    Default lending money to dancers

My regular asked me if I wanted him to lend me money. I refused. I don't borrow money from anyone, I am very uncomfortable with that.

The reason it came up is because I was telling him I would be working more shifts due to my upcoming surgery where I wont be able to work for a few weeks and I don't want to run out of money while Im away.

    So his response is this?

I was hoping he would just buy dances or conversation time to help me out. But flat out borrowing, no thanks.

Lending and borrowing money is bad business in general.

p.s. Even under the best of circumstances, even if the offer of a loan was motivated by his inner white knight, well ... even white knights have motives, because at the end of the fairy tale he sleeps with the princess for all of his valiant efforts. There are (almost) always strings attached.

You should've taken the money and then taken him to VIP to work it off immediately.

He should have taken the hint and just offered to buy dances or VIP. You did the right thing.
I've been on the offering end of this sort of arrangement and I can honestly say that there is ALWAYS an ulterior motive to a guy offering to loan money to a beautiful and naked total stranger.

Tell him if he wants to help you out he can buy a bunch of dances and tip you well. Or he can make it rain the next time you are on stage. That way you can keep your friendship as great as it is.

OK, we all know that dancer borrowing does not really mean borrowing in the sense we commonly understand it.

It's a club social convention that makes it easier to ask for, and receive, monetary support. No "loans" under this system are ever repaid, nor is there any expectation that they will be.

If your regular is fluent in club-speak, he will already know this. If not, take Bridgette's advice and apply it into the future: "OK, but I'll repay you in dances." It can't be that painful for him if he's your reg.

You most definitely did the right thing, borrowing from a customer is never a good idea.

I've lent dancers their house fee money on six occasions and a general loan on one. Three of the seven were paid back.

I am glad I did what I did. Even if he did not expect to be paid back I would not be comfortable taking money under those terms because I am a person who sticks to their commitments and if I borrowed money off someone my top priority would be to pay that money back very quickly.

Yeah that is a bit odd. He's your regular but you don't wanna feel like you'll owe him money in the next few months, I HATE owing people money. Never again will I borrow a dime. It's best to work for it and do everything yourself.
Man oh man, what a trip it's been.

He probably didn't really mean "Do you want to borrow some money?"

What he probably meant was "Do you want to 'borrow' some money?"

Yeah. Ask him if you can pay him back in dances. I'm sure the offer is still open.

I think we all know PLs/RILs that hope to use such loans as leverage for OTC action, TOO.

That said, B's option is completely viable.
