Default Sesame Street for adults only ..WTF?

I just saw this on the news.Aren't we going a little far with this? I guess cookie monster was smoking a pipe in an episode and Ernie was in the bathtub. OH NO !!!!!!!!!!! So they are now labeled adults only. Why would an adult purchase A Sesame STreet DVD for themselves?

Ridiculous. I remember a while back when someone said Teletubbies wer sexual in some way. Who makes these decisions? Too much free time.

    I loved Sesame Street . I guess that's why I ended up a stripper

Bert and Ernie are totally gay. I don't know if Jerry Falwell ever called them on it or not.

Little kids shouldn't be watching TV anyway.

Oscar the Grouch is soooo the one I'd picture to own a sketchy van into which he lures Elmo with candy. We've got our eyes on you, you green pervert!

Nope. I don't have a problem with Bert and Ernie being gay, mind, but I do believe that young children should not be watching TV. It's bad for their brain development and socialization.

My thought on the matter is that it's ok if it's 30 or less minutes a day under 7 yrs old, and a bit more as they get older.

i hate how many pareents park their kids in front of the electronic babysitter for hours. then they don't understand why the child is overweight, had attention issues, hates to read, and is a lazy couch potato.

I see what you'r saying about kids watching TV. I just never thought of Sesame Street as bad for kids. It never even occured to me that Burt and Ernie are Gay but know that I think about it.......

LOL, it never occurred to me when I was a kid either. I think we need to stop oversexualizing things and just let kids be kids! I don't have any problem whatsoever with Bert and Ernie. But I don't see any reason at all why a young child needs to watch television when s/he could be playing, drawing, reading, or just daydreaming instead. I know a few young children who don't have any access to TV and they're the most intelligent, creative, polite children I've ever met. The drawback is that you actually have to raise your own kids instead of letting the TV do it for you.

There's a great book on this subject called The Plug-In Drug. I highly recommend it.

Yep, they toned down Cookie Monster too because he supposedly has an eating disorder. Dammit, kids love him because he's pure id! It's all PC bullshit nowadays.

It used to be great, now it's all sappy Elmo crap. I remember when it used to be a great show that all ages could enjoy. They used to have great lampoons like Miami Mice, Monsterpiece Theatre, and Twin Beaks. My parents loved the show as much as I did due to those little homages. I also saw the episode of Mr Hooper's death a few months ago, which made me cry because it was so good. It had such a way with kids.

I used to love the whole Kermit /Miss Piggy dynamic. I still thinkthe muppets are hilarious. I never saw one questionable thing on the muppets. I will let my kids enjoy my childhood favorite if I ever have them. I even have all my Sesame Street toys from when I was little. My mom organized and stored all my old stuff in case my kids ever wanted it.

I remember when I was 4, my friend Laura and I ate a bowl of popcorn Cookie Monster style. It was wonderful, indulgent fun.

This thread reminds me of that whole "hidden messages in the Disney movie" thing, and the "munchkin hanging himself in the background in the Wizzard of Oz". Ya'll remember all of that?

After you mute the volume, it's only obvious that Ernie's singing:

    "Rubbered dickie, you're the one..."
