    Default crap my head

When I am still I am fine. When I move my head or try to walk I get dizzy.

Hubby says my right eye is ever so slightly droopy now too. Barely noticable but still there.

So I think I am having lingering issues from when I hit my head on the pole awhile back.

Fucking insurance wont allow any tests so WTF am I supposed to do????

I'm going to try to get to the new Dr(old dr dropped ins 'cause it obviously sucked for him too) so maybe he'll have an idea....this blows.

I just want it to STOP. One stupid second because of a cunt bitch with oil on her and my head is fucked for life.

Use this as an example girls...DONT EVER USE LOTION OR OIL AT WORK. If I EVER see that bitch again I will beat her fucking senseless(she never came back after that day)

Sounds like BPV to me. It does suck. I had it last year and it took weeks to get back to normal. Try dramamine. That helped me.

I dont think it is BPV..only because of my eye drooping...THAT freaks me out!
Plus I am not getting sick or Nystagmus.

I had that after I fainted and smacked my head into the kitchen counter on the way down. The emergency room doctor said I had a moderate concussion and I still felt crappy in a week I needed an MRI to make sure I didn't do more damage then what was immediately visible. I felt awfully dizzy and crappy for about four days afterwards, but then it went away.

Crap. You need a scan, especially since its getting worse. What are they waiting for? You to have to have a stroke?

Stupid fucking US healthcare system. If you were in Canada you'd have been in the scanner in two weeks flat.

I highly agree. Too many people walk around with a bruise on the brain due to a head injury, and symptoms show up later not right away.

We don't want to see any bleeding in there Cameron...Seriously see a Doctor no matter what...ASAP!

The whole eye droop thing is kinda odd with this. You need a CT. Just to be safe hun.

I was thinking the same thing. How sad you have to try and diagnose yourself on an internet forum but in another country you would have been treated already.
I hope it's nothing serious - please get yourself checked out.

With those symptoms, no insurance company here in the U.S. would deny a CT scan or MRI. The doctor just needs to document properly and fill out the necessary paperwork. Unfortunately, many doctors either don't understand the system or are overworked or are lazy.

I'd say a drooping eye after a head injury is a sign that something isn't right! Good god Cam, go back to the doctor! Or find a different one!

Or better yet, marry me and come to Canada so my fabulous Winnipeg GP can fix you up lickety-split without dicking around with insurance companies.

My insurance company will. Technically it is because i didnt meet my incredibly high deductable. But still..denied.

The eye droop could be nerve trauma/damage, which in most cases repairs itself.

My huge (280 lb) brother-in-law and one of my other best friends (260 lbs) got in a bit of a drunken banter. I got between them, they calmed down. Only problem is Friend started falling, knocked me over, and my brother-in-law landed on top of my head, which landed on top of a beer case.

No concussion. I had CT's and MRI's, because I immediately passed out afterwards and then woke up unable to speak for 4 hours (I was using sign language.. so not completely incoherent).

I DID get droopy eye about a month afterwards. Went back for another CT. Nothing. MRI. Nothing. Doc said it was probably nerve damage. So I took a B complex vitamin daily, a Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc supplement daily. It went away on it's own gradually.

The dizziness/impaired vertigo can go hand-in-hand with the impaired vision. Any disruptions in healthy eye performance can totally screw with your internal balance.

But definitely, get to a doctor. That's the best case scenario. Entirely likely, but it's best to KNOW for sure.

Thanks all...I will get to the new Dr as soon as I can get in. Its an odd kind of dizzyness. Ever stand up too fast and get a head rush? Thats what it feels like..but one right after the other...

Oh Cameron That definitely doesn't sound like fun. The good news is, if it is nerve damage, the chances of it repairing itself is pretty high. I agree with what Alexxa said too. I sucks that here you are trying to figure out what you are ABLE to do health-insurance permitting (which doesn't sound like enough) when in another country, you would probably be treated by now. Grrrrrrr
Good luck and please keep us updated.

Couple of things...Might be something known as Menieres disease particularly if you have a little ringing in the ear. Have a medical doc check you out for a middle ear infection before the MRI or CT scan as a screening.

Facial droops are caused by the 7th cranial nerve so you could have a subdural hematoma but it should be checked out.

Call around for cash prices on an MRI.....I would be willing to bet you could get one for less than $300 and maybe another $50 for the reading. Why do I say this? I happen to be a physician on the west coast and that is what Medicare pays for them. Nearly every free standing center will accept Medicare rates on a cash basis. Just call around and have your doc write you the referral.

Thanks for this info..no ringing in the ear though. I am thinking it isnt likely to be a subdermal hematoma since it has been 2 months since the actual injury.

I'll get the test done when the Dr orders it..even if i have to shirk on the bill. Whatever to my credit....I dont want to have a stroke.

Subdural hematoma??? In the brainstem? 7th CN lesion only affecting the temporal branch of the nerve? She said she has a possible mild eye droop, not facial hemiparesis. And since when do you see a subdural hematoma below the level of the pons from a head strike with no other traumatic brain injury? You need to review your neuroanatomy notes from med school

I had the same thing happen to me last year. It lasted for about two weeks. Dramamine made it worse. I worked anyway and the only thing that helped me see straight was having a beer.

It passed and hasn't happened since then. Good luck. I know how you feel.

Hey it's been over 20 years. :0 Hey, I only do orthopedics now, not neurosurgery.
You know us glorified carpenters, masters of the drills, saws and such!

I misread her post as a facial droop, sorry. I re-read the forum posts and it did mention the eye, sorry. I did mention to her she could still negotiate medicare rates for an MRI though which I think we both agree would be prudent.
