Default Aussies - who ya gonna vote for?

    it's election day today.

i must say, i was totally sold on kevin rudd at first, but that was a rather uneducated choice.

now that i think about it, i'm unsure. i disagree with many of the things mr howard has done as PM, but i worry that mr rudd will try to hard to be different and completely fuck our economy.

guess i'd better make up my mind, because i've only got 3 more hours to get to the voting booths.

who are you all voting for?

I voted for labor in the house of reps and the liberals in the senate.

I voted for Labor for government mainly because of the extra funding they are giving to universities and the things they are doing about climate change opposed to the liberals.

I voted for the liberals in the senate through because I don't like the idea of the labor bills being passed so easily and think it would be good to have the liberal party about to make checks and balances because I'm also worried about leaving the currently successful Australian economy in the hands of Kevin Rudd. Also, I don't like the idea that Labor has all the state governments.

Anyway, labor's won now and I doubt it will make a significant difference to the country anyway.

I wanted to vote Labor but can't. The man I like currently was a Liberal though,

I voted Greens, as per usual, with preferences going to the Democrats and the ALP. The electorate I live in is a very safe Labor seat.

I'm damn glad J-Ho's been booted the hell out.

hmmm it will be interesting to see how things turn out for Australia with a new (liberal) Labor government versus France with a new (conservative) UMP government over the course of the next few years !

I voted Labore, I just wanted to see Howard out. Im an anarchist so I dont really have super high hopes for the new government blah.
Surprisingly I felt great satisfaction in numbering Family Fucking First last on the short list though. I might vote again next time just for that, lol. Fuck doing 1-60something on that great long sheet though! Couldnt wait to get out of there.

^ Haha I agree. I put labor first, then immediately put family first last.

Yah, I always put Family First last. Even their name annoys me. Their policies are even suckier.

I voted greens, again. I met up with a few other Aussies the monday before (Postal vote) in London and we made a day of it, had high tea before and went out afterwards. I felt so relieved to turn on my computer and see a smiling Kevin Rudd, I feel like I can really breathe a sigh of relief now, so so so glad to see that slimy git and his pet eyebrows gone, and i especially liked the part where he lost his own safe seat.

ALWAYS family first last, then Christian democrats and One Nation (homophobic and racist) down the bottom.

First preference was Greens, then socialist Alliance and then labour.

I did all my preferences myself, on the HUGE fricken piece of paper!

I took 3 different "who should I vote for" quizzes, to see who matched my views, in my electorate, and got Greens, Socialists then Labour every time!

You girls are patient and brave, lol!

I took the easy option and just did the 1 thing.
I must admit I do like The Greens. I quite like the Social Democrats too.
It gets hard though deciding who I like least, I wrestle with that, even on the small sheet.
I despise family Fucking First and they go last due to the fact that on the previous election I heard that someone voted for them because they had no idea who they were but "Their name sounded nice." Easy decision, Ive always hated their name, they are cunts, so LAST! NEXT - Do I despise The Christian Democrats more is hard to say, but I feel that theyre old and will hopefully all die soon anyway and keeping that in mind maybe they should go above One Nation. Then again considering TCD past actions, maybe they fucking shouldnt... are One nation really a threat, or are they just a bunch of mostly dumb loudmouth fucks? And so the list wrestling goes on. You come to some party and think "Who the fuck are you? Name sounds ok, possibly that means youre a bastard, you could be a wolf in sheep clothing." or "What sort of name is that, its 2007 not 1895!" "Senator online, you sound hip, wanker"*
Lol, I just cant be arsed with it.

    * I have no idea who Senator online is, he could be a perfectly good sheilas or blokes for all I know, maybe ill look em up

    - I did, lol.

So it's not just me who feels repulsed by their name even though I don't bother to check any of their policies. For the recored I vote them last too.

But they do have a rather important seat in the senate now, so it will be interesting to see how things transpire.

Hubbie worked with a guy that was a MEMBER and RUNNING for family first, and had no idea of the policies!!!! But he "liked the name"

    People suck sometimes.

OTOH this guys wife worked for an agency which helped (in her words) "these young sluts who cant keep their knickers on"

So not nice people in general.

oops. came to this thread a little late.

anyway, i voted greens and i did as per MsQ .. I just put a 1 in their box. I just wanted to get it over and done with as I had a private party booking to attend shortly afterwards.

As for in my actual seat back home here, I also vote Family First last. Anything religious is second last, one nation in the middle somewhere (as I don't like them yet the previous two top my list of "who should be at the bottom).

Otherwise, I just make my mind up on the spot.

I'm actually a rather uneducated voter in a way as I try to avoid reading about the election or politics unless it is actually relevant to me.... I'm with MsQ.. whilst not an anarchist... I just don't trust any of the politicians. None.

If someone tells me that they are a politician for their work, I try to not be friends with them and run the other way. It really does take someone who is manipulative and okay with lying and some other not so nice traits to be a pollie... no thank you. No pollies for friends for me!
