    Default fired again from D2

rant: I apologize for the unorganized and slightly insane sounding rant ahead... i'm really upset.

Money sucks for me right now, I don't know if everyone else in the Portland area is experiencing the same slump in money as me , but I have barely topped $200 since October 6th. It's a struggle to make 100 dollars half the time, and when I make almost 200 it's a miracle. I REALLY need money right now, it's difficult. I go in with a positive attitude, I'm better on pole and stage performance than I've ever been, I've got my makeup/hair/outfits down to a science- I feel like I'm at the top of my game regarding the things I can control at the moment.

However, last night, a thursday night, the ducks lost the football game. It was super slow when I arrived at 8:30. I was on stage by 9, made 4 dollars my first set. made 7 my second. my third set, no one was tipping me at all, my dancer friend tipped me because she felt bad for me- she's awesome. my fourth set, no one was tipping again- no one at my rack, BUT there was a group of 3 guys who were sitting at the closest possible table to the stage with their chairs turned out from the table facing the stage and WATCHING me. I do my set completely by the rules the first song, dance, put 100 percent effort, remove my top. The second set, they hadn't tipped- so I spun around the pole flicking them off (only them). This made the guy sitting next to them laugh so he came up and gave me 5 dollars because i guess he thought I was funny. The guys at the table were still sitting there, watching, laughing at me - so I threw an ashtray at the guy closest to me's head and continued my set. The guy at the table next to them who tipped before (stephen spielberg look alike) got out of his seat and put another dollar on my rack, I guess trying to encourage the guys to tip. They still didn't tip. I kept dancing. The song ended, and I went to go collect my tips from the guy who did tip me, and then when I faced the assholes who weren't tipping- the pole-cleaner spray bottle was conveniently within reach of my arm- so I grabbed it- sprayed them and said thank you for tipping.

All the dancers in the back thought it was hilarious and were complaining about that group watching for free and not tipping as well but didn't do anything about it- so they thought it was pretty cool I did something about it- but the manager didn't. I admit it wasn't really effective to get them to tip- but it was very justifying for me and the other girls thought it was well deserved and hilarious as well. So the manager told me off and i told him I was pmsing and wasn't in a good mood to work and wanted to go home blah blah blah (I only had 18 dollars or something like that at this point and it was midnight), he made me keep dancing another set. So I went in the back to wait until my set came up , and when I wasn't up for 30 minutes I went to go check with the DJ and the DJ said that the manager told him to take me off rotation-- so I was waiting for nothing. So the DJ put me up as soon as I told him I was waiting to do my last set- I went up, did my set.. got like 2 bucks and then got the manager to ask him to go home. He said I had to do ANOTHER one. At this point, I knew that there was no point in even being there- I had already paid 20 dollars for the taxi there ( it was raining and freezing and windy and I didn't feel like walking to the bus stop, waiting for 15 minutes to connect to theh next bus, and then walking down beaverton hillsdale hwy), so the manager took 20 dollars house fee from me. He told me I could do one more set an the go home- i told him that the entire time I was waiting to go on stage I was waiting for nothing because he told the dj to take me off rotation ( it was 1 AM by now) so I told him I was going home, I quit, and called a cab.

The manager is a fucking asshole. I should be able to decide when I go home, especially if I'm not making any money. It's pointless to work when I'm not even breaking EVEN!! I had to use my debit card for the taxi home, I spent 20 dollars on the taxi there, 20 dollar house fee, and 23 dollar taxi home, so I PAID SIXTY THREE DOLLARS TO GET NAKED AND TREATED LIKE SHIT FOR FREE.

FUCK THIS SHIT. I FUCKING HATE THE DOLPHIN GREG IS A FUCKING ASSHOLE .

EVERYONE SHOULD GO On STRIKE AND SOTP FILLING DEANS POCKETS. HE IS A SELFISH ASSHOLE.

    UGHGHGAHDKLSgjklaejfklajl

I'm so sick of this shit. It's not fair. I PAID to get fucked over. fuck that.

No! You seriously flipped these guys off, threw an ashtray at them and sprayed them with pole cleaner? Just because they were not tipping you? They were not at your stage. They were oogling you...but did you think that they might want dances later? Some of my best customers never tip on stage. Did you go for more than one song without solidifying judgment that they were dicks? And then...

