White Zombie

Oh, I forgot to mention Michelle Branch, Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, and Alicia Keys. I love ubberly talented Musician Goddesses who can sing while also playing their instruments, which is really hard to do. They inspire me to become a better guitar player/singer. Even though my right thumb hurts like a bitch right now and I can't play at the moment.![]()

driving around to aphex twin (esp the softer tracks) is VERY calming to me.
Lunarobverse, I love "Hotel Yorba"! It's my ultimate happy song, makes me smile just thinking about it. I also love:
"Rag and Bone" - White Stripes
"This Will All Make Perfect" or "Clarity" - John Mayer
"Brass Monkey" - Beastie Boys
"Ice Ice Baby" - Vanilla Ice (how can you not laugh while listening to this song?)
"New Position" - Prince
"The Sprout and the Bean" - Joanna Newsome
"Some people say what I do isn't very liberating. I say it's pretty liberating to get $20,000 for 10 minutes of work." - Dita Von Teese

Pulp. And The Smiths.

I'm sort of like Mily, I like ladies with ridiculous amounts of talent dripping off of them. Tori Amos, Sarah Maclachlan, etc.
Other than that it's a hard question to answer because I really like sort of depressing music, which makes me happy because I like it but depressed because it's depressing? LOL

Three cheers for Tori Amos!!! Her song Leather always makes me smile!
"Look I'm standing naked before you
Don't you want more then my sex
I can scream as loud as your last one
But I can't claim innocence"
This one makes me feel old because it came out back in 2000 when I graduated high school. It still makes me happy every time I hear though...

Another one...
La India - "Love & Happiness"
God, I love that song!! <3

How the HELL could I have forgotten Bob Marley??? WTF is wrong with me, LOL!![]()

lol. I will have to second this embarrassing confession. I still get a kick out of "Parents Just Don't Understand"...and "Summertime"
In fact, lots of that late-80's/early-90's bubblegum hiphop cheers me up:
Remember Young MC? ("Bust A Move", "I Come Off", "Principal's Office"?)
LL Cool J (I'm that Type of Guy...)
Also:
Da Butt-E.U.
The Girl Tried to Kill Me-Ice T
Paid In Full (Mini-Madness) - Erik B. and Rakim
The Choice Is Yours - Black Sheep
And Some much more Random things:
The Way I Are (my favorite song of the moment)
Family Affair - Mary J. Blige
Sexy Body Girls (the club mix version) - Shaggy
Jumpin Jumpin - Destiny's Child
This Love - Maroon 5
Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground
Faded - Soul Decision
Hello - The Beloved
SOS - Rihanna
Let's Ride - The Game
Bye Bye Bye - (i can't say it! it's too shameful! but I can't help myself!)
Everybody - (even worse than the above!!!!)
Slow Motion - Color Me Badd
also very embarrassing: I can't help but get in a good mood when I hear the Sascha Baron Cohen version of "I Like to move it move it" from Madagascar(did you guys know that Borat was the lemur king?)
Use Me - Bill Withers (omg i love this song so much. and the weird thing is that I can sing it in his register.)
World of Trouble - Lou Rawls
Forty Acres and a Mule - Oscar Brown Jr
ARTISTS/ALBUMS/GENRES ETC:
Dean Martin!!! ("Money burns a hole in my pocket"; "Sway"; "Mambo Italiano"; "Hey Brother, Pour the Wine"... Nothing beats singing along to Dino in the kitchen, cooking something delicious and sipping a good Italian red...)
Gil Scott-Heron! (The Revolution Will Not Be Televised; Whitey On the Moon; Winter in America--not a happy song but so good it makes me happy anyway)
Parliament/P-funk (A Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop...)
Cherry Poppin Daddies - Zoot Suit Riot
Bongwater. (does anyone know this band?)
(I'm not going to mention any Weird Al Yankovich songs out loud, okay? Especially not Amish Paradise...or the one about E-bay)
the music from Alvin Ailey's Revelations - amazing, pure gospel/spirituals. Good baptist gospel usually gets me in a good mood: Mississippi Mass Choir, etc...
I'm obsessed with this bluegrass version of The House of The Rising Sun, done by the Country Gentlemen. Bluegrass usually cheers me up if the musicianship is really incredible.
So do the blues, come to think of it. counterintuitive, but true.

^^^^Yayyy!!! The Power Of Pussy!!!
So funny...When I saw you'd posted in this thread, I just knew it was to tell me that you knew about Bongwater! Weird!
Anne Magnuson, right? She was a rockin' chick--whatever happened to her? Did she work in the sex industry? Because she kind of had that mentality....
My favorites from Power of Pussy:
*Obscene and Pornographic Art (so so funny.)
*What If?
*Kisses Sweeter than Wine
*Women Tied up In Knots.

Guy #1: I'd totally hit that.
Guy #2: Dude, I'd hit that so hard whoever could pull me out would become the King of England.
Air-Sexy Boy
Tones on Tail-Go! and Performance. . .also "No New Tale to Tell" by Love and Rockets
Public Image Ltd-Rise . . . .the whole part about anger being an energy just does it for me
Iggy and the Stooges-No Love Lost
Brian Eno-Baby's on Fire
The Dead Kennedys of course make me very happy. As do Gravy Train and Meat Beat Manifesto. San Francisco rock n roll
The Thrill Kill Kult . And I definitely agree with Penny about the Aphex Twin. What's your favorite record?
Rare Earth-Celebrate
lots of Stevie Wonder
and Lightning Bolt because they are better than coffee.
The Texas Pin-up Stripteuse!

I just love that you also get your jam on to Timbaland.
Um, Magnuson was in a sitcom, "Anything But Love," and was a performance artist in addition to acting in film (Panic Room, recently) and TV. She and Kramer had some huge falling out that they can't talk about due to a legal settlement, so who knows what happened with Bongwater.
The Super Furry Animals and the Flaming Lips always make me happy, by the way.
edit: Mr. W just cruised youtube and found some Bongwater videos!
