I'm frequently driving so I just bring everything. Including my sewing machine. Are you going to be flying? If so, and assuming you'll have two bags and a carryon, here's my list:

    Printout of club info
Printout of any hotel and car rental confirmation info

Laptop, ipod, phone charger, other electronic necessities

Regular clothes suitable for climate -- you know, warm coats for the north and all that, swimsuit for the beach.

As far as clothes, depends on the clubs -- to be prepared for everything, bring your fun outfits and a couple of gowns should you wind up somewhere fancy.
    Plenty of thongs and garters
    *Sewing kit for repairs*
    Two pairs of shoes, minimum

    Cosmetics/toiletries
    Medications

Passport/ID/SS card -- probably the last isn't necessary, or a copy will do, but you never know.

I like to make my own food, so I have one of those Lexan plate/bowl/cup/utensil kits from REI, and a small travel mug french press so I never have to drink shitty coffee as long as I can get hot water.

    Books

and I'm a crafting dork so I always have a knitting project to work on.

And remember to have in your carryon at least the clothes and toiletries to get you through a night should, god forbid, your luggage be delayed.

I always pack two bags - and in my work bag I have my outfits and another bag ( in my work bag ) that holds my shoes. Stripper shoes, no matter how clean you are always smell funky. I also put my bottles of shampoo and other liquids, like lotion in plastic freezer bags. prevents spillage. In case something leaks and it keeps you organized.

    Don't forget your phone charger.

Susan seems to have covered it really well.

I always bring my hair dryer, not every hotel has one and the ones that do normally aren't very powerful.

I've discovered that I don't need a lot of regular clothes, I used to pack a lot of different outfits, now I just bring the bare necessities, jeans, t-shirts, some nice tops for going into the club.

If you don't know what kind of club you're going to be working at bring a gown, a few skirt sets, a dress. Two pairs of shoes.

A scented candle is a good idea, makes a hotel feel like home.

When I traveled for work I often packed one of those microfiber hair towels to help my long hair dry faster. Lighter and more compact, especially since I'd need to use the flat-iron or giant curling iron.

But everyone's hair needs are different, of course.

Using the microfiber towel, airdrying and finishing with an iron also causes less damage to hair than heat-styling twice too.

I'd recommend one of those "Passport" coupon books that have a good variety of chain service places. They aren't just restaurants. It can save you some money on dining, dryclean, auto service, etc...

Also, depending on where you are, bring workclothes for different types of clubs. Gown, bikini, etc....

If you are going to be somewhere for awhile you should bring your birth certificate and SS Card, that way if you lose your ID. you can just get a new one even though it will be from the state that you are in at that time. There is nothing worse than getting halfway across the country and not being able to work because you don't have an ID.

Nobody mentioned bail money yet ! Out of town / out of state dancers are potential easy targets, since the local cops and DA know that the odds of them fighting a bogus charge are pretty small (since they'd have to travel back to the same city at their own expense however many weeks/ months in the future for court appearances in order to plead innocent and go to trial).

Take enough money to get yourself home if need be.

a combo lock for a locker at work if need be

a small mirror to do your makeup in (small enough to fit in your bag, but big enough to see your face), who knows how the dressing room situation will be?, better to have your own so you can sit in a corner if you have to and get pretty.

    travel size toothbrush

    area specific:
pasties/latex, in case you work at a pastie bar
t-bars, thongs, specifically sized for the city you are in and their typical regulations

all that I would mention is that having a credit card but no cash isn't going to help you at a bail hearing ... because they're not going to release you from custody until the bail is paid and most courts (deliberately) don't take credit cards.

a year and a half ago, i was arrested in atlanta on a very minor charge, but i found myself in jail for the night. i hadn't been there working. i was just travelling through on my way home.

i had cash on me, enough to pay my bail. they wouldn't let me. because i was from out of state, i had to go through an agency. no one was able to come to see me, so i couldn't use my cash. i could've used a credit card for a huge charge, but they wouldn't have been able to come bail me out till the next day. the charge was so minor, i was out after the hearing for time served...but of course, i did plead guilty so i could go home.

point being...if you're a travelling dancer, having cash might not do you any good. if you don't mind the fee, a credit card might be better.

Having the number of a bail bondsman should be sufficient. I have traveled to many places and have yet to be arrested anywhere, though, so I don't think this is a huge concern. Melonie is right that certain areas are bigger targets so being aware of current politics with the clubs where you're going is smart -- like, know when Houston/Tampa/Dallas/Atlanta are experiencing stings.

edit -- AAA provides this service! I assume it's in case you're arrested while pulled over, but hey, no reason it wouldn't work for something else. And if you are driving while traveling, AAA is useful for a lot of other things, especially hotel discounts.

Yes, definitely bring enough money to get yourself home if you end up not liking the club. I've made the stupid mistake of not doing that before and had to ask a friend to Western Union me money so that I could get home.

Also, if you're not going to have Internet access on your travels, it would be helpful to bring along a printout of all the local area clubs on stripclublist so that you can visit more than one club and see which ones you like best, and maybe directions to each club too. I've found that strip clubs aren't always listed in the phone book, especially if they're brand new. Maybe look up grocery stores, tanning salons, and any other places you'll want to visit beforehand if you're not going to have Internet access too, as well as directions to them.

If you're flying or taking the bus and you want to keep your luggage to a minimum, shampoo and conditioner bottles can get heavy, so maybe get travel-sized bottles for them. What Crow said about putting shampoo, lotion, etc. in separate bags and making sure they're shut tight is a great idea. There have been times my shampoo has leaked all over my shit and it's a pain in the ass to clean up. Not to mention that my bag smells like shampoo for a few days.

If you're driving, then you'll be able to bring a lot more stuff. Tina has some good posts about stuff to bring along when traveling if you're driving.

You've lost me on this one. As far as I know, when you plead not guilty and the arraignment judge sets bail at X$, if you have the X$ and post bail they have to let you go. Was there some sort of local requirement that the judge couldn't / wouldn't set bail (or wouldn't set the same amount of bail) for an out-of-state 'offender', such that the bail paperwork had to be made out to a local resident / business (i.e local Bail Bond Agency) in order to get the lower cost ? This wouldn't surprise me a bit ... although fortunately I haven't ever had to deal with it personally. Of course you also pled guilty and thus sidestepped a trial, so are you really talking about bail money or fine money ?

In either case having a fair amount of cash (like at least $1000) PLUS a credit card covers both possibilities.

Also, if you're not going to have Internet access on your travels, it would be helpful to bring along a printout of all the local area clubs on stripclublist so that you can visit more than one club and see which ones you like best, and maybe directions to each club too. Absolutely ... you never want to put all of your 'eggs' in one basket ... especially when the club you have made arrangements with via the internet / phone turns out to be a whole different 'animal' than you were led to believe. I've had way too many occasions where I walked into a club for the first time, took a look around for about 30 seconds, and felt that I needed to walk right back out again !

I almost forgot! Pain reliever of some sort or a muscle ointment. Sometimes I push myself at work and the next morning - wow. It smarts.

Don't forget also your monthly girly supplies ( Tampons, insteads, wipes and so forth)

Plus your own little med kit - neosporin, band-aids, superglue ( hurts like all get out but it's great for sealing cuts untill you can get to real medical help) and so forth.