You assaulted them. You threw things at them.

That's as far as I read. I don't care what happened next. You should have been fired just for that.

Gypsy, I am sorry it's been rough for you. I understand that a lack of money can cause a person to stress out, and stress can make a sound-minded person think that it's a good idea to do stupid things.

So... now that you've ranted and, I hope, had some time to think about what happened tonight, do you still think your actions were justified? See... I don't think there is anything wrong with telling cheap customers that you are annoyed with them. It might lose you money, but whatever, sometimes it's more personally satisfying to give someone a piece of your mind. Yet it's one thing to approach a customer and quietly hiss at them for not tipping (we all do this once in a while) and another to throw things at them/ spray them with chemicals/ what-have-you. The latter goes waaaay beyond the threshold of giving someone a piece of your mind. As zxcire said, it's essentially assault, and that's not cool. Imagine if you were in a restaurant, and you decided not to tip your server for whatever reason, and he/she threw stuff at you?! It would be decidedly not cool.

...And I think you know it's not cool. You're a soulful, peace-loving earth mamita (at least that's how I always read you). My unsolicited advice? If you are certain you do not want to return to the club, apologizing to the manager is useless. Likewise, it's probably impractical, if not completely impossible to track down the customers and apologize to them (though, for the record, you do owe them an apology, or the karmic equivalent thereof). So maybe you could work on doing a few good deeds over the next couple of weeks to even out the cosmic score. Perhaps in the process, you will make a few people happy and the experience will brighten your overall mood and improve your view of humanity.

Oh, and when you start at another club, and when you feel yourself getting angry or frustrated, try to put yourself in the customers' shoes. They're cheapskates, and they're rude, maybe they're downright jerks, but they do not deserve abuse any more than you do.
Drought was over. Where was I? Drinks were on the house.

Yep, agree. Everyone has bad nights Gypsy, but they could have technically called the cops on you for assault.

I think you might want to take some away from dancing. When you're that frustrated you throw an ashtray, spray the customers with cleaning fluids, I think it's time for a break or another job. That can get you into a lot of trouble and on your title you say it's the second time you've been fired from there. I truly understand why you're frustrated, nothing pisses me off more than assholes that sit there, stare at you and can't even tip you a measly dollar! WTF, ya know? Or the ones that clutch their dollar and looking all around the room trying to decide who they'll part with their one dollar with! Ughh!! But let me tell you, those guys are NOT worth losing your job over and are not worth getting into big legal trouble over. Cause look who ultimately gets the last laugh, they do! You're the one who got fired, you're the one who looks bad in front of everyone and you'd be the one who could've gotten into legal trouble with.

I think it would be best for you to take a step back, think about what you really want and take a nice break from dancing. If dancing is causing you to lose like that and get fired a second time, you might want to look into another job or learn different coping skills. I know it feels great to (AT THE TIME) to react that way but it's not working for you. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to kick, punch, pour a drink on, etc. on a customer but those cheap losers are not worth it. Getting a reaction out of you is exactly what they want, and they got it. The best revenge is to find a customer who is spending, make a ton of money off of that one & make them look cheap all while keeping your cool & staying in control.

lol Well I don't feel as bad for the beer knock over incident, but he was sitting at the tip rail. The thing you have to realize is that some guys just don't stage tip, but will buy dances. And throwing an ashtray? That could hurt somebody and you have to be careful there, thats when you get sued or in trouble with the law. The spray, not as bad, not actuallyinjuring somebody, but still not the smartest thing to do. But pissed doesn't always=the best decision making.
Like I was told, if you're going to do it, make it look like an accident. Not that it makes it something you *should* do but, shit happens.

I think I remember that you can't work the floor because you're not 21 right? I know that probebly makes it more irritating, but they still might have bought a dance. If not then, when they realize you aren't anywhere to be seen except on stage, they might have approached.

Totally understand the irritation but hell if I thought I could have gotten money out of the guy I had my "altercation" ( and of course he prob. got a free beer and I got fired, so it just made his night) with, I would have held my temper and tried to milk him, and then possibly have been bitcy.

But it sounded like you quit, and that was some sort of punishment to make you sit around and not be able to go on stage? Hell money sucks here too, but I wish I had just shut my mouth and gone home when I could have just gone home, then have gotten my ass fired. Some moneys better than no money.

