the nipple. As far as choosing one over the other becuase the incision will heal faster- No. You should wait at least 6 weeks to do ANY activity either way because otherwise you risk rupturing the implant. If you rupture the implant you will need to have another surgery, you will be out of work several more weeks and the surgeon may not be able to fix the damage you have caused.

My first breat aug was saline trans- axilliary and I was VERY pleased.

<-- this is how it turned out.

    Good luck.

I remember reading an old thread about how one dancer damaged one of her implants by negligence and 7 surgeries later it still looks terrible.

If you're going to do it, remember its your body. Do it right. Go to a good surgeon. Spend the money. Take the time off of work. If you can't afford to get a good doctor and take time off, don't do it!!!

    Hi LuckyOne,

Thanks for your input. With the saline unders, can you still feel slight rippling? I think silicone is less likely to create the rippling effect. I have very little breast tissue to begin with, so I think rippling will be more likely felt with me. But does the little bit of muscle covering the implant totally cover up any rippling that might be felt, or no?
And is it true that silicione has less rippling? But with salines if they overfill it to decrease rippling, then it might give too firm of a feel compared to silicones? Anyone know? Thanks so much ladies!

P.S. No the doc is very good, he's actually one of the pricier ones (it'll be a total of 9-10K with silicones, so pretty pricey, but his background is amazing and he was recomended by a few dancers on here for making good looking boobs). I woudl neeever go for bargain deals (you hear of 4K done...or going overseas...nooo way).

I have saline unders through trans ax and I have rippling...pretty damn bad when I'm upside down (like on the pole) I hold my boobs because I dn't want people to see the ripples, but when I'm regular upright they look great. If I were you I'd go with the silicone through the nipple, I'll definetly be getting silicone next pair.

I've been on the fence about getting mine done for a while now. But a few of my dancer friends have had it done. I've found that silicone feels better than saline, and ripples MUCH less. Also, I've never seen a bad scar on the outer parameter of the nipple area, some scars in the armpit, but never any bad ones, but I have seen pretty bad ones in the fold underneath, especially among smokers. The best placement that I've seen is on girls that have gone either underneath the boob or through the nipple. I've never met a girl that had it done through the armpits whose placement was top notch, but I've seen pics online. And insofar as changes in nipple sensitivity are concerned, everyone I've talked to says that it varies person to person, but to be prepared for at least a temporary loss of sensation that usually returns gradually. Good luck girl!!!

PS One of my friends made the following suggestion: insist on holding or at least seeing a sample bag very close to the size that the dr plans on putting in your body. She adds that she regrets not doing this.

Thanks all ladies for their input! This has been verrry helpful. Nice to know that there might be some rippling with saline unders if you're upsidedown (imagine if you're leaning down towards your boyfriend, and he goes to hold your boobs...I wouuldn't want to be self-conscious about the ripples...especially if it's a new dude you might not have told about the boob job).

I guess i'll go get the nipple incision silicone unders. The doc kept saying it'll give me the best placement, i just sort of didn't believe him because I thought well going through armpit might be harder, take more time, but he could do an equal job...I guess not. It was good to hear it from other ladies verifying about the optimal placement difference..

I guess i'll reaally avoid any smoke (and give up on my occasional social smoking) right before and after the surgery..a.ctually prbably should givve it up forever! because it'll take theboobs months to fully heal.

And good idea Amber about the boobie size bag...i'll do that during pre-op visit...so then I won't go too small or big.

Big hugs & kisses to the helpful ladies

The muscle will not cover up the likely rippling you'll get with salines on a AA cup. Go with the silicone, they feel soo much softer and more real, plus you wont have ripples.

There's less rippling of the saline when it's under the muscle and the shell is not textured.
