Default Beat bloating during the party, er holiday, season

I've been drinking lately just to see how my body reacts to alcohol. The party season has finally arrived which means I will be recklessly drinking and God knows what else. However, I've worked hard on my body and I really don't want it all going to waste.

I've noticed that after a night of just drinking I put on a good 6 lbs of water weight and ll my muscle gets coated in bloat. This, of course, makes me feel like a fat ass and my clothes don't look all that great on me.

How can I party and avoid bloating/water weight gain?

I have a feeling that taking ionic minerals berfore and after (or throughout the holiday season) could help in preventing this.

I'll google it now, but can you tell me some more about what that is?

Minerals that absorb more easily into the body. When you drink, you lose stored minerals and salts (dehydration).

Concentrace is a popular brand. Ionic magnesium works best for me. Supposedly a lot of people are deficient in the mineral. But yet, google it. I don't want to give you false info. I'd have to google it anyways to give you specifics!

do you think any place would have a sample of it? I could give it a test drive. or, as awkward as this is, if you have some could you try drinking it before a night of drinking and let m know if it works?

A bottle is like $8. 15 servings per bottle. Just add it to your water or juice. 3 or 4 servings thruoghout the day.

Go to your local vitamin/health food store and check it out. It's dnot going to hurt your or your bank.

But wait to see what other SWers suggest.

I always try to stick to drinking vodka and avoiding fizzy mixed drinks and beer because that always makes me bloated.

Doing vodka shots is the best way to avoid excess kilos and water weight because vodka (and other white spirits) are low in calories. Also, if I'm mixing my drinks, I choose to mix vodka with juice, which does contain a lot of sugar but is better than soft drinks, or diet lemonade, or half juice and half soda water.

Also I always drink a bottle of water before I go to bed after drinking, which i think helps.

So I could do patron silver? I LOVEEEE tequila, that's why I ask. Vodka unsettles my stomach a bit. Also, this past weekend I drank screwdrivers (just vodka and oj) and I still gained the bloat weight.

You don't think I'm doomed to just having to a live a life of bloating everytime I drink, do you? Oh nooooo, that would be crushing!

I feel the least gross when I'm drinking diet coke w/ vodka, not tasty, I know. I get bloated really easily from stuff like smirnoffs. I usually feel better when drinking at a house party because I'll drink some water every once in a while.

listen. this isnt what you want to hear, but i'll tell you from experience.

the only way to get rid of that bloat is not to drink.

vodka is still HORRIBLE for you. im not sure who posted it, but they posted that after only a week of stopping drinking, they could see the muscle tone that had been covered up for so long. vodka was my drink of choice. i stopped drinking and i lost a LOT of bloat and look so much better.

another problem is when you work out, youre burning off those calories and nothing else. look it up. a shot of vodka has approx 64 calories. thats the alcohol alone. add to that juice, or even diet coke, and then add those calories and sugar content. multiply but how many drinks you have in a night. there you go, thats your workout.

^^^I had NO idea vodka had that kind of affect! I've been wondering why my once flat tummy has been poking out the past several months. I would have never connected it with the absolut peach vodka that I have fallen in love with lol. But that makes sense, it was about the time I started having a glass every night that my belly blew up. I'm gonna stop for a week or two and see if that makes a difference.

On another note, a natural fix for *temporary* water loss is parsley capsules. It's a diuretic, and when I want to slip down for a day I'll take about 3-4 capsules. You have to drink a lot of water with it though, because it will make you dehydrated.

aw, britttttttt, you're right! that totally isn't what I wanted to hear.

it's pretty much what I figured, but our coach always told us we can drink vodka if we really had to drink something. I guess I will just have to deal with being bloated quite a bit, 'cos I get pretty crazy reckless when school's not in.

Thanks A ! I normally take a complex liquid mineral and I haven't had it since I've been here. That's probably why I was having such a big prob with bloating esp. after a few drinks. I used to drink a glass of water per drink as a chaser and that didn't help at all this time.

Anyway, I went to the local health food store and they have the minerals you mentioned. I'm going to try it.

I can totally relate ! I'd try the minerals Ameerah mentioned..I was super bloated from who knows what about 2 weeks ago and I had at least 10 lbs of water weight! I had to go buy a pair of jeans 2 sizes bigger than my usual size cuz I couldn't fit into any of my other ones..Anyway, I stumbled across an ad for Suddenly Slender body wrap and the results were AMAZING..It was from the minerals. I'm going to head out and buy some now. I'll let you know if it worked for me, as I plan on having a drink or 2 tonight.

There is credible research on alcohol calories vs. "food" calories. I thought it was bs at first but I looked into it more. I'll have to link to the article(s) when I find them.
It came down to the way that alcohol calories are processed. Long story short...alcohol calories do not contribute to weight gain.
HOWEVER it does not discredit that it can cause bloating, and does not account take into exception what you are drinking your alcohol with (I'm thinking it was just "clear" liquors not beer and such) i.e. juice/soda.
I'll go searching for the articles...be back tomorrow.

i know the article you're talking about, actually. drinking itself doesn't cause weight gain, but it DEFFO dehydrates and causes all this FUCKING water weight (pardon my language, but after all the food I ate today I'm scared to step on the scale tomorrow.)

man, ok, I'm gonna have to take the MC seriously now and just flush all this crap in my intestines out, 'cos I just bought this AMAZING dress that now I'm nervous I won't fit into thanks to everything I ate these past couple of days, UGHHHHH.