Can you afford to take a little time off? Not forever but even ust a week? I just did. I'm trying a different club tomorrow and am going to start picking up a shift or 2 a week at the restraunt I worked at before. It was nice having the week off and actually makes me want to work because I start to miss it and also realize that not making as much as I was is better than nothing.

Sorry that it's shitty and that happened but you def. need to manage your stress (and possibly temper, but that might be because of stress.) better. Thats what I need to do after being in a very similar situation and learning the hard way.

Wow. I hope that you calm down, and don't continue dancing if you can't find a way to deal with the bad parts.

Also, I understand your anger, but if you're going to refer to the club and management by name I am going to have to say I haven't had negative experiences there. There are several Dolphin II dancers here who have had a different experience here and I don't want negative information to be the only kind anyone reads about it.

Sorry to hear that happened to you Gypsy, with the "one more set punishment"... moneys been pretty bad for me too, i'd been debating going back to those clubs, but THAT is the exact reason why I've been avoiding it.

Great clubs, better money than many other PDX clubs, but management seems to be a ticking time bomb.

Really though, may be a break would help? It is rpetty extreme, how you handled the asses.... Sounds like you might just be worn too thin over hte bad money situation. Happens to us all.

    Hope your feeling better!

That sucks, hard. I saw customers acting in a similar, puzzling, way tonight.

I was at the Acropolis tonight (OK, last night, Friday) between 8p - 10p, and it was the strangest thing I've ever seen - there were lots of customers, younger ones (in their 20s, though I'm a bad judge of age), standing around by the lottery machines, watching the main stage! WTF? They represented maybe 10-20% of the customers in there. And there were empty chairs at the main stage. On a FRIDAY NIGHT. It was just weird.

And it wasn't just for one dancer. Sometimes, sure, with all the different "types" of girls, some girls aren't going to ring someone's bell. But this was for several different dancers.

Myself, being the perfect customer, sat at the rail and was tipping double my usual - $2 per song. Oh, and I had the filet mignon. Sofa king good.

I saw your post last night asking guys to come out to the D2. If I'd had a car I would've. Sorry, I know that doesn't help now, but, damn, I think seeing customers getting stuff tossed at them by a dancer might've been funny...

you know I adore you girl, but if you hadthrown shit at me, I'd have had you arrested. Also spraying harmful chemicals on someone? It makes me sad for what this job has obviously done to you. Maybe you'd be better off going back to a normal job, at least for a while.

In her defense it might have been a plastic ashtray...

I don't know what else to say except that it might be time for a break.

a plastic ashtray could seriously hurt someone. had it hit one of them, they could have had a cuncussion, or maybe needed stitches.

that's aggrevated assult. and for a city that's really pretty strict and unfriendly about 18-20 dancing, it would look really bad. county commisioners would have a ball with that, and it could loose a lot of girls their jobs.

I have to agree..it was not the best thing to do to throw an ashtray at them but sparying them, that is kinda funny. We all stress out from time to time and I can speak from experience. I almost got fired for thowing a glass at someone who was not tipping and felt the urge to laugh and make fun of EVERY girl on the stage. At the time all I could feel was the frustration of making no money, stress, and there was this a$$hole making fun and laughing at the girls on stage. I took it to far...I really could have been in some major trouble all over some stupid jerk who would not tip and had to laught at us. It was not worth it.

I have seen girls who have taken to much and I have seen them pick up barstools to use as a weapon, I have thrown a glass at someones head (not good), I have seen drinks "fall over" on customers and even chased a guy out of the club while taking high heel off to throw at a customer. (this is all I can think of right now)

We all have those days but I would suggest to think again before causing harm to someone...people go to jail for that. I'm to pretty to sit in jail

    yeah, agree here too.

im blown away that you think we will like, pat you on the back, and say yeah, they're assholes...

not every night is a good night. dancing is hard, and it's not for everyone. i suggest you move on to another career, or get some anger management.

