Default girls, when choosing a stage name...

at least pick one which you can actually spell correctly!

i understand that some girls in this industry may not be the sharpest tools in the shed, but if you fall into the 'not so intelligent' category, it might be best to pick a name that you can at the very least spell plausibly.

i'm currently working with a porsche and dakota, who every night write themselves up on the dance sheet as porch and dekato.

i suppose it's not really a big deal, but it does make me giggle every time i write a dance up.

I can't stop calling Chanel "Channel" because that's how our weekend dj spells it. I should smuggle one of those home because he can barely spell any of them.

Porch! Ahhhhhhahahahaha! I worked with a girl who spelled her name 'Sinsatin' she wanted to be called 'Sensation' but there was a dj that would pronounce her name the way she spelled it Sin....satin. She would get so pissed, but would never try to spell her name correctly.

moet... hate to be the spoil sport, but why be polite when you can be pedantic???....
moet, when pronounced with the correct (french) stress is ACTUALLY pronounced mowh-ett (shhandon being the correct stress on chandon), the 't' is not silent in french, but the stress is not as hard as most of the randoms calling it variations of MOAT (that was my fav pronunciation)- eg: et toi? et tous? have a similar stress on the 't'.
sorry. bit ranty. but its true

heh, I know girls that go NUTS if they think their name isn't spelled right.. It's one thing to not have it written phontetically ( as the OP was saying), but is it really that important that you have to chew out a DJ because it wasn't spelled the way you like it (always super porn star with double R for Star(r) and what not.)
I like to say it's Brook with an E to the djs, it makes them giggle.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

funny: this is a hot debate i've had before. i went and looked this up a while ago. i learned that it's mo-eh because claude moet's last name is actually Dutch. So his name is Claude Mow-ay.

but i cant find this article and for whatever reason the moet & chandon site wont load. anyways. funny how everyone has something to say on this topic, sorry to threadjack.

    Love it!

I spell my stripper name Jaxson, instead of Jackson.... because it's a bit sexier than the Jackson Pollok spelling, lol.....

I always spell my name correctly.

Unfortunately not everyone else does for some odd reason.

I thought the common spelling was Vanessa. Yes I sometimes sound like I'm saying Venessa however I haven't really found anyone with this legitmate spelling of Vanessa.

So. um. Why is everyone else so hopeless with my name?

I've even had people put two e's or n's and stuff in my name.

    LOL!

The worst is when when DJ's write my name down as Carmen...then proceed to call me Carmen. Do I LOOK latin????

Theres certainly nothing wrong with the name if it suits you...it does not suit white as fuck all american blonde blue eyed ME. And it isnt my name!!!! I've got to start making DJ's call me by my full stage name!

I went through hell with my choice of a stage name....

    Alena...not Alina..not Aleena...not Eilena...not Elaina

    "Alena Downs"

I used to explain, pronounce, and ask the DJ to pronouce my name....my response was....A-lean-a Down-s...get it!!

Rarely did anyone get the pun...Lean Down...the feminine version of Ben Dover.

    I gave up!

In Quebec it was Ilena Down..as the "s" is silent in french.

I had a DJ recently who could not say Talia. I was like, "you can say Natalia, right? Just leave the "na" off." So he decided to call me Natalia, which he spelled Natilya.

I used to go under the name Isla, but girls would call me 'Elsa', or 'Izzla', even if I made sure the DJ pronounced it right. So I just started to write "Eye-lah".

Then I just said screw it and used Kylie. No one messes that up.

(Originally things were all Molly, all the time, but too many people told me it was a name for farm animals. WTF? But I didn't want to evoke a bovine image...not more than necessary, anyhow).

Maybe their first language isn't English? I see a lot of cool ways to spell words, as imagined by francophones. I mean, I can't spell in French.
