Is that a Wooly Bear!?
I love those little buggers.![]()
Yes it was in my garage so I picked it up and took a picture. I have an assignment for my class and it has to be this poem picture, and I am so lost but I had a friend that said I see beauty in people that they didn't even know had it. Inner beauty makes people gorgeous to me, just like this little one![]()
Oh I am really bad at grammar so is Truely correct?
ugh, let me fix it, I spelled it wrong.
What's a wooly bear? I've never seen that before!
A guy I went to grad school with did a commercial with the same concept. He had all these ornate, colorful, decorated seashells lying on the sand, and then he cut to a plain seashell which at first looked dull... and then the hermit crab in the shell got up and started walking away. I thought it was pretty clever.

WOOLY BEARS!!!!! WHen I was a kid I ran in front of a truck to save one and nearly gave my mom a heart attack. They are big in upstate NY.... always a nice sign of fall. *sigh* i miss 'em.
Oh, Yek- wooly bear CATERPILLAr. adorable furry little thing.
Ok, maybe I'm just dense, but I don't get it? I think wooly bears are cute as shit like they are. Regular caterpillars without fuzz aren't very cute.![]()

^^ yeah, i don't know too many people who think they're ugly.
most caterpillars are kinda gross in the worm stage, then become beautiful post-metamorphosis. the caption is kind of strange in this instance because the wooly bear is ADORable as a caterpillar.... and then becomes a really UGLY moth.
That is the point, something that might seem beautiful on the outside can be hideous from the inside and the other way around.
Ahh...I get it now. Just needed it to be explained...and to put on my thinking.

^^ not to be a stubborn ass, but i still DON't get it. i mean, the caption is great, but wouldn't it work better for a 2-part ugly-caterpillar to beautiful-butterfly deal??
you're asking us to look beyond the surface/inside something to find beauty.... but there is an ugly moth in there. i'm just saying that out of the caterpillar-butterfly class (species? whatev.), you picked one of the few that doesn't conform to the norm... this one gets uglier.
sorry, i was a caterpillar nut as a kid. also, i wouldn't be giving constructive criticism if the thread title hadn't been "what do you think?" I just want you to do well on this assignment- and to me there is a mismatching of picture and caption, even though both are beautiful in their own right.
I guess I just suck. I am not good at anything damn it.
Don't mind me. Thank you for your honesty.

???? WHAT??? uhhh.... i didn't flame you at all, nor is there the need for a comment like that which is SO very untrue- you're extremely talented, I love your photography, all I said was that perhaps your particular choice in caterpillar didn't match the caption!!!! (and again, i only mentioned it because your thread title ASKED what we thought.)
how does that translate to "you suck??" woman, don't be silly.... i'm sending you a PM.
i respect you tremendously, you contribute a ton to this site, your work is consistently gorgeous- i was merely offering an opinion which i thought was given in a diplomatic/constructive manner on a subject i happen to know about because i was obsessed with caterpillars as a dorky kid.
I think she means with this picture that we are normally told to search for, or beware of beauty beneath ugliness; but with this picture and caption, the same can be said in the reverse. Search for and beware of the ugliness that lies beneath the beauty.
Lol, btw Collete, WTF is that metal thing in your siggy?

It's a moto- clutch cover.a clue, rather...
i understand what you're saying, all i meant was that this particular analysis is not easily arrived at- which is at odds with the simplicity of the caption itself.
eh, perhaps that's the intrigue of the whole thing.
EDIT: I really like that (new pic/caption combo). stark and understated, and very interesting.

^^ there are a few of us originally from Upstate who are now respectively in fl. and ca.... i know 2 of us are going back there for the holidays!nah, i left rot'n'fester @ 17. sawwy...

heheh i like "the other white meat."![]()

I'm looking at the wiki for the caterpillar and it looks like it turns into an awesome red and black moth! Is it wrong?
Also, I love the pic and I love both captions. Caterpillars are cute.
I actually like the first one best, and think it makes more sense/is deeper than the second one.
In the first one, we see something that SHOULD, for all intents and purposes, be considered ugly (a hairy insect). But it's friggin' adorable. Why is it adorble? Because we choose to see it that way. Also, it looks like it's looking at its reflection, which is cute and punny.
I think you should go with your original idea.
Feature costumes for sale!
Guys don't mind me, I was having a bad day that day, stress gets to a person if they bottle it up too much lol
Point is I do need your opinions, good or bad, I need to improve and this was just an idea.
I will try other things and see what speaks to me more.

Thank you. I know I should know better but English is not my first language, I should use spell check more often but then I wouldn't learn more cause people point it out to me and I actually pay attention, so thanks.
I love the concept, but I think that the point might be made more effectively by rephrasing what you've written. I've confused myself now, lol!
But all in all, I like it a lot and I think you have a lot of talent!