You have some kind of balls to be doing that... but it definately wasn't wise to just act in the now like that... you should've considered what your actions would do. I'm sorry you've been stressed, I can understand that... but I can't say I blame your manager. It's slow enough as is, obviously, he can't have dancers assaulting the customers so that there are NONE at all.

    oh my.. just oh my.

i'm sure that now that you've had time to step back, you're a little embarrased, no? if you need money so desperately, and are on top of your game, as you say, then you should know that you need to take this as a real job and be professional. which your actions were not. a girl who is really on her game knows that.

with that said, please learn from your actions. i know that ive done some stupid shit (never anything like this, but manager related) and once i learned to treat this as a real job, i now consider myself to be on my game, as you said, and i've seen an increase in my money and a decrease in problems/drama at work that involves me.

okay..... 36ish hours later I feel stupid about it. I realized that one of the main reasons I did it because I was intending on quitting, so the fear of getting fired over it in the moment was nonexistent. When I was up on that stage, all I could think about was how frustrated I was that I was PAYING house fee and taxi to dance for free, how no one was tipping, and how those assholes were watching me for free. Oh yeah and being frustrated that even IF they were spending customers, I would never find out because I'm not allowed to walk the floor- so unless they're going to come up to my stage, I had no chance of getting anything out of anybody. It sucks, and I'm done with it. I'm done with school in 3 weeks anyways, so I'm just going to focus on that, MAYBE do some shifts at D1 (because I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY need the money right now)--- but only after I've gotten a good solid week off.

Whoever said that I was coming in here expecting a pat on the back- you're dead wrong- I didn't write this post for people to commend me for what I did, I know it was PARTIALLY in the wrong- I just wanted opinions and feedback.

Whoever said I need to get a different job- you're wrong- what I need to do is change the law. If I could hustle the floor like every other dancer in the club and have an equal chance of making money- I wouldn't get as frustrated, I wouldn't let stress build up, I'd make more money and I wouldn't lash out at customers.

IMO, the karmic circle already completed itself.......the customers were being rude and stingy- they got a little more than they asked for by me lashing out (it was PARTIALLY wrong), and then I got payback when I got fired, went home in the negative, and had to pay to get naked.

Sorry you had such a bad night.

Sure throwing things is wrong, but those guys were jerks! So Kudos! Don't be so hard on yourself.

Lets face it: dancing naked is not exactly within the "Normal" range of social behavior... it can be easy to loose sight of what is appropreate or not. The jump from dancing naked to throwing things / hitting someone can happen in 3 seconds flat. I hit a customer once, and you sure as shit won't find me saying sorry!!

BTW: maybe this kind of thing is the reason we have those cheap alumium disposable ashtrays? Mike Tyson could lob one of those babies at you and nobody'd get hurt. Hmmmm.

You know, sweetheart, I have heard a LOT of girls complaining about D2 lately, so I can understand that you are frustrated.
I went through a period of throwing ice at people, and boy am I ever embarrassed about that now. The trick is, you have to try being nice first. I KNOW that yes, these non-tipping customers know better, they know they should be tipping. You just have to take a second to help them realize how awesome you are and make them feel guilty.
I use a "three strikes you're out rule." I have done this SO many times, with pretty good results.
Attempt #1: Smile/wave/wink. Say hi. Very simple. 50/50 chance of working.

Attempt #2: "Hey guys. I just wanted to stop by and let you know that the other dancers and I would really appreciate your tips. Thanks in advance." Smile. Walk away.
8 out of 10 times this works.

Attempt #3: "Guys, can I ask you something? I got all dolled up tonight, and I've been putting on a fun show. You've been watching, but you haven't tipped. Mind if I ask why?"
This usually results in money being handed to you directly. However, you will get a douchebag response once in a blue moon. Regardless of what that douchebag response is, I always say "Ok, well thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't sure if you were ignorant or just a jerk. I'll make sure I pass this on to the other dancers." Smile, walk away.
Once they realize they aren't going to get any attention, they usually leave.

Is that where that's from? My friend Tracy says it all the time. I'm getting her a t-shirt with that on it for her birthday.

    What the fuck?

You guys, customers should tip, but they technically don't have to. Sorry, I didn't make the fucking rules, and I know cheap assholes suck...

the flipping the guys off, whatever but throwing something and spraying glass cleaner? Not to be paranoid, but you could have hurt their eyes really bad with that shit ....

I can not believe you would do that shit... it's totally unprofessional and psycho....I mean, imagine if you didn't tip your waitress and she started chucking shit at you?

If some girl was throwing shit at me from stage I would deck her in the face.... you're lucky those guys didn't do anything back...
