So hair dye. Shh. I am examining a hair colour called Ice Cream. You have to mix it with an emulsifier that you buy separately. How does one choose this product?

Is this available only in Canada?
The emulsifier sounds interesting. Better coverage and it won't drip all over the place.
If you need to buy an emulsifier separately and it's not included in the box, go to a beauty supply store and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Ice cream?
I'm thinking really hard and it's not working.
Tell me more.
Because there ain't no tits on the radio
It's like a brand, not the actual colour (I think I misspoke).

Ah, ok.
I was a little concerned you were going to dye your hair "ice cream."
I knew you were smarter than that.

ha, I knew it had to be some fancypants dye to get your colour!
Feature costumes for sale!
Neapolitan Ice Cream hair would be hot.
Maybe.
I hope my advice helped somewhat. Beauty supply stores often seem staffed by cosmetologists in training. Might be more help there.

Thank you Nina - that is probably the best thing to do. I think I was reluctant to go and buy if I wasn't buying the dye in the same place, you know?

I think, but am not certain, that the emulsifier in question is just that peroxide/developer/whatever-it's-called stuff that you use when you're mixing hair bleach (or regular dye, I suppose, but drug store dyes give fancy names to their elixirs so I'm not sure that it's peroxide in the bottle). Okay, this is probably just making you more confused, because my cosmetics vocabulary is like nonexistent. Basically, I am talking about this stuff:

Does that stuff look familiar to you? Where is Audrey Leigh or greeneyedlady? They will be able to explain better.
Drought was over. Where was I? Drinks were on the house.
For mixers, my love, you'd poured--what?--even the rain.
So. I located the emulsifier that "went" with the dye and bought that. Wow. It's... wrong. The colour is light on the swatch and the name on the box sounds light - on my hair it is dark. Very dark. I would have said "burgandy"; the roommate says "bright red" ("burgundy implies a level of purple that is just not there" apparently). I'm going to let my hair recover, and I guess I'll have it repaired. I mean - I guess I've dyed my hair this bright and dark before on purpose, so it could be worse. But still. Not what I expected. And that will teach me to play with products that don't all come in one box.
