    Default wrinkles

I'm only 24 and have forhead wrinkles....probably from tanning when I was younger and facial expressions....I use the ROC retinol cream overnight (i've been using it for about a year) and don't really see an a decrease (although I haven't seen an increase either). What should I do? I wear sunscreen every day.

Should I go to the derm and ask for presciption strnegth retinol cream? Does anyone know how much it costs? I have great insurance for the visit but I know it won't cover the cream since it would be cosmetic.

Usually these lines are from facial expressions. Best thing? Try not to make any facial expressions. Soften them up with water (water plumps out the skin) followed by a super moisturizer to hold in water longer!

retin-a is quite a commitment. I used to fax my script to because it was much cheaper than buying it stateside.

no, I mean it needs to be used on a regular basis at least every 3 nights for at least 12 months in order to see any real appreciable improvements. It's not to be used as a sporadic spot treatment. In addition, you need to make sure to avoid direct sunlight and wear sunscreen. Might want to avoid extreme temperatures and weather conditions too at least until the skin acclimates to the tretinoin. But it definitely does work.

I'm religious about applying my OTC retinol now and always apply sun screen so I don't think it seems like too big of change. I think I am going to schedule an appt. with a derm...thanks for the advice.

I would just get Botox. It will prevent the wrinkles from getting deeper too. In fact, they might start to disappear.

Every morning I put a washcloth with hot water under my eyes (dark circles) & massage my forehead...& Massage cream into the skin. Everyone has different skin needs...Clinique makeup counters can give you a consultation for your skin, but avoid their toner, it has acetone in it.

(Diet matters too- get collagen containing food in your diet, silica, proper vitamins, enough water. This will make a big difference.)

I know the diet things work. I have read Dr. Periconne's books (although I think he is wayyy to extreme...the foods that he claims are good for your skin truely are).

I'm going to try your wash cloth idea, although I was looking for a more permanent fix...

I hate Clinque skincare and make-up, unfortunately.

Something about elasticty/muscle etc...can make you look older in the future. I don't really feel like googling it. I have never had a cosmetic surgery/injections etc. b/c there are so many risks and you can always risk looking worse.

Even with breast implants...I see girls who went to supposedly good Dr.s and their boobs are really far a part then there is the whole increased risk of not seeing breast cancer...

that's interesting I was under the impression that regular botox could delay the aging process since the muscles are regularly relaxed and furrows are prevented from forming. I have never heard anything about it decreasing elasticity but I will poke around to see what I can find.

there are some people who feel the same could be true about using retin-a for prolonged periods. Something about we have a finite supply of undifferentiated stem cells and what happens in the long run when we speed up the cell renewal/sloughing process for 20+ years.

I don't know for sure, but in a book i have it says Botox works as a temp. means (we all know that) but, while you have it injected to make those lines go away, you have actually 'frozen' that area, and the other surrounding muscles in the face need to work harder, this in turn can lead to more aging, inother areas of the face..many women get Botox on most of the face now due to wrinkles, muscles working harder...they look like plastic, they can't smile right, or frown...seems un-natural. A few wrinkles i invite, but that whole Botox stuff...hmm i don't know if it would be for me.

    Botox.

I get Botox. When done right, no one can tell. My cosmetic dermatologist injects just enough to eliminate the movement that causes the wrinkles, but I still have *some* movement between my brows and in my forehead.

I must forewarn you not to overdo Botox. I had a bad experience once and my forehead was frozen.

I don't feel as if my muscles are working harder. Over time, the muscles injected begin to atrophy and more and more time passes before you need another treatment. One woman I know only need Botox every 9 months. I have to go every 3, but I've only been doing it for a year.

Moisturizer is very important as well.

botox does make older people look worse. but that means old. like 70's and 80's. i don't think any good doctor would even give botox to a 20-something, but i may be wrong.

do you really have wrinkles, or do you just have fine lines? i've had horizontal fine lines on my forehead since i was a kid. it's cos i scrunch up my eyebrows a certain way. i've gotten in the habit of flexing the muscles on the sides of my eyebrows cos i like how i look when i do it...and my lines ended up fading a bit, which is nice.

Same here and the result is amazing (no frozen face)

They really are fine lines....I am very expressive. I might just leave them alone. Hahaha.

I have a friend with forehead wrinkles and I gave her Clinique's Repairwear Day Cream and within 30 minutes the creases were gone. I didn't give it to her for that reason, she needed some moisturizer and I had it from one of their gift bags. Worth a try...

I get a little bit of botox. My doctor said it can't help with fine lines, though... Hello expensive laser surgery! Start saving those dollars.
